I don't "mix" on the 990's, I don't have speakers in the office (well proper Near Field Monitors). I use DT770's (closed back) in the studio when tracking someone else, (my CR and Vocal booth are not "isolated" from each other) they have the Sony (can't remember the model) cans with the retro fitted "cuffs" that look like the ones worn at the airport. Total isolation, no backing track gets into the vocal or instrument mics... t

The SVT in Amp4 is all you need; IMHO IMO t

Depending on how many "goodies" the buy gets to I'll have to consider it. As I said I just picked up the BM AC-30 and... well it didn't "shiver me timbers" t
-
I don't have the May collection, but I did buy the AC30 its based on; meh Randall Smith?, not a big fan (anyone who tries to patent circuitry that's been in the public domain for decades is a parasite) never played a Mesa I felt I could live without. (Now Rivera's that a different story, but I digress) What's an Orange amp sound like? I would hazard a guess you don't know any better than I do. Korg bought the name I think?, someone will correct me if I'm wrong I'm sure... (a guy wanted me to build him a cross between an Orange and an Ampeg; how would I know what that would sound like, why am I asking you?...) Slash is built on the Silver Jubilee; right? I'm more a "Plexi" guy but the Jubilee and the 2210's are great amps. (I'll pass on the 900 series, I know guys like 'em. Mostly those who never have "ridden" a good "Plexi" me thinks...) flame away folks, I let it "hang" out there, I got broad shoulders and opinions to match I guess t

Symphony #9 for the Virtual Orchestra, 4th movement
DeeringAmps replied to Jerry Gerber's topic in Songs
Yeah, pretty much everything Jerry does is! I'm a fan, what more can I say... t -
I neglected to add that the iridium sounds great! ? What's in the pedalboard? You boosting the signal before it hits the Iridium? I've never been a "pedal" guy; in the day it was one cord from the Paul, straight into the Plexi stack (pretty much wide open... well "dimed" anyway, I didn't have one of them fancy goes to "11" Spinal Tap Models) I did have a Tweed Twin that went to "12". (the dual rect, 40 watter, not the later, much coveted, "high" output one; it had four "big bottles", I assumed it was 80 watts, aren't all Twins? what did I know at the time?) But I never "abused" the Twin, bought it on "spec" for $25; pretty much the no-brainer deal price at the time... (Wholesaled it out at $300, top retail at the time was $500ish, right buyer, something else had caught my eye, needed cash...) I've been watching Tim Pierce's channel, he has a literal ton of vintage amps, but he always has some kind of "drive" pedal in front of the them... maybe that's the diff between "real" guitar players and "hackers" like myself... (I do put you in the former, not the latter, category btw) t boy I rambled a bit there, must be "age" catching up with me, sorry 'bout hijackin' your thread...

You pulled the bass up? Seems a little too upfront on the DT990's here. (bear in mind I've been adding a caveat to all my posts about where my ears are at these days...) You haven't worked on the drum track?, its seems to "lag" a bit at times. The snare is late sometimes; maybe. And the snare rolls kind of remind me of John Densmore; seems like he's always a bit late coming out of a roll. ? oh boy, I'll probably catch some crap for that... I like the tune, but I've mentioned that before. t

If I'm co-producing that's the only change I make. ? ? ?'s t unobtainium bestaminium! I've been riding an AXE II XL Plus of late

Sounds good on the DT990's here. Without the original to compare to, can't comment on the relative "improvement". But I know I "liked" it then and I "like" it now; so there is that. Love the freedy j/Lynn colab fer sure! t
-
Notes as I listen: 1) Bring the guitar up a bit in the intro 2) Liking the BGV's ?'s 3) Agree the midi horns are a bit too, well "midi" (wish I knew how to properly implement NI "Pro Horns", I have it somewhere...) 4) The "solo" guitar is a bit more pronounced, but I'd try an increase of a dB or 2 5) Do like the beat a lot! 6) "Open your eyes, open your mind" you're preaching to the choir here, but I like the message! 7) big ?'s on the outro (ending) well that's my running commentary Fred ? ?'s up and a backfield in motion from me! t

Some fine bass lines here, so a ?'s from me. Some very cool synth lines as well; definitely a plus there. t

Michael, given where my ears are at these days I'm reluctant to give the you're asking for. I did enjoy the listen and it seemed balanced here on the DT-990's. And I find them to be pretty "honest" cans; so there's that... HTH, t and you left me "hanging" waiting for that final "resolution" on the last note (that never came); well done on that!

