  1. Do you have a goal (or a set of interrelated goals)? Is it as simple as you state, to peck out tunes on your laptop's keyboard and mess around with them? If so, you already seem to know how to do that. In any case, you might do well to look in the tutorials thread. There are a number of tutorials in different styles on both generalized tasks and specific, targeted tasks. Some of those might either assist with your goal as stated or help you decide more specifically what you want to do. As for figuring out how to use a VSTi harp plug-in, I know I've seen some tutorials that show how to insert and use soft synths. Do you have a specific plug-in you want to use? If so, perhaps someone with that manufacturer's plug-in can help. I listened to your file using Cakewalk TTS-1, a basic multi-timbral soft synth that comes with Cakewalk. I changed the patch to Harp using the track control widgets, but it sounded like drumming like on the low strings on a piano. So on the menu bar I went to Process > Transpose and pitched it up 3 octaves (+36 half steps). At least the sounds were more harp-like, but I couldn't tell if there was a recognizable tune you were aiming for. If you were hitting notes on your laptop to try to simulate chords on a guitar, you might want to look into a basic strumming program.
  2. FYI: I suspect StringStydioVST.dll is a typo, but maybe not. PS: Google says typo (as opposed to being mixed up), too:
  3. Yeah--the Smith cover received quite a lot of airplay as I recall. Just for fun, I looked up covers and found this one (who knew?): Anyone know of an instrumental electronic version that incorporates the styles of Tomita, Booker T, and Telstar (and maybe a twist of 21st century disco)?

Its the grey on lighter grey issue, but it's there in the original image posted (same spot as in msmcleod's image). In the theming guide Colin Nicholls does, there's this: To me this suggests that there may be a color somewhere that MIGHT be tweakable. Perhaps its a matter of choosing a different theme? FOUND IT!!! So that means that everyone should be able to take their themes of choice and tweak the color of that parameter in the Theme Editor to a color that is more user friendly.
  5. Have used many times. Checked F1 for how to generate / use automation. Way friggin' cool! Thx.
  6. Is it blocked per Windows? [image of Properties box with the Unblock check box removed; I need the attachment space]
  7. Just in case it wasn't clear, both expressions of "Thanks" were and still are sincere. If you thought I was being sarcastic, I wasn't.
  8. I haven't used any referral codes because I heard about them after I upgraded from the Free Bundle to the licensed version of the Free Bundle. It just seemed to me that I was no longer a new customer. But if I can, I wonder if I can use my own referral code for a combined 30% off the Complete Bundle (on the current 60% off sale price, of course!). ?
  9. @msmcleod Thank you for this insight into what Cakewalk does with MIDI "under the hood." And thanks to @Terry Kelley for asking the question that led to this.
  10. Best wishes to you!!!
  11. I assume you already know (1) you can right click and change the duration and (2) can use a controller to input a note, but just in case not, here I changed a whole note to last 4 measures.
  12. I give up. (What's the punch line?)
  13. Well by that definition (which it sounds like you subscribe to) you are either not a gentleman or if you think you are a gentleman, your answer amounts to "Yes," as in you intentionally altered my post to deliberately be rude. I stand by my original comment applauding the OP's positive attitude. I wish that you hadn't used it as an opportunity to be rude and intentionally distort my meaning.
  14. You truncated my post and thereby changed my meaning. Did you do that on purpose?
  15. Found it! With the green I used (8AF912), I had to use Tungsten as a base to see it. Works with Mercury, too, but was hard for me to see it.
  16. I just hope (1) there are deep discounts for turning in pre-TPM PCs that cannot be upgraded and (2) Microsoft and their partners pay for this planned-obsolescence unless the local municipalities make money from recycling PCs.
  17. I have absolutely no idea how you missed that the comment was not directed at you.
  18. Evidently they have their phones off, but once I logged into my account (per scook's excellent suggestion), the generic promo link showed me the same offer (5 "complete your collection" professional products) but with Lizard Lounge in place of Objeq Delay. Two of the AAS soft synths were on my list to consider for November (BF Sale), but if I can get the money together now, the set of 5 is a good deal.
  19. Elsewhere it says "until 2025." That is, during or after 2025 there will be no more updates to Win 10.
