  1. Title should be changed for better understanding. Independence plugins are Magix products.
  2. I still like IK. The problem is many developers are doing the iTunes thing where you open the app and it's click and buy.
  3. I look at it this why is they wanted to ride on the coat tails of PA to see how well their products are received. It's often a way for small developers to reduce some overhead. They basically make one product that serves a small group. It seems though this is short term thinking and made more enemies instead of friends. Most developers allow for a license for both platforms. If you want to have it on a Mac and Windows you pay extra. There doesn't seem to be a lot of attention about this policy on the net. Cantabile has been around for a long time. It's the same price. Most DAWs have features like this. I wonder if someone could do the same with VSL VEP. It's a niche product but if it were an EQ or compressor I could see more getting upset. I don't think I would want to go anywhere longterm with developers who have strange policies. They attitude is you need us and we don't need you. We always need more DAW drama. This one doesn't garner much attention which probably means not a lot are using it.
  4. 5 yr warranty as well. I've been buying Crucial SATAs because of their price.
  5. Removing and installing Izotope was the fix. Somewhere there was faulty installtions that didn't show up in Add/Remove Programs, I had to go to the folders for the uninstallers. BTW check your vst3 folders and Izotope also drops .dll files in there.
  6. They had better offerings before. I almost bought a sub for this. I like their magazine.
  7. Maybe not for Mac users. BTW does Softube use iLok and how many machines?
  8. I on the other hand am starting to ignore those same people. I do a lot of impulse buying and don't even download demos. Of course that might change next week - the impulse buying that is.
  9. It's an odd fanrasy to think that will happen with Apple's increasing market. The home user is not where MS makes it's money.
  10. Removed and installed Izotope again. So far so good.
  11. It only happens on one system and it's the newer one.
  12. Ah...the sub paranoia. MS has been doing subs for a long time.
  13. Could people stop trying to compare the software industry to real life scenarios? People do that all of the time with video games. No an assassin or solder wouldn't do that in reality. Comparing software to toasters, vehicles, pets, but it makes great DAW drama. Meanwhile I'm waiting for the paranoia to happen again at Image Line for the users to fear no more free upgrades.
  14. I installed v9 and it did the same thing except I had to constantly restart and the manager block them. After about 72 restarts it's running. v10 does this circle jerk of and I can't get past Insight 2. Komplete Control has issues with Izotope as well.
  15. For me it's Mixcrap since the plugin scanner rejects everything Izotope vst3 and shuts down.
  16. Still using my l7 4790 with an AsRock board. I regret not buying the K version. It has PCI slots and my old AP2496 is running in that.
  17. What is pretty old? It seems hardware companies go through stages of crap products. Gigabyte, Seagate , went through this. I guess if I make another system I'll use AsRock boards.
  18. That depends on your level of hoarding and disk space.
  19. Nope. People buy them because they just work well without little issues. I wouldn't want to be a slave to a hardware company like Apple. We are not the average consumer that Apple attracts. In every system I have I can upgrade as much as I want. Windows is designed to be backwards compatible with most hardware. I'm ware of the pos and cons but I wouldn't want to be an Apple fanboy. Their biggest mistake was those cheese grater Macs. Those things were so upgrade-able I was seriously thinking about buying one. So they change their OS to null those out. If I were to ever spend decent money on a laptop it would overwhelmingly be a Mac.
  20. When I upgraded to Ggiastudio 4, a month later Tascam decided to drop it. I called them Thescam. Garritan bought the code and went nowhere. When Sony became Magix to me it's annual vaporware.
  21. My closet use to have old socket A boards with Athlon XP processors, A P4, PhenomII systems, and if I piece back my Q6600 system they'd all run fine. People would buy those budget laptops, HSN PCs, all loaded with crapware. along with the cheapest components possible. I've gotten my moneys worth from building my own systems. I'm not a laptop person but I would tell people go with Macs if they are serious about a laptop.
  22. I'd fear after paying it off, Apple will turn it into a doorstop. I'd hate to be Apple brainwashed.
  23. They are proprietary and can only be used with their plugin, not to mention their sampled REs have to exist on the OS drive. There are far too many alternatives to Reason instruments. Their overall popularity has diminished since Reason 10. Everyone trying the Adobe model but many have moved on to alternatives. I like what Image Line and Reaper do - imrprove their DAWs. With so much 3rd party instrument addons I'm no longer enticed by those that come with DAWs. At the same time many effects in a DAW are underrated.
  24. They use to do that to get you to buy Sonar upgrades.
