Change speed AND pitch of audio track
User 905133 replied to Steve Moddelmog's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Another software option is to use a virtual modular synth than can play files where the speed (pitch and rate) is altered by a virtual control voltage. -
Thanks for the clarification. There's an *.ins file posted here: https://yamahamusicians.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13827 . I have crossed paths online with the writer of that file many times. I would encourage you to reach out to him if you have questions about the *.ins file. The file seems to contain MODX ROM Performance Names. Not being familiar with the MODX, I have no idea if that's everything or just what Royce needed for his purposes. In any case, I hope this helps.

The best ways I have found for finding *.ins files are to search on line and to ask user groups for specific gear. Usually, though, I would have to find something close and edit it with a basic editor like Notepad. I see that the artist known as deepsonic has the reference manual on line. A few decades ago deepsonic was kind enough to share with me some personal presets for the Casio VZ. Not sure that deepsonic uses CbB, but sending an e-mail couldn't hurt. By the way, what is the correlation between not having an *.ins file and being confined to using a VST3?

Thanks for undertaking this. I have played around with the GS-2 and tested a few ideas in some songs, but haven't done anything with Articulation Maps in CbB yet. Hosted in Voltage Modular, I have access to all of the exposed parameters, but I might be able to get into Articulation Maps with your articulation map. As for Default MIDI Maps, I was under the impression from the manual that the default maps were determined by users (by saving MIDI Learned parameter assignments as the default). I'd be interested to know if AAS provides a factory default map. Are you looking for where user-saved Default MIDI Map.txt is saved?

Even with the issues, it still sounds like a groovy little jam!

I assume this mean you Beatoven users can use the music generated without having to pay royalties for media content (e.g., background music) but cannot resell the music generated, distribute the music to streaming platforms, etc. If so, it makes sense because Beatoven users are not the creators of the generated music. I'd say this relates more to capitalism than to freedom and democracy.

I checked my PC which has default keyboard shortcuts. Although Tab and Shift+Tab do not map to Next Marker and Previous Marker, you have a good point here--that those functions can be mapped using Preferences [Advanced] > Customization > Keyboard Shortcuts (Global Bindings). Hmmm. The Online Documentation has this: Also, in answer to a different matter we have this: I don't use MIDI binding shortcuts, but maybe those would work to map to marker navigation functions.

Because of the wording, it was not 100% clear to me if @Mike Franklin was asking for Cakewalk demo projects or Music Creator 6 demo projects. Even with the ambiguity, it really is a simple, straight forward question. I answered in case the question was about Cakewalk [by Bandlab]. I never had Music Creator 6.

Warning: The song drops an "F-bomb" in a single line ["Who gives a **** if . . . ?]; the Q-word is also used in one spot; the plural version a slang term that rhymes with sticks happens once. So if those offend you, feel free not to listen. Other than the end being cut off, its a chance to witness humor in music that really can't be done on stage any more.

You are not the first to have issues with the requirement to periodically activate / reactivate software, so its not just you.

Setting so timeline slider will go wherever I want to put it
User 905133 replied to Muzician's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I agree! @Muzician Here are some quick links you might want to have bookmarked (browser, desktop, etc.). Both "Snap" and "Snap to Grid" are in the index. While the "Online Documentation" has a search feature, I have found that many times the Table of Contents and the Index are more efficient for me when used with my browser's Find feature [Ctrl + F]. -
To set markers on the fly during playback, press m on your computer keyboard. You can also use the Markers module on the Control Bar to add markers, name / rename them, navigate using previous and next buttons, and select markers using the drop down list. http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=ControlBar.14.html To jump around more quickly than using the drop down list in the Markers Module, use the Markers list. See Menu Bar > Views > Markers. Single click on a marker in the list. Double clicking on a marker brings up the marker editing dialog. Re: Markers and Arranger Sections, see http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Arranging.09.html

Its been a while since I dealt with Syntronik 2 issues, but the SYN2 versions include some presets designed specifically for Syntronik 2. Do you want those new presets? Personally, I like a number of them over the older presets. Another factor to consider: The older Syntronik presets can be used and tweaked with the older front panel hardware-style UI in Syntronik 2, but not with the snazzy, new Syntronik 2 Edit Panel. As for deleting Syntronik and just using Syntronik 2, there are several reasons to keep both. Two that I remember: (1) Some say that the older presets in Syntronik 2 can sound a bit different than when played with Syntronik. (2) Also, the IDs for the plug-ins are different.

For those old farts like me who say to themselves, "Wait a sec! Didn't I see this already?" Rest assured its not a sign of a false memory. Request to Cakewalk users who are tempted to re-post a copy of a prior post in a new thread: Please mention that the new post has been reposted from another thread. Thanks.

