per Google: WebView2 is pre-installed on Windows 11 and is also included on most Windows 10 devices, meaning it is essentially included with both operating systems; however, for Windows 10, it may need to be manually installed on some older versions depending on the update level. Key points about WebView2: Pre-installed on Windows 11: This means it comes automatically with every new Windows 11 installation. Widely available on Windows 10: Most Windows 10 devices should have WebView2 installed, but older versions might require a manual update. Evergreen Runtime: WebView2 uses an "Evergreen Runtime" which automatically updates in the background on both Windows 10 and 11. So if you have Windows 11 and don't have WebView2 installed (assuming that you didn't manually delete it) you might have other issues as well. If it was me and I ran into that issue on any of my Windows machines I'd do a little system maintenance i.e. Open an elevated command window and run SFC /SCANNOW then DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth These are basic IT tech tools, if you don't know what these do - Google them*. (not being rude or snarky just don't have the time at the moment to explain them when it's so easy to look it up)

or because I grabbed the wrong set of glasses again... (so a resource issue on my end?)
-
If it stays blurry it's because the plugin can't find its resources. Possibly something screwed up during the installation process or it can happen if you take the VST3 plugin (1) out of its folder (2) because it needs the contents of the Resources folder (3) to render the GUI. Most developers don't use html GUIs on their plugins. Nothing wrong with that approach (probably makes it easy to have cross platform versions) just not the most common. This structure - Folder.vst3, contents, resources, etc. is actually the lastest VST3 spec; which is why you see more & more devs adopting it, though many don't use the Resources folder for anything that matters. Now days I just move the whole folder.vst3 to organize/cleanup things instead of bothering to extract the actual plugin.vst3 file. You usually can move the whole Folder.vst3 (with its contents) to another location (i.e. subfolder) within the C:\Program Files\Common\VST3 to organize thing if you wish. I don't bother with the UAD plugins because the installer just reinstalls them back to the root of that folder everytime it runs.

I purchased this yesterday. I have an account at Sweetwater and paid by PayPal and it took around 15 minutes for me to get my license.

FabFilter has just updated Pro-Q to v4.02, which contains various bug fixes and improvements like the new per-band Spectral Tilt parameter. They recommend everyone to download and install this new version. You can verify the version number that's currently installed by clicking Help > About in the Pro-Q 4 interface. Changes in Pro-Q v4.02: Added Spectral Tilt parameter per band. If enabled, a tilt of 3 dB/oct is applied to the input spectrum before it is used to trigger the spectral dynamics processing. By applying this gentle tilt to the spectrum, higher frequencies will trigger slightly more than lower frequencies, which helps to get more natural sounding results. When the plug-in is in Linear Phase processing mode, Character Mode oversampling will now also be linear phase. Improved copying and pasting of bands: if you're pasting bands within the same instance, the pasted bands will now get a small frequency offset so that it's easier to distinguish them from the originally copied bands. If the instance list is used with a DAW that doesn't report the instance track index (e.g. Pro Tools or Logic Pro), instances are now sorted by track name using an improved algorithm that compares numbers in a natural way. For example, "Track 2" is sorted before "Track 10". The instance list now only shows instances from the same project in DAWs that report this information (most VST3 hosts and Pro Tools). All Pass filters will now show as bypassed when the plug-in is in linear phase mode, since they won't have any effect in that case. Fixed a bug that could cause a temporary DC offset in the output when changing the slope of a Low Cut filter at very low slope values (< 6 dB/oct). Fixed a possible crash that could happen in rare cases when enabling Spectral mode for a band. Fixed a bug that could cause audible artifacts when changing the gain or dynamic range of an EQ curve while is was actively applying dynamic changes. Fixed a bug where clicking and dragging the EQ Sketch button could sometimes lead to an area selection instead of an EQ Sketch action. Fixed a bug that could cause Alt+Shift+click on EQ curves (toggling slopes) to skip some of the slope settings or ignore fast clicks. Fixed an issue that could cause the output to be abruptly cut off when stopping playback in some DAWs in combination with ringing, resonant filters. Improved factory presets with more meta data and some small tweaks. Minor bug fixes and improvements. FabFilter Pro-Q 4.02 is available for download at: www.fabfilter.com/download More about Pro-Q 4: www.fabfilter.com/products/pro-q-4-equalizer-plug-in

I must admit that I had interpreted this as meaning that as an owner of v1 that I would receive v2 for free. So slightly disappointed. Should have gone to their website and verified the terms and conditions for myself.

