I have to use a USB port to run it on a machine. I do that with Reason but I just log in on the other machines. Reaper is starting to chip away at the Cubase crowd. I don't like the GUI either. It has that budget DAW look except budget DAWs don't look like that. A .5 update is the same price as a Reaper license. Not a fan of single machine licenses.
This is where I like Reaper. It was designed for 3rd party plugins. I guess all of the DAW developers figured out after buying a DAW they need throw in stuff for making music out of the box since a user may not have any money left to buy 3rd party plugins. Tascam figured that out with Gigastudio 3. I remember buying Gigastudio 2 and looking at the prices of libraries threw me off.
Some of the FX come with bonus packs and so did the 808s with presets. I'm quite happy with what I got.
Function Loops is doing the same thing but you wont get free stuff.
I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth since they are very generous in giving away stuff. One time they gave away 30gb of their stuff. That should also tell you something there. I'm not really into hip hop, trap so it's rare I find anything of use. They've done this deal before. I don't think I went through their midi collection yet. I bought it some time ago. I did get the 808s and FX. If you don't have Serum it's worth getting a pack for free just for the wavetables.
You could investigate if you have equivalents. I could do Live racks all day. How is this any different than loading up FX in a channel. I think I also have one of these things from PA.
Easier to cover on guitar than keys if you use the original key. This song is so hypnotic and I don't think I'd tire of it. That choir version is like "wake me when it starts".
