Introducing Cakewalk Next and our new brand identity
DeeringAmps replied to Jesse Jost's topic in News & Announcements
(There fixed it for you) BandLab has more than “paid” Henry’s debt to all of us that bought “lifetime” updates. (Anyone that doesn’t see that “free” updates for the “life” of any product is an unrealistic business model; well, there’s one born every minute…) Its time to “man up” and throw some coin in the hat and keep this going forward. CbB is Sonar (always has been) and now will be labeled Sonar again. Your cwp and wrk projects are safe. Two questions remain: 1) How long will CbB work after “Sonar” is released? 2) How much will Sonar cost? (my guess is that whatever the price you will have a 12 month payment option. Not really a “subscription”, just a time payment “plan”) but what do I know? so we can all stop wringing our collective hands and suggesting what the company should do, et cetera, et cetera. And please stay on topic! The thread downstairs was closed because some just couldn’t behave in a civil manner. That is all… t -
You can bet on that. Definitely never pay retail at Softube. IKM is probably the only vendor that discounts more aggressively.
-
Pretty sure it will continue to work. Just no further support or updates. May work a “treat” for years to come.

Ditto, but pretty much use the PC-1176. When is a “deal” not a “deal”? Shame on Softube for not disclosing that the MKI would sunset in three years. t

Exactly! A quick search of QuickBooks tells me I have approximately $2356 invested starting at Cakewalk Pro 3.0. $107.51 for the "Lifetime" updates. (odd number, but that's what QB shows.) Using CbB for FREE for 5 years has certainly "paid" that debt (that was Henry's, not Meng's responsibility) IF you plan to NEVER pay for SONAR as you were f**d by Henry, well we "get it", but please go and "troll" elsewhere! That is all... t- 715 replies

Classic Freddy J. I loves it! ?'s ? t

?'s (I'll hold the ? for the final mix) Yes, we are all locust, consuming all we encounter. Only crit; "it seems as if we're walking to the long dark night" I would make that one long phrase, just as it is written; your song, your production. t

There is that, exorcising some pain here John? The flute is very good, is the verb on that native to the VSTi? Good bass lines, as usual John; ?'s. t

Just this one project is troublesome? My “old” StudioCat is 16 gigs and I’ve never “swamped” the memory, but mostly EZD (or SD3) EZK, and Trilian, (or EZB or ModoBass) are the main VSTi’s (IK’s Hammond as well) my workflow dictates that I do some freezing to keep latency to a minimum. Freezing, bouncing a two track mix (then archive the raw tracks), were common practice before I got the first Cat. If this is the only project with issues I would rebuild it from scratch and see what happens (save a backup copy to the external drive) If it continues to be “problematic” or later becomes problematic work the external project (from the external drive) to see if it’s specific to the SSD. In the meantime, get some diagnostics from Dell and check the m.2 for errors. Drives do “die”. How full is the internal SSD? t
-
What VST’s are in that session? Bypass all VST (keystroke “e”) then turn Trilian back on (e should bypass VSTi as well) can you save safely then? Its just this one project that is problematic? I’ve never had a corrupt project, but it happens. Less than 16 gigs? t
-
Sounds like an m.2 SSD. Type of drive is irrelevant. What we need to know is if the drive itself is “healthy”. Save the current project to your external drive (rename it “project-ext”) Run both at the same time. Do a few edits, then save. Do the same on the external drive; save. Repeat until you get a crash. If both can cause a crash the problem is the project, or more likely a VST. Like Dave, I’d be surprised if Trilian is the root cause. I would want to test the SSD just as John suggested. In my opinion (experience) “best practice” requires three drives. OS, Project, and Samples. I have a laptop I can run CbB on (it’s a single drive) but it’s pitiful and I rarely have the patience to use it. I realize that your Dell is likely 100 times the machine that laptop is, but a single drive? No, three drives minimum in a modern DAW; sorry but anything less, ?♂️. Last question: how full is the drive? t
-
Yes, absolutely! I think the pics made the story line much more relevant! Especially loved the shots of Harry's shop. (kind of surprised this has "fallen thru the cracks", but often folks skip titles they have already commented on...) And just a note; listened in the van, and that hypes the low mids and bass. Sounded pretty good in the van (read that as "passed" the van test, if a tune is "muddy" in the low end the van really brings it out). ?'s ? t

Never the one you haven’t met- always the one you can’t forget

Listening in the van today, this is by far the best balanced mix yet. (The low mids and bass are always problematic in the van, this one passes the “van test”) Another excellent video Nigel ?? t -
Mostly I’m glad I can’t remember what I wrote in ‘67 ? This is great Barry! t
-
Listening in the van today, and it hypes the bass and low mids. You’ve got a bass guitar and synth bass going? What I’m hearing as the bass guitar sounds really good. I’d bring the vocal up; based on what I’m hearing in the van. ?‘s t
-
What about a thumb drive? Create a simple project and save to the thumb drive. Make a few edits; will it save normally? Add Trilian, will it save normally? OS, Samples, and projects are all on one drive?
-
What happens if you move the project to a different drive? I would want to be sure that my audio drive isn’t having issues. Just a thought… t

We’ll there is that…
