  1. One of the things I like about the Q&A Section is that users can vote for the suggestion(s) they feel is best, is the method they prefer, etc.
  2. Did you try what tecknot said? If not, try what Nigel Mackay said.
  3. Cakewalk Professional for Windows 2.01 looks like a "collector's item."
  4. UPDATE: I cannot get the Event Manager settings to be saved/recalled with Workspaces. Not sure if I have done something wrong, or if they don't get stored because the Event Manager settings are not UI settings. If they are not, it might be nice to have some user definable presets somewhere--in the Event Manager or elsewhere. Also, couldn't save the settings with screensets. So, probably not considered UI savable settings.
  5. Sometimes what works on my PC doesn't work on others' PCs (and vice versa), but for me track meters can be hidden based on meter/track type--not per individual track. I also tested having just the track playback meters showing. That worked for me. The meters were hidden for tracks set to playback, but the meters were visible if the track was armed to record. Maybe its just my PC that works this way? Have you tried using Console > Options > Meters (see above)? The only thing I haven't gotten to work like this is the midi track meter--but I will try again. ** PS: Earlier today I did test saving a personal workspace to reflect which meters I want and that also worked for me. Again, I have had things work on my PC that didn't work the same way for others. If it will help with your personal workflow, I recommend tackling the Workspace learning curves. **I tried a few more times and was not able to get the meter on midi tracks to be hidden.
  6. Just trying to clarify here. Are you suggesting a feature request like this? Personally, I like and use meters, but I can understand reasons for wanting them all off. In my case, visual activity uses CPU power and sometimes causes unwanted audio artifacts by pushing overall CPU usage (and maybe system interrupts) too high on my particular PC. I have other workarounds, but if there were such a global feature, I'd probably use it on some occasions. That being said, if I could find where to turn off the midi meters, I'd try creating a customized Workspace to hide all of the meters at once.
  7. In my experience with, this is untrue. But we all have different experiences. Up until Windows 10 version 1909, my E-Mu [Creative] drivers and software worked. This includes working with SONAR/Cakewalk. As noted above, this conforms to my experience.
  8. Thanks for the reply. I am not sure why it didn't work with recorded audio until I converted it. However, when I dragged an audio recording from my media browser, it worked the way you showed. I did not have to convert it because CbB did the conversion when I dragged it from the browser to make a track. I will play with it some more. Cool tip. UPDATE: I tried it again and now it works without converting the audio track to a clip. No idea why it didn't work the first several times.
  9. I tried this on a piece of audio over and over and it didn't work. To get it to work I first had to convert a section of the audio track into a groove clip. Then it worked.

    Microsoft Edge

Yup. Edge is entrenched. I will stop trying to delete it. Thanks for all the insights.
  11. OT post (response to FR) removed
  12. From your description it seems to me that the ACT apparatus prevented the note data from going to the PRV keyboard animation apparatus. If we had a midi data flow chart we might know (1) if there is something else causing the behavior (and if so, what), (2) if the behavior is by design, or (3) if it is a bug (along with other odd behaviors which no one seems to know if they are intentional or bugs).

    Microsoft Edge

I only get those "great photos" when Windows 10 refuses to shut down when I click "Shut Down" (or Update and Shut Down) but instead goes to Standby / Sleep mode. Seriously, now that I think about it, the appearance of those photos are probably an alarm that Windows has changed my preferences and I need to go through my checklists yet again. I totally get that Microsoft wants to do things like rearrange my desktop icons, change display settings, undo my HDD extended partition configuration, reset my power settings, etc. However, I do not have to like it. Maybe I will check out the Collections sometime.

    Microsoft Edge

One of the issues I have had with Edge over the years is that MS will change my preferred default Browser to Edge without any regard to my personal preferences. (Surprise!) I found that by uninstalling Edge, this stopped. @msmcleod Are you saying that if I want to avoid problems with Cakewalk I should stop uninstalling Edge? If so, is it OK to keep changing my default browser (or will that mess with Cakewalk, too)? Thanks.
  15. JMO: (1) the semantic content of the various scenes within the trailer and the affective content of the score segments support each other to a high degree and (2a) you hit inflection points very well and (2b) the use of musical changes (including pauses) are used very effectively to underscore the drama of the spliced scenes. Not sure what kind of feedback you are looking for, but maybe these casual impressions will help. There is much in academic and popular literature related to music as a medium of communication from a multitude of perspectives.
  16. Anyone know if there is a way to use midi learn to control the settings in Objeq Delay? Thanks. Nope.
  17. Similar experience yesterday: I tested the issue by logging out and using the sign in button. Hovering turned the button a darker shade of green. Clicking opened my web browser where I could have logged in or signed up. Had to look up and type in my ID and Pwd. Once entered, I was taken to my account. I tried several times but the app itself did not log me in--only called up the website login.
  18. Are you saying this happens when you unplug the headphones? If so, perhaps the laptop's headphone jack has autodetect and when you pull the plug Windows tells software that the headphone output is no longer available which triggers the message that the output is no longer available to Cakewalk? If so, and your tracks are routed to the headphone ouput, do you get the sound back if you switch to a valid output?
  19. I do not use Bandlab (the web app), but I did test a few things last year for possible use with things I do using Cakewalk. I did look through the education section which Jim referenced (with a link). Not sure it has the information you want, but I would recommend exploring all of the various sections. Also, there is a Community access point (as well as others) on the Bandlab Blog page. In the '80s I did some Arts-in-Education residencies and I think the Bandlab model has a lot of possibilities for music education.
  20. There are some posts related to red flags and Surge 1.7.x in this thread. Based on my experience with that version, I downloaded the current installer and ran a couple of local scanners on my PC. Both came up clean. Windows Defender wouldn't let me run it until I said "Unblock" in the properties page for the download because it came from another computer. Maybe if you wait for 1.8.1, there will be no heuristic red flags at VirusTotal. That's what happened with me after I saw a red flag with 1.7.0, but when 1.7.1 came out a few days or so later, there were no heuristic red flags. So, I took a chance with 1.8.0 and I like the changes.
  21. Thanks for calling this to our attention!! The new features look very impressive. I am very pleased to see the FX can now be re-ordered ?, all of the new filters ? , along with many of the other changes.
  22. Conversely, some Win10 users have Cakewalk Analytics turned off (and have always had them turned off). Not sure if there's data on the % of users (XP, Win7, Win10) who have analytics on v. off.
