Yours and mine both! But, pretty sure I could "guess" in a double blind test which is 4 and which is 5 (at least in this demo). The simple answer is no. Any plug-in would be after the “clip”. Use an analog compressor to control the level, or set the gain low enough to avoid the clipping. Two schools of thought in the modern age. With 24 bits of headroom, and the low self noise of modern hardware, most just set the gain low enough to avoid clipping. Being of a certain age, I prefer to compress on the way in. Take your choice. tom
