@BMC, As @Promidi indicated you haven't given enough information. Microsoft is releasing a Windows 10 update and upgrade at the same time. There is the May, 2020 update to versions 1903 & 1909 (KB4556799) and the upgrade to version 2004. User feedback indicates KB4556799 has several audio driver issues. Instructions to roll back the update is available +++ HERE +++ Microsoft has advised some users not to upgrade to version 2004 and has slowed down pushing out the upgrade in response to complaints. More information is available +++ HERE +++

@Robert McClellan, Excellent subject to cover. I'm with @Kurre about the video pacing being a little too fast. You may find this link helpful: https://clearly-speaking.com/what-is-the-ideal-rate-of-speech/ I understand the need to be brief but not at the risk of reducing comprehension. One thought comes to mind that might help. Why not post video links in the description that point to the beginning timeline of each topic. That way viewers can watch the whole video to gain an appreciation for the overall video then click on links to be directed to specific topics. It would make it much easier for a viewer to repeat a section as many times as they need to. I assume you did not provide any audio demonstrations until the very last section of the video for brevity. Every section was "here's how to set this up" then you advanced to the next subject. Providing audible demonstrations helps you and the viewer in two ways, the audio verifies the end result of the change and the few seconds of audio gives the viewer time to mentally absorb what they viewed.

@cclarry, Not much use for those of us that are Windows users. Thanks for sharing the link anyhow.

Kind of you to ask Scott. I've used a Zoom MRS-8 hardware DAW to create most of my recordings. I have no experience in live sound or audio production so I'm a beginner in the truest sense of the word. Having a device with a built-in drum and bass machine, nine velocity sensitive pads, built-in electret microphone, two inputs, four mono tracks, two stereo tracks and hundreds of recording, mixing and mastering signal chain presets spoiled me. In the past I've played around with Cakewalk Music Creator but not consistently enough to know it. The same can be said for Cakewalk by BandLab. I'm still grappling with the most basic of tasks like cut, copy and paste.

@Robert McClellan, Nice video. I enjoyed watching and discovered some new ways of using Melodyne. Cakewalk by BandLab users should be aware a 90 day trial version of the Melodyne Essential plug-in is available for installation through the Cakewalk Add-Ons button of BandLab Assistant. After 90 days the plug-in still converts monophonic audio to midi but pitch and time shifting functionality turns off. @msmcleod did some significant research and discovered the trial file is not the same file available at the Celemony website.

Bandlab Assistant stays white Screen, Bandlab couldn't solve it
Jim Fogle replied to Daigo Kawai's question in Q&A
@Daigo Kawai, Do you presently have an earlier version of BandLab Assistant and Cakewalk by BandLab (CbB) installed on your computer? I guess what I'm asking is, are you performing a new install on a fresh computer or are you updating from an earlier install? When you removed the offending BandLab Assistant from the computer did you use the Windows Programs uninstall feature or file explorer and delete? @EGO ODDS, Please start a new thread. It is confusing when two users are trying to get their problem solved in one thread. -
Band-in-a-Box Xtra Styles Pak 9 Out Now $29 (until June 30th)
Jim Fogle replied to Reid Rosefelt's topic in Deals
The XtraStyle PAKs sound significantly different from the normal Band-in-a-Box styles. In part this is because the styles are created by a different person than the person that normally creates styles. The XtraStyle PAKs are made by a person named Jareth. Jareth has posted in the PG Music forum a few times and when he does, it typically is a post related to an XtraStyle. The XtraStyles include effects, panning and instrument arrangements that really stand out when compared to a regular style. For a beginner like me the XtraStyles are great learning templates. Listen to the demos, they don't sound like PG Music songs. -
Windows 10 May, 2020 release changes how Windows handles driver registry keys. On the Coolsoft VirtualMIDISynth forum: https://coolsoft.altervista.org/en/forum/thread/880 Several known audio driver issues: https://mspoweruser.com/wait-before-you-install-windows-10-2004-make-sure-these-known-issues-do-not-apply-to-you/ You might want to postpone updating until the dust settles.

Good luck to you and much success with your channel. Buona fortuna a te e molto successo con il tuo canale. -
Scott, I'm REALLY looking forward to viewing any Cakewalk by BandLab videos you release. I never had Sonar so I had no need to view your Sonar videos or read your books. While I'm sure much of the information you've distributed in the past still pertains to Cakewalk by BandLab I don't want to confuse myself by trying to sift through what's still the same versus what's changed. As an acknowledged Sonar expert I look forward to discovering your gift for teaching on Cakewalk by BandLab content. I've subscribed to your YouTube channel.

video A complete overhaul of the video player !!!
Jim Fogle replied to Jean Corivo's topic in Feedback Loop
@Josh Wolfer, perhaps you can add a link to your request so you and @Jean Corivo can compare notes. -
@Robert McClellan, Thanks for adding a link to your post with links to your videos. Hopefully beginners will find this thread helpful and a great wat to learn about audio production.

