  1. @lapasoa, Sonar may include XLN Addictive Drums but Cakewalk by BandLab does not.
  2. @chuckebaby, Windows 10 recently added a new feature. Press the Windows key + the period key and a pop-up window opens. The pop-up window includes a lot of special characters that Windows formally did not support. I just tried "∆.txt" and Windows accepted it.
  3. An integrated sampler is better than none but, as @Starship Krupa said, well integrated is preferable to something just patched on. Some features I'd like to see include pitch and timing detection in addition to pitch and timing shifting, waveform display, reverse waveform and individual ASDR controls. What other features are needed to create a comprehensive, integrated sampler?
  4. Scott, I've subscribed to your channel. I'm looking forward to learning the tricks to using Cakewalk by BandLab. Now all I have to do is create song projects that need some of the tricks to sound like I want.
  5. But yet, the program still is capable of using the future for new plugins, VST3, to bring the thread back into the scope of the topic ?.
  6. Nope. ? If you your music doesn't fit into any music genre, ? or if none of your mixes can be considered a standard mix, ? then the video or book is not for you! You would not gain anything by watching the video. ? But, what if you saw ONE idea of interest and that ONE idea elevated how good your mixes sound, would it be worth watching then? A more serious and less sarcastic answer now. An experienced mixer has likely developed an understanding of what they are hearing and developed a process that allows them to translate what they're hearing into a vision of what it can be. But what happens when that person encounters audio material that lies outside their comfort zone? Will their process still work? Maybe not unless their process includes a way to break the audio material down into understandable chunks. The video offers a way for a person that doesn't understand what they are hearing, or have a process in place to efficiently and reliably create a pleasing sounding mix, to develop a process that is genre agnostic which should be both efficient and reliable. I can state without hesitation I found the video provides an excellent primer on what constitutes the art and science of audio production.
  7. The song Mark mentions is used as an audio example throughout the video. ?
  8. This is a 2.5 hour video that visually explains how a mix works. In my estimation it is the best video to help a beginner understand the concept of mixing as art. I can't over emphasize how good this video is. Back when the video was first released, it cost hundreds of (US) dollars, now it is free. The video has a companion book available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H4YVXR1/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_hsch_vapi_tkin_p1_i1 Here is advertising copy from the book:
  9. @huik Hello. Welcome to the forum and to Cakewalk by BandLab or CbB. Are you suggesting CbB add a chord track? If so then your post would get more views and discussion by posting in the "Feedback Loop" section of the forum. The Feedback Loop is where suggestions are normally made. That section is here: https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/forum/8-feedback-loop/ Done.
  10. The more I think about this idea the better I like the idea of animated buttons. I can see a track's record button flash when it's armed and change to solid when the transport record button is pressed. Flashing play button when paused and solid when running. Many opportunities become available to make the interface more user friendly.
  11. Thank you, thank you, thank you! No external midi controller for me so I'm really looking forward to testing this out.
  12. PG Music's Band-in-a-Box and RealBand include DX effects and accepts the Cakewalk by BandLab DX effects and DXi.
  13. User @Xel Ohh mentioned +++ Chordz +++ in his Cakewalk by BandLab video tutorial, How To Use Chord Generators In Cakewalk. From the Chordz webpage: The CodeFN42 website has several additional VSTs that some may find of interest.
  14. You are so right. I really appreciate your attention to detail. Every time you press a computer key you take time to explain what keys you are pressing. That level of attention is sometimes overlooked but is essential information for users that want to duplicate your results. I've subscribed to your channel.
  15. Really interesting video. I've seen the advertisements on YouTube but haven't taken time to investigate chord VSTs. It looks like a real time saver. I enjoy seeing the different ways that people are using Cakewalk by BandLab. Thank you for taking time to share your knowledge with everyone.
  16. Thank you for providing an answer. I'm new to CbB, the nanoKONROL2 and to Kontakt. I keep a notebook of problems and resolutions so your answer will help me and others get Kontakt to work as we desire inside CbB.
  17. @E-Woof Music, This is a pretty neat video. It is so interesting to see your process. Congratulations on reaching 50 subscribers!
  18. @E-Woof Music, Interesting video. The eight one knob effects are often overlooked. Thanks for featuring one of them.
  19. @e2studio, I sincerely hope your videos are receiving many views. You are very prolific! Spero sinceramente che i tuoi video ricevano molte visualizzazioni. Sei molto prolifico!
  20. @abacab, excuse me for not understanding the conversation was only limited to Cakewalk. @Starise's comment, led me to assume the conversation reached beyond a single DAW. My mistake.
  21. Of course there are other plugin specifications beside VST. AVID has AAX, Apple has AU and Linux has LSP. To my knowledge LSP is the only plugin specification that is truly open source. More information is available here: https://lsp-plug.in/

    Direct to laptop

Do your headphones use a 1/8" connector or USB connector to connect to the laptop? I have a Dell laptop that shipped with Vista, was upgraded to Windows 7 and is currently running Windows 10 build 2004. I have been able to listen through Logictech H340 USB headphones with all three operating systems. Some Dell laptops have one 1/8" connector that performs multiple tasks including audio out for headphones, line-in or mic-in for incoming audio. With laptops having onboard speakers and microphones the need for three 1/8" connectors has been reduced. Laptop manufacturers have responded by combining the connectors to reduce cost. If you're using the 1/8" connector go to the audio section of Windows Control Center and review the recording and playback settings with the headphones connected. If you're using USB headphones make sure the Windows speaker icon is on the taskbar next to the time. When the headphones are plugged in, single click on the speaker icon. You should be able to select for audio to go to the laptop onboard speakers or headphones.
  23. @msmcleod, Yes Mark I was thinking audio outputs when I wrote that question / suggestion. I've seen your video on Kontakt. It is also a keeper. I did not realize the steps to set up multiple audio outputs would vary between VSTis but that makes perfect sense once you point it out. The Cakewalk by BandLab Reference Guide is a valuable resource but it doesn't address the subject of multiple VSTi audio outputs at all as far as I can determine. There are a goodly number of multiple audio output VSTis available so perhaps the subject needs some attention. If nothing else a catch all that states check with the VSTi user manual to determine how to set up CbB to utilize multiple audio outputs.
  24. @msmcleod @Morten Saether, Is there any chance the two of you can get the meat of this thread into the Cakewalk by BandLab Reference Guide? I searched the guide and can not find any details about how to set up the outputs of a multi-channel VSTi in CbB. The topic seems to be raised fairly often. Plus, it will be easier for me to print the instructions and have them on hand when I'm offline.
  25. @Vernon Barnes, you are correct. All of us are guessing what @Richard Sheppard requested in his initial post. Hopefully Richard will update this thread and clarify.
