Has anyone tried using a virtual machine for their DAW?
kitekrazy1 replied to craigb's topic in Computer Systems
I have a SW1000XG that is basically useless and would fail on most motherboards. Running a box with W2000 and Sonar 2 would probably be a cool experience. W2000 is my favorite OS. If I could do it over again I would have never bought that card and got a Hammerfal for the same price and still be using it. One reason why I would never buy a Yamaha DAW product is they are good at doorstops because of lack of continued support. -
To me this is like being able to do your own oil changes but prefer to have someone else do it. Squires ad Epiphones are quality. I guess just buy those and change out the electronics.

The recent deal for $299 was good enough for me since I got AT5 Max, the rest of TRacks, and Modo Drums, and B3.

Isn't there only XP drivers for this? Do XP drivers work in W7 32 bit? I've also wondered if someone made drivers for Linux. -

Is that after it's installed? Installers are always much larger.

Beat magazine #184 free WA Production Fundamental Bass

I'm no longer lured by freebies in a magazine. My mistake for allowing my CM sub to auto renew. -
There's the subscription model phobia going around. Subs have been around a long time. The field of competition is large and I think with so many options out there being sub only is a foolish mistake. There was a time users thought everything would go dongle. It didn't take long for IK to drop it. Subs work for Adobe since there are far more people who take pictures than use DAWs. Reason Studios adopted the Cakewalk "sub" model by offering monthly content. That's only good for hoarding and less resources used to develop the main product.

I have a small one that I use to blow out the dust in my computers. I know how to use that one, definitely DAW related.

Image - Line - one of the reasons it become my favorite DAW. They also gave me Flex presets after being in the hospital which was all of them at that time. iLok - great support. Spitfire - they have weekend support. VSL I like to support developers who have the "I trust you" attitude towards the enduser. When I stopped using Sonar I still bought licenses because of that. IK - I know they take a beating over upgrades. The $299 to Total Max was worth it for me to have all of AT5, the newer plugs in TRacks. Their support is top notch. Pete is very good at wearing a fire suit. They give you free stuff and any support issue if resolved quickly. Licensing is my biggest factor. Thumbs down to Steinberg and Waves on this.

I'm still stupid on how to use a compressor despite watching tutorial. If all of my compressors turned into hardware I would need a warehouse for them.

I started to watch these tutorials since I have everything. I thought of it as just another rompler but this is more of a synth. I have yet to download their large banks of drums.

Upcoming NVIDIA RTX 3060 purposely cripples mining performance
kitekrazy1 replied to abacab's topic in Computer Systems
I'm starting to dislike developers. Too much bloat and video cards get outdated because of their shoddy development. Many games are over 100GB, Most games have a 1TB OS drives these days. Few allow quick saves which means they demand more of your time. Witcher 3 is one of the best games because it doesn't demand boutique hardware and has quick saves. Some games with checkpoints annoy you with redundancy. -

Wow! I still have a 9800GT still going. I've never had a video card die but only the fans on a unit. -
I decided to get the Mo-Verb for free,

Am I the only one who finds it annoying to do more than one click to find the price?

While the products are great at this point I would be collecting them. I have many of them and often I have to go to my account to see which ones I don't have. With the never ending sales of plugins by developers I have to wonder if many users have gotten to the point they don't need anymore.

When they sent the vouchers it said expires at the end of the month then they send another email changing the expiration.

Got an email last week from Image Line - someone trying to log in from a different IP address. Then one from Korg - Your account has been locked due to an excessive number of unsuccessful sign in attempts. Image Line is very good at preventing this, I'm waiting for the phising scams to fool you into logging into a fake site. I see this attempt with Paypal quite a bit.

Registered but didn't bother to install. I don't like how they install things. I have every effect from Izotope, Melda, and IK. I'm pretty much done with plugins.

Just in case in your Intel or AMD processor and Windows system somehow morphs into Big Sur and M1.

There would be people on the Steam forums that would claim you're an idiot. That's their level of knowledge and maturity. I rarely buy new games these days because they are bloated and demand too much time. You would never see a game developer work for Reaper. They would demand the file size be over 1GB and require a 4ghz CPU.
