Quite an impressive piece Jerry. So I'm wondering how you go about creating something like this. It just seems free form to me, like it's not written beforehand but written as you go along, one section suggesting the next but directed by your mood minute by minute.

reggae-ish and a bit Cardi-B (?) I always like your creative approach to music and this one doesn't disappoint. Very good!

Can't believe how prolific you are and yet your songs maintain such high quality every time. Always a pleasure hearing your latest Doug.
-
Love the guitar and mridangam (never knew what a mridangam was before this). I like the song quite a lot but to me it got a bit repetitive after a while.
-
Yeah, a different style than what I'm used to hearing from you, Freddy. I like the "it is what you make it to be." Tom mentioned Mr Sandman, but to me it sounded a bit like 26 miles (the Catalina Island song). Hey maybe that's where happiness is!

Doug Thanks for the comment Wookie ? Mark It's surprising how many old movies and cartoons can be downloaded - and messed with. Daryl Yeah, that was a lot fun. Thinking now of fooling around with the dialogue. tom Thanks tom. Keep yer shoes on! Jacques I actually thought the movie was more sinister without any kind of soundtrack too. But it's like a big canvas to an artist - gotta fill it in with something. ☺️

This is an 8 min condensed version of Dracula, the 1931 horror movie with Bela Lugosi. The film doesn't have music or sound effects so I put some in with Omnisphere and u-He Zebra. The movie is public domain, downloaded from the Prelinger archives.

To me it's all about googling my name and my tracks pop up from various places, amazing my friends and relatives and especially my obnoxious brother-in-law with the Porsche.
-
Daryl, I like it esp that wah wah-ing guitar. Engaging melody and backing track too. Must have been a lot of work putting the video together! I can see you Googling "movies with running in them"

Missed this the 1st time around. Impressive production where everything works and, being a lyrics guy, I like the clever title.

Very good!

David, Very pleasant and a nice touch with the ocean waves. Which orchestral library are you using? I ask because the strings esp violin sound so much better than what I've done. Also do you put in a lot of articulations on the instruments?
-
I really like this one. All the parts are very good - orchestration, drums, excellent voc - making the whole thing sound professional. Only crit is the guitar around 3:50 seemed too loud to me. Hope you stay inspired to keep on making music.

Doug Thanks. I had auditioned a guitar, a cello, a violin, a bassoon and a clarinet to play the melody but the synth horn won out at the end. tom and Nigel Thanks for your comments. Appreciate that. Tom, I highly recommend NI acoustic pick Vst. Seems to fit in almost everywhere and sounds great. If you listen to it closely you realize that most patterns aren't all that tricky to do if you're competent at guitar, which I'm not.

Tom Love that old blues sound which you captured very well with the instruments and you really got it going with the vocal. Nice!

Hi Lynn My 1st impression was that the song sounded familiar, like another one of yours from a while ago? Anyway, I really got into the song. Like it a lot. I've mentioned before that my hearing has gone downhill the last couple of years so I don't trust my ears to make meaningful comments. For example I heard some distortion at 1:07 but no one else commented on that so I don't know. Very nice moody piece Lynn. To me it reflects on how I feel after reading the paper every morning, day after day...

Hi Doug Great rockin' tune and guitar work. Have you ever tried making a music video? I think your lyrics would make a good story in a video.
-
Thanks everyone for the comments. Didn't realize the voc was too low so will check that out. Daryl, I appreciate you mentioning the vocal effect. Wasn't sure how that would come across. Freddy, lately I've been listening to a lot of blues guitar from way back - 1920s to 1950s. I have nothing in common with those guys except I love the music.
-
But..but they're doing it all wrong! ☺️

Some keyswitches stay on but I think most of them only stay on for duration of keypress. In SO1 5 if the Vst has embedded keyswitch articulations then the keyswitch always stays on until you change it. Which doesn't work for things like slide keyswitches where you want it to disengage when you take your finger off the key. Example Load Presence Nylon Guitar Play some notes then hit the A0 key to make a slide The A0 key stays engaged and now every note you play slides, which is not the behavior I'm used to seeing.

Interesting piece. Seems like you were trying for a mid East type scale but it's a bit meandering. I think I'd tone down the background sounds which to me became a little distracting. Thanks for posting.

Can't say much more than what's already been said. Just excellent.

You'll probably get a lot of "not what I usually listen to" around here, me included, but have to say that I liked it. Very infectious energy and toe-tapping beat. Cool lyrics too (never heard "boobs" in a love song before ☺️). Nice job.