Mike, Always great to see you've released another video using Cakewalk by BandLab.
-
Jesse, Thanks for sharing this. I don't have any Maschine hardware myself but I'm sure the video will be a help to those that do.

Nice idea. Live streaming is another way to reach users.

I find videos like this really positive. Both of you found a way to work to your strengths while collaborating.

WASPI or Windows Audio Session API. There are shared and exclusive WASPI modes. Shane Kirk.com has a VERY good overview of how audio support is managed by Windows. It is a short but instructive read, http://shanekirk.com/2015/10/a-brief-history-of-windows-audio-apis/

The May early release has an offline activation feature. Adding the feature requires an update to BandLab Assistant (BA) and Cakewalk by BandLab (CbB). You will still need a computer with access to the internet but the computer running Cakewalk by BandLab doesn't have to be online. CbB offloads an authorization request to removable memory. Place the removable memory into the online computer with BA. BA runs the authorization request, receives a re-authorization response and offloads the authorization response to removable memory. The authorization response is loaded to CbB.

Hello @Yesha Moor, Welcome to Cakewalk by BandLab and to the forum. When the program crashes the program creates a file that documents what was happening inside the program at the moment the crash happened. It is helpful to the developers to have that data as they continue to provide fixes. You can read more about the crash process here: How To Capture A Crash Dump Does the crash happen with a specific project or any project? Are you transposing an audio or midi clip? What are the steps you're performing to transpose a clip?

Craig Anderton has composed two TTS-1 articles for Sound On Sound magazine. The first appeared in the June, 2005 edition and the second appeared in the January, 2019 edition. +++ June, 2005 +++ and +++ January, 2019 +++ They are a good refresher course. I purchased the pdf files for both.

I get the idea of bundling free VSTis with a free DAW. It's a good idea. BandLab has some unreleased VSTs. There have been hints some will be released in the future, I hope so. As Cakewalk gains a larger audience perhaps developers will approach the Cakewalk staff about bundling opportunities. That is one of the nice things about attending trades hows; it provides opportunities for ideas to be shared and presented informally. The BandLab Assistant already has the mechanism to offer additional applications through the add-on screen.

Einstein, Thanks for the video. Your workspace makes a lot of sense for what you do, make beats. I sure do hope that someone comes along and gives the name of the space you forgot the name to at around 6:10 (see screen shot below) Also, you said you've been using Cakewalk by Bandlab for about 2 years. I must admit I'm still learning the program and find the Help module ... well, very helpful. For people like me that are interested in using the program to learn about beat creation it would be very helpful to place some of your main thoughts into a pdf file and making the pdf file available in the description section below the video.

@Einstein Essibu, I didn't know BandLab has +3 million users. I totally agree with your thought that all BandLab users are potential Cakewalk users however there maybe some obstacles those users will need to overcome. The first obstacle is many BandLab users are mobile based while Cakewalk is computer based. Bandlab is accessible anywhere a smart phone can obtain an internet connection. Cakewalk users are locked into using a computer. The second obstacle is Cakewalk is exclusive for use on a 64 bit Windows computer. Users with Chrome, Macintosh or Linux based computer operating systems are out of luck. Users with 32 bit Windows operating system are out of luck. Now for some good news. One of the first enhancements was to the BandLab Assistant to support the exchange of "BandLab Interchange Files", or blx, files. This enables a user to import or drag and drop a BandLab project into a Cakewalk project. Import BandLab Project was also added to File > Import > BandLab Project. Cakewalk's Export module supports a partial or full export of a Cakewalk project from Cakewalk to BandLab with some restrictions. The export to BandLab feature is fully described here: Export to BandLab . That leads me to believe there are plans to find ways to encourage more interaction between the two platforms. More good news. Both the TTS-1 midi software sound module and the four virtual instrument Studio Instrument suite are available for download through the BandLab Assistant Cakewalk add-on selection screen. Cakewalk automatically selects TTS-1 if no midi device is selected in Cakewalk midi output preferences. That allows a user to easily and quickly hear acceptable sounds while composing using midi. The Studio Instrument suite of strings, keys, electric bass and drums are good sounding virtual instrument learning tools. I am thrilled to have both midi virtual instrument tools in my toolbox. In addition to what's included with Cakewalk, as you've seen there is a huge amount of virtual instruments available for free or low cost. Finally, the midi and audio loops created by BandLab staff is available in BandLab Assistant and can be imported into Cakewalk.