Are you looking for Demo Projects for Cakewalk by Bandlab? I just went to Help > Check for Updates. I am up-to-date with CbB 28.11.0.21 but I had a pop-up toaster notification asking if I wanted to download Cakewalk Demo Projects. I said yes / Download Now. The projects were downloaded and I now have a pop-up toaster notification that says: Download Complete . . . Ready to Install. The Installer was placed at C:\Users\ [My Account] \Downloads \ Cakewalk and is setup version 1.0.0.8. When I pressed "Install Now" on the pop-up, CbB extracted them to Cakewalk Content\Demo Projects. I have not changed the default file folder locations. One demo project is from 2018; the other is from 2021. I didn't download them previously. I assumed that "I have the latest update" means CbB, not Creator 6. If you are looking for demos that came with Creator 6, maybe someone else can help.

I don't use Tonex, but I found it (maybe). Make sure ToneNet is active [green dot in upper right] Search for bad cat cub [center of the Tonex UI] I found 4 listed [bottom panel] Bad Cat Cub 111 30 R- Drive Bad Cat Cub 111 30 R- Clean KPA Bad Cat Cub 40R - Drive KPA Bad Cat Cub 15W - Drive The first two are from The Studio Rat Maybe the top 2 models are the ones referenced in the e-mail & link provided. Not sure. From playing around with TONEX CS briefly, I saw that we can mix and match components (amp, cab, stomp). So if you like the clean Bad Cat Cub 111 30 R amp, you can use that with other modeled components. Maybe that might appeal to you. I defer to guitarists for aesthetic considerations of the different models and combinations. PS: I did the search using no filters. If you have filters on, that might keep you from seeing models. (The list filter is activated by the icon that looks like a funnel.)

MIDI USB connection/Friendly Name issue
User 905133 replied to Michael Forer's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I agree with Byron Dickens and others who mention various multi-port MIDI interfaces. It sounds like you are using 1 x 1 interface cables. Even with multiple 2 x 2 interfaces of the same model (E-Mu), Windows could only handle two at a time reliably. Three was iffy. Four was definitely problematic. I picked up some older iConnect MIDI multiple port interfaces (iConnectMIDI2 and iConnectMIDI4+) and when used with the iConnectivity configuration software, Windows is much happier with multiple MIDI ports. Not specifically recommending these; just using them as an example of the benefit of avoiding multiple 1 x 1 MIDI interface cables, especially generic ones. -
Glad to hear it worked for you!! I have two guesses as to how it could have changed: (1) Windows update or (2) CbB update. Just found this: https://blogs.windows.com/windowsdeveloper/2016/09/21/midi-enhancements-in-windows-10/ I won't pretend to understand it, but from my naïve perspective, I have a third guess (3) hardware or software might trigger something that says to WIndows, "use UWP." I will defer to explanations from others who know more about that stuff.

For the past several years I have been doing more and more with software synths and I've seen problems with those (non-responsive to program changes), but I seem to recall all my sound modules switched without incident when I last used my hardware synth module stack. I am curious now. I have one sound module currently connected to my Audio PC and will give it a try. Did a quick test: usb keyboard to CbB to 2x2 midi interface to Sound Module. Incoming MIDI data led lights up with note data and program change data. Realtime notes play, but realtime program changes don't change presets. I verified that "Receive Program Change" for all channels = on. AHA!!!! MIDI Driver Mode has been switched to UWP. I always use MME. Will switch that back and retest. BINGO!!!!!!!! Program Change commands now work. To switch MIDI Drive Mode (in case you want to try it), close your project (otherwise the UWP/MME box is greyed out. [P]references (Advanced) > MIDI > Playback and Recording > Driver Mode. IIRC there are a few other things that can syphon off / filter out midi commands. I have legacy gear, so MME has consistently worked better for me than UWP. Different people have success with different modes. If you search the forum for UWP, you can see what others say (UWP v. MME).

I remember I tested saving / restoring some meters via Workspaces a couple of years ago. There was some discussion in the forum about saving / restoring meters. IIRC someone from staff made some observations. I also recall going back and possibly the behavior had been changed. Not sure. I will look for the discussion. This is one discussion I found. Its not about scaling in take lanes, though.
-
Results of quick test: confirmed DB scale on take lanes does get reset after saving / reopening project Workspace didn't save / reload DB scale for take lanes confirmed a prior issue with muted / soloed takes upon reloading a saved project still exists soloed take doesn't sound unless it is re-soloed
-
Is it possible you are using a Workspace that reloads the DB scale? I don't remember if the DB scale is saved/restored and I don't have the time at the moment to double check. If DB scale does get saved and restored from a Workspace, try saving the workspace with a new name so you can retain the previous setting. See update posted below. In short, Workspace didn't save / reload DB scale for take lanes.
