  5. Umm... maybe... but nowhere in the webpage for this patch set does it mention Unify...

I think that the news about the discontinuation of support for Absynth has created an opportunity of interest in Absynth that Skippy is taking advantage of (nothing wrong about that) with this sale.

Note that I am not implying that these patches won't work in Unify or are any less awesome because they are not designed specifically to work in Unify.

Yes, the VST2 dll pulls double duty as a regular VST and PC module just like the Cakewalk CA-2A. And just like the CA-2A the plug-in UI depends on where the plug-in is instantiated.

C:\Audio\VST64\64Main\Cakewalk is my default Cakewalk plugin folder for 64bit VSTs

I placed the 64bit VST, "FET Compressor.dll", in
    C:\Audio\VST64\64Main\Cakewalk\FET Compressor
    (see previous sentence)
and now I have the Softube FET Compressor in Pro Channel!

    Thanks @scook for the tip!

Note: that the ProChannel version only has access to the shown controls (i.e. the 5 knobs).

  7. That's a great price for a great plugin.
I already have several nice versions (PSP, Arturia, Waves) - just debating if I need yet another.

Here's some good info, if you're curious, on various 1176 VSTs models.
Top 11 Best FET Compressor Emulation Plugins For Your DAW
For example if you're checking to see which ones have a lookahead feature (answer: Softube & Arturia)
or if you're can't remember/are trying to figure out how many FET clones you already own..,

  8. Oh wow - a $50 vinyl simulator that I can add to my collection of mostly freebies.
    (e.g. Vinyl Plugin—Free Lofi Plug-in | iZotope)

Be still my heart lest you burst from my chest.
Just the thought that I might be able to relive my teenage dreams of longing for something better than my old long since junked General Electric Trimline Stereo 500 Vinyl Record Player

give me the shivers and perhaps a cold sweat...

Speaking of nostalgia - for $48.95 I can help you recreate that old west Bar-B-Que flavor that was so highly prized by the old west.
Introducing Buffalo Chips(tm) - made in America.
Just toss the authentically organic sun died buffalo pie on the coals (or gas burner) of your Bar-B-Que to enjoy that unique smokey flavor of prairie trail gourmet chuck wagon cuisine.

Also introducing Donkey Chips(tm) - now even a novice can make everything taste like @ss.

  9. Major u-he MFM2 update

    MFM2.5 has been released!

Firstly, MFM2 has just taken a giant leap forward: Most obviously, the original "3D disk" UI has been replaced by a much more practical design. Under the hood, we added CLAP as well as native support for Apple Silicon (M1) CPU, macOS Monterey.

Some other notable improvements in version 2.5:

    • New input section with transient control and filter
    • "Granular": pitch shifter, syncable to song tempo
    • "Diffusor": from audio smear to complex reverbs
    • Full preset browser, preferences page, MIDI Learn pages

    Note:

The current version of Avid's toolkit for building AAX plug-ins is not compatible with the Apple SDK needed to build plug-ins for Apple's new ARM/M1 processors. We are therefore not able to provide updated AAX versions on macOS, neither for Intel CPUs, nor for Apple M1. If you're a Pro Tools user on macOS, please continue using the previous version of MFM2 for the time being. Once the AAX toolkit supports Apple's M1 processor architecture, we will provide new AAX versions for macOS, with support for Big Sur and both Intel and Apple M1 CPUs.

Can't see what is unique about BioTek. It's several normie synths stacked together.

LOL - can't see if you don't take the time to look...
    https://www.tracktion.com/products/biotek

    BioTek is a beast.
Multiple facets for creating a large variety of tones.
Looks like a tweaker dream - you could probably get lost for years just with all the sonic possibilities.

BUT having said that I am actually just a bit underwhelmed by default sample library - lots of stuff there but not really that impressed with a lot of it.
Maybe I was just demoing the wrong patches or maybe just jaded.

If I was just starting to build my synth library I'd jump at this - it's a great price for something with a lot of possibilities.
But personally, at the moment, I've already got enough beasts in my zoo that don't get enough attention.

    Hello

So I have two computers. Laptop and desk top. I have the same VSTs on both computers. When I open a project on one computer that was recorded (or just mixed a little) on the other computer, sometimes the VSTs are considered MISSING (see image) and aren't loaded into the session.

Does anyone have an answer to why this might happen and what I might do about it?

    Thanks very much.

    MISSSING.PNG

Moved to a new computer and I have this happens on every project I open.
Some of the errors I can fix by re-adding the VST2 version (where the plugin was replaced by VST3) back in the VST scan path, or by digging up and installing the 32bit version.

Additionally, we do not support Cakewalk anymore since the release of the Opus Edition collection and Opus engine,

WTF...  I guess I missed that fine print.
TBH I've barely used Opus since I got it due to a combination of personal & computer issues (my audio computer died and had to be replaced) but as Cakewalk is my main DAW that is disappointing news.  I probably would not have upgraded had I realized that.

V2 doesn’t have the “not enough space” bug.

I'm not upgrading till they add it.

Once you let them get away with leavin stuff out you're just invitin' trouble.

Not sure why this was posted now. The v16 update was released back in early June. I installed it on 8 June. Is there something I missed?

Cause Melda formally announced it today?

  16. When I was playing Quake II my boys were little (4 &5) and they had previously not been allowed to see (anyone) play these kind of games.

They loved to watch me play and would cheer me on.  The boss fights were too scary though, they would hide under my desk until I was victorious and it was safe to come out.