Jesse goes all hippity hoppity, and we're not talkin' Peter Conttontail here! I love this Jesse! Rap on my brutha t how did I miss I'm on Fire? why am i asking you? ?

?'s! left my comments over at BandLab ? t

I doubt it, according to the article the MEMS mics are pretty consistent. Good question, I bought the "package" even tho I have both the ARC 1 and ARC 2 mics... t If I hadn't already "pulled the trigger" I might have gone the route @Eusebio Rufian-Zilbermannsuggested. But, truth be told, I was/am looking for a way to avoid "MixBox". I pulled the trigger too soon months ago on AT5, the "free" version would have done everything AT5 has done for me so far... And now I could have had AT5 for "free". just my nickel98 ?

For years my "studio" was shared office space (a 12 x 14 bedroom) with my wife. We use the "tools" we have at hand. t
-
I bought ARC 1 way back when (2011, upgraded to ARC 2 in 2012). Have used it ever since. Many think its simply "magic dust", others swear by it. Again, its always on in my studio. The last update to ARC 2 was over 4 years ago, I'm off to make the buy I made the buy! t I hope not...
-
Thanks Lars! Guess I'm "in" with ARC 3 then, got a mess o "whammy/jammy" points. Still lots of "goodies" that the $150 will buy... t I needed an excuse not to go MixBox anyway!
-
I'm sure this is covered somewhere (but I'm a lazy bus-turd) and the thread is 9 pages now... If I buy MixBox can I choose ARC 3 (with the mic) as a freebie? Or, IIRC from last year, must "hardware" be your/my first choice? @cclarry and @Peter - IK Multimedia TIA t
-
Its all been said so I'll just add some ?'s! t
-
Had a second listen, seems the consensus is the drum track needs some massaging. The "bones" are here, fine songwriting as always Barry; but you've spoiled us, what else would we expect? t I'll hold my "like" for the next mix...
-
I'll second (or is it third, forth, am I even in the top ten?)! t

?'s t I always thought it was "I fart in your general direction"

Yes, I got that. Perhaps @Jim Roseberrywill chime in and let us know if the m.2 can be partitioned and maintain its "lightening fast" performance. Most of us are "hobbyists" (me included), so I can understand the need/desire to keep it simple/affordable. For me, the OS has got to be kept to as "light" footprint as possible, if for no other reason, to keep imaging the C drive a manageable task... (time and space) It would appear that its working well for @Johnbee58
-
Using the m.2 drive for the OS is a waste of resources, IMHO IMO. Keep the OS "lean & mean", 256gb is way more than enough in a properly configured system. All executables, dll's (you know, the programs); that kind of thing on the C drive. Samples that stream, or you use regularly, on the m.2 (you know, Superior Drummer, {all Toon products}) Trilian, Omnisphere (you get the picture). Samples with a small footprint, or you use only occasionally, put on a regular SSD. Projects need their own drive! I'm still using "spinning platters", but I'm a dinosaur! 3 drives minimum are necessary for a properly configured DAW! There, I've said it! I get that its not always possible/practical/affordable. Lets not debate it, you know I'm right. And believe me when I say: I know great things CAN be done with an SM57 and a 4 track tape recorder, but its 2021... t At roughly $100 a TB, I'll soon be SSD in all my systems exclusively. But when I was offered a Charter Membership in Procrastinators Unanimous I just couldn't get around to joining...
