  1. You've got good ears. Durn good mix. Fame is a challenging song to tackle and you've done it justice.
  2. Wow, your website version seems to have more dynamic range and punch to it. A good song is even better! Evidently Drooble is like many other online music services that run uploaded songs through a compressor. I very much enjoyed reading your story on your Drooble webpage. I also like your musical taste.
  3. Very nice rendition. You followed the original arrangement pretty close but still managed to put your imprint on the song. I liked the song so much I downloaded it. I was surprised to discover the file format is MP4 instead of MP3. May I ask why?
  4. Listening through cheap headphones. The mix and production sounds polished and finished to me. The bass sounds about right to me. I haven't seen you on the Band-in-a-Box forum very much lately. I miss your presence there.
  5. @HIBI, thanks for the heads up. Like you I'm not seeing an update notification when I run V5.2.0 BandLab Assistant. I downloaded and ran the "latest" BA installer and now BandLab Assistant is V6.0.0. Great! Again, thanks.
  6. An +++ article +++ published in Wired magazine walks through the differences composers face creating video game soundtracks versus movie soundtracks. Very interesting and informative reading with some good links to click on for follow up if desired.
  7. @Calum Findlay, You might find +++ THIS +++ freeware thread useful.
  8. Early on I requested the program support Native Instrument's NKS standard for device and plugin integration. I also requested better support for Mackie surface controller MCU protocol. CbB recently enhanced MCU support.
  9. The original post is to suggest Cakewalk by BandLab changes how it reacts to USB connections. I support the suggestion. For those of you like @Robert Bone that likes to play around with programming or your computer, read on. You may find +++ THIS +++ Tech Republic article useful for USB troubleshooting. The article has a link to a Microsoft Windows 10 tool (USB Device Viewer) available (for free) from Microsoft. An In use USB connection can sometimes conflict with a USB connection that is not in use, particularly if you have plugged one USB device into multiple USB ports. +++ HERE +++ is an article about how to identify and remove connections that are no longer in use. This +++ article +++ includes a download link to the small utility program, Temple.
  10. @E-Wolf Music The videos helped me to understand your suggestions. They are good suggestions and I support them 100 percent. Perhaps someone has explanations for the way Cakewalk presently works and the explanations will make sense.
  11. Translation courtesy of Google Translate.
  12. I'm glad to see an online distributor is listing them for sale in the US. The BandLab Store has listed them for awhile but the store has a minimum of $149 US before the cost of shipping is free. It bothers me that the Link Digital and Link Digital Duo output is fixed at 16/48k.
  13. @T on Y Great observation and idea. Beside supporting the idea my only addition is to suggest making the db switchover set points user programmable. For example you suggested above -10db for color 3 but I may prefer for color 3 start at -9db or -12db.
  14. @John Bradley Well thought out presentation. Everything you said makes sense to me. Thanks for including the visuals. I disagree with one comment. and that is the comment you made about displaying the octave. Displaying the octave can help users that are not familiar with the virtual instrument they are using or just beginning to use the piano roll view (PRV). Different instrument developers define different notes as midi middle C so it can be easy to be an octave high or low and not realize it until playback.
  15. @chuckebaby, thanks for sharing the video. Great tutorial about how to quickly create a realistic sounding drum pattern.
  16. Robert, Thanks for adding the timestamps. I apologize for not seeing them the first time. That really helps me to lock in some concepts. Sometimes I have to repeat a section multiple times before the light bulb turns on! ? Your videos are enlightening. I'd advice anyone that hasn't visited your YouTube Channel or website to do so as there is a wealth of information available in either location.
  17. The FREE MT PowerDrum Kit 2 VSTi +++ website +++ includes instructions for loading a drum map into Cakewalk by BandLab and a drum map. The "Audible Distortion" +++ website +++ has a tool that Forum user @James Argo attached some ToonTrack EZ Drummer drum maps to +++ THIS +++ forum post. Mike Eno of Creative Sauce created two drum map videos. +++ HERE +++ and +++ HERE +++ Mike's website has drum maps for MT PowerDrum, and Studio Link's +++ Drum Pro +++ and Cakewalk's Studio Instrument drums +++ HERE +++
  18. @BMC, As @Promidi indicated you haven't given enough information. Microsoft is releasing a Windows 10 update and upgrade at the same time. There is the May, 2020 update to versions 1903 & 1909 (KB4556799) and the upgrade to version 2004. User feedback indicates KB4556799 has several audio driver issues. Instructions to roll back the update is available +++ HERE +++ Microsoft has advised some users not to upgrade to version 2004 and has slowed down pushing out the upgrade in response to complaints. More information is available +++ HERE +++
  19. @Robert McClellan, Excellent subject to cover. I'm with @Kurre about the video pacing being a little too fast. You may find this link helpful: https://clearly-speaking.com/what-is-the-ideal-rate-of-speech/ I understand the need to be brief but not at the risk of reducing comprehension. One thought comes to mind that might help. Why not post video links in the description that point to the beginning timeline of each topic. That way viewers can watch the whole video to gain an appreciation for the overall video then click on links to be directed to specific topics. It would make it much easier for a viewer to repeat a section as many times as they need to. I assume you did not provide any audio demonstrations until the very last section of the video for brevity. Every section was "here's how to set this up" then you advanced to the next subject. Providing audible demonstrations helps you and the viewer in two ways, the audio verifies the end result of the change and the few seconds of audio gives the viewer time to mentally absorb what they viewed.
  20. @cclarry, Not much use for those of us that are Windows users. Thanks for sharing the link anyhow.
  21. Kind of you to ask Scott. I've used a Zoom MRS-8 hardware DAW to create most of my recordings. I have no experience in live sound or audio production so I'm a beginner in the truest sense of the word. Having a device with a built-in drum and bass machine, nine velocity sensitive pads, built-in electret microphone, two inputs, four mono tracks, two stereo tracks and hundreds of recording, mixing and mastering signal chain presets spoiled me. In the past I've played around with Cakewalk Music Creator but not consistently enough to know it. The same can be said for Cakewalk by BandLab. I'm still grappling with the most basic of tasks like cut, copy and paste.
  22. @Robert McClellan, Nice video. I enjoyed watching and discovered some new ways of using Melodyne. Cakewalk by BandLab users should be aware a 90 day trial version of the Melodyne Essential plug-in is available for installation through the Cakewalk Add-Ons button of BandLab Assistant. After 90 days the plug-in still converts monophonic audio to midi but pitch and time shifting functionality turns off. @msmcleod did some significant research and discovered the trial file is not the same file available at the Celemony website.
  23. @Daigo Kawai, Do you presently have an earlier version of BandLab Assistant and Cakewalk by BandLab (CbB) installed on your computer? I guess what I'm asking is, are you performing a new install on a fresh computer or are you updating from an earlier install? When you removed the offending BandLab Assistant from the computer did you use the Windows Programs uninstall feature or file explorer and delete? @EGO ODDS, Please start a new thread. It is confusing when two users are trying to get their problem solved in one thread.