If you check in the iLok Manager - looks like most of their plugins (unless there's been a recent update that changes this) will only authorize to iLok USB (2,3), or iLok Cloud. Note that, as shown, authorizing with iLok1 or directly on your computer is disabled.

If you mean putting out hacked versions - probably, as it has happened many times before.

Cableguys updates ShaperBox to v3.5.5 and MidiShaper to v1.6.1 (Feb 4th) Most of their other plugins had updates in December (in case you missed them) Download the latest versions from your user account. https://www.cableguys.com/user-account Changelog for ShaperBox 3 (inc. ReverbShaper, TimeShaper 3, DriveShaper 2, NoiseShaper 2, FilterShaper Core 3, LiquidShaper, CrushShaper 2, VolumeShaper 7, PanShaper 4, WidthShaper 3) 3.5.5 - February 4, 2025 =================================== - Improved: Up to 256 MIDI ports can now be addressed, whereas previously only the first 16 were selectable. - Fixed: When using the VST3 version in FL Studio or Maschine, the sidechain input did not work unless the plugin's power button was toggled, and adjusting sidechain settings could cause a crash. Additionally, loading the plugin in place of any other sidechain-enabled plugin could cause the sidechain input to stop working until the project was reloaded. Changelog for MidiShaper 1.6.1 - February 4, 2025 =================================== - Improved: Up to 256 MIDI ports can now be addressed, whereas previously only the first 16 were selectable.

Scuffham Amps S-Gear (GTR amp sim) on sale for $97 (MSRP $149) at Best Service https://www.bestservice.com/en/s-gear.html?sv=1

Great minds think alike, that sounds similar to what I use for my initial evaluation. I also have a guitar test project that I use to evaluate & compare guitar amp sims (Tonex, Helix, Amplitube, and anything else I've acquired that I thought was passable). It gives me a good idea of whether or not a plugin is something I might be interested in actually using. I really should update the project with tracks from different guitars, different pickups and different playing styles - currently it only has one track a rock rhythm/lead thing probably from my Les Paul using the bridge humbucker; but the project does what it is intended to do. Maybe someday when I have more time. Speaking of guitar sims - I miss the old Cakewalk DX amp sim. It had limited options but it got some excellent rock tones that mixed well with recorded guitars/& other amp sims or could stand up on their own. In listening to some of my old projects it's surprising how good it sounded and this was before I got 99% of the stuff I have now.

For licensing or just inspecting a plugin I use SaviHost https://www.hermannseib.com/english/savihost.htm I just put a short cut on my desktop and I can drag & drop a plugin on to it and up it pops. Much quicker than loading a DAW especially since you'll have to run a plugin scan for the DAW to even see it (if it's a new plugin). There are a couple of plugins that won't run in SaviHost but over 90% of the time it just works.

Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 Canary build for Windows Insiders. Build 27788 is now available for download with fully rewritten MIDI services, ... https://www.neowin.net/news/windows-11-canary-build-27788-adds-reworked-midi-services-new-onedrive-features-and-more/ Cakewalk has previously worked with Microsoft on cutting edge audio issues. Wonder how much Bandland/Cakewalk is in the loop with this set of developments? Here an excerpt from the changelog: Windows MIDI Services Public Preview We’re excited to release the first in-box public preview of Windows MIDI Services, our complete rewrite of MIDI on Windows with a focus on a great experience for musicians and a strong foundation for future expansion and enhancement. MIDI is the standard, first released in 1983, that is used to synchronize synthesizers and drum machines in almost all modern electronic music. It’s used to record and play back note information, control stage lights and effects, keep mixers in a large venue in sync, and so much more. Although it is not itself audio, the MIDI protocol is essential to making music and was heavily used in the rise of hip-hop and other genres. MIDI 2.0 is the first major update to the core MIDI protocol since 1983, offering everything that modern musicians need today, like increased speed and fidelity, better control of instruments, modern bi-directional conversations and negotiation between instruments, discovery, better USB timing, and more. Windows MIDI Services is our new MIDI stack which handles not only MIDI 2.0 but also brings our MIDI 1.0 implementation up to modern expectations. It works on 64-bit operating systems on all supported processors, including Arm64. Windows MIDI Services offers the following benefits: Full support of the MIDI 2.0 Standard, including high-speed data transmission, higher-fidelity messages, increased resolution for controller values, and full in-service MIDI 2.0 endpoint discovery and protocol negotiation. Faster transports, leading to better timing and reduced jitter. Faster USB MIDI driver with full support for both MIDI 1.0 and MIDI 2.0. Every endpoint is now multi-client, meaning multiple apps can use a device at the same time. Better endpoint and port In-service scheduling of outgoing timestamped messages, and timestamped incoming messages, for apps using the new Windows MIDI Services App SDK. Built-in loopback and app-to-app MIDI Automatic translation between MIDI 1.0 and MIDI 2.0 based on API, application, and device needs. Much more device metadata available to applications. Better device add/update/remove notifications. Backwards compatibility with our WinMM (MME) MIDI 1.0 API (and WinRT MIDI 1.0 in the future) enabling applications to light up with new features without any changes, and even access MIDI 2.0 devices at a MIDI 1.0 feature level. Open source. The MIDI Service, all its transports, all the tools, the tests, and the SDK are all MIT-licensed open source, and have been developed in concert with hardware and software partners around the world. New USB MIDI 2.0 Class Driver: The new USB MIDI 2.0 Class Driver, graciously provided to Microsoft by AMEI (Association of Musical Electronics Industry of Japan) and written by AmeNote, is a high-speed USB MIDI driver which works with both the new USB MIDI 2.0 devices, as well as with class-compliant USB MIDI 1.0 devices. By default, for compatibility, this is enabled only for USB MIDI 2.0 devices and a handful of USB MIDI 1.0 devices. However, you may manually assign this driver to any class-compliant USB MIDI 1.0 device yourself to gain the better transfer mechanisms. We also have several built-in transports for things that were not previously available without third-party drivers. Learn more about the built-in transports here. Windows MIDI Services App SDK and Tools: Applications using Windows MIDI Services do so through the Windows MIDI Services App SDK, shipped out-of-band. Current preview releases are available on our GitHub repo releases page. Please note that these are unsigned releases and so will give you a warning when you download and install. In addition to installing the required runtime components, the SDK runtime installer includes these tools: Windows MIDI Services Console (midi.exe): The all-around console tool for sending messages, checking the state of MIDI, monitoring incoming messages, sending System Exclusive, and much more. MIDI Diagnostics (mididiag.exe): A tech support tool which provides information about the state of MIDI on the PC. MIDI Kernel Streaming Endpoint Info (midiksinfo.exe): A hardware developer-focused tool which provides information about the KS (Kernel Streaming) endpoints. MIDI multicast dynamic DNS Info (midimdnsinfo.exe): A tool to support the upcoming Network MIDI 2.0 transport. The Windows MIDI Services App SDK also includes the MIDI Settings app – a desktop application for managing endpoints, renaming endpoints and ports, creating loopback devices, managing your network MIDI 2.0 connections, and more. In addition, we’re currently working on our Network MIDI 2.0 transport, recently demonstrated at the NAMM Show in California, the virtual patch-bay to enable routing between endpoints, and a rewrite of our BLE MIDI 1.0 transport. This will all ship in a future version of Windows MIDI Services. We look forward to having Windows Insiders who dabble in music creation try out the Windows MIDI Services Public Preview and MIDI 2.0. Try out using existing applications that use the WinMM MIDI 1.0 function with the new Windows MIDI Services installed. Additionally, any MIDI 1.0 devices with specific IHV drivers. You can also join the discussion here on Discord if you have questions or are looking to help! You will find a list of known issues documented here.

I have SF Pro 11 and my upgrade price to SF Pro 18 is $79.99 https://www.magix.com/us/music-editing/sound-forge/sound-forge-pro/ Available until December 29, 2024 No need to get SFP17 if you have an older version and plan on upgrading to SFP18. I don't need 18 so I might just jump on this deal to get a more current version.
