HorNET ? Summer Sale Alert: Up to 75% Off on HoRNet Plugins!
kitekrazy1 replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
Pretty much my favorite developer to to hoard plugins. He gets teased for always having sales but Waves has just as money. He meets every check box for users to support a developer. -
We love to derail threads. Now we are into the never ending piracy threads. I can sum it up by I have never walked in the shoes of a developer. I have no idea how I'd really react if my work was available to anyone without paying for it. I'd be afraid to download something from a torrent site because I don't believe there is honor among thieves. What data are they stealing from you that you are not aware of. I avoid developers who spend more time locking down their product than improving it.

The Player is a form of anti piracy for larger libraries. At one time 9 Volt Audio found their Taiko 2 on sites before it was released for sale. Gigastudio lost a lot of developers because they would protect their app but not the libraries. I'm sure some developers could state benefits of using Kontakt player and it's not just piracy.

Reason ? The Old Authorization System Is Soon Discontinued — Save 60%
kitekrazy1 replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
Not a good one at that. I think I can still authorize Gigastudio 3 from Tascam. I doubt no one cries over losing the Soundspot authorizations. Unfortunately online authorization is what fuels the piracy industry. Usually its only for worthwhile products. People who use their computers for gigging need offline authorization. I guess that where dongles use to rule but stealing dongles is another forum of piracy. I didn't mind Reason authorization since I had it one 4 machines and they app login could be filled in with Roboform and also remember your login, When my internet went out the only machine where I could run it was using their dongle. It's getting more difficult these days to have software that doesn't need to sign in. -
Nope. They've been operating that way as long as I can remember. Image-Line doesn't interfere with the companies they bought. They've stated that on their forum. FL users are disappointed that UVI didn't follow Image Line's licensing of moving away from iLok. But we need more speculation to increase the DAW drama. Image Line left the VST market and I doubt any of the developers from Melda and UVI are involved creating parts of FL Studio. You don't see UVI or Melda in the shop unless it's some rare special. The only thing holding Melda back is the resources on how to use them. Reaper was like that at one time.

Especially the Bandlab forum members are evil thieves.

I avoid because I would buy more stuff and totally ignore the how to articles. I've been doing the for ages with CM and Beat.
-
I guess that would depend on how you use them. Aren't these more for mixing and mastering?

There was a known developer who found his product greatly reduced on MF and was not going to honor the licenses. There was enough negative feedback on KVR to where that changed his mind plus it was a player license. I guess he didn't understand that the reduction was when boxed software was being outdated. Hey but we need more DAW drama.

Pretty lousy opening statement by ISW. They coulda said we fixed the glitch, congrats to those who had a remarkable deal. There's plenty of us who are struggling so spare the poor me. Sometimes developers need to test the sites for glitches or the person responsible for creating them. Shame on you not us. Developers need a sense of diplomacy in these situations and some forums are less forgiving. I'm glad they fixed it since I would have spend $90 on something I didn't really need and forget I have. I wouldn't want to be a library developer. It's to hard to reinvent the wheel and try to make a living at it. But don't bad mouth us for your mistake and spare us the pitty party. BTW I've never had a real vacation in a long time. My biggest request is not to go to a proprietary player. I guess there's some advantages to using NI as a developer. It could be worse where Reason RE/NNXT developers pay up to 50% BTW I think the only time the price inflated is when they are offered on APD. Tokyo Strings would be $1500 MSRP.
