I take it that free burgers didn't have quite the effect they hoped for then?

I thought this was gonna be about the latest age group to "offered" the vax.

I downloaded the demo from PIB a couple of years back and couldn't even get CW to recognise it before the demo period expired. CW just wouldn't pick it up on the VST scan no matter what I did. That's not totally unheard of with CW, but usually I can get around it by moving the .dll to a different location and adding that to the scan path. In the end I gave up as I only have so much patience when it comes to a demo that doesn't work. All the other AIR synths I have work fine, so no idea why CW didn't like this one. I can't try it again now as I guess it would go straight to demo expired mode given that technically I have had the demo installed before.

Meanwhile their price to upgrade from v1 is $49.99. LMAO. Amateur hour at PIB again.
  6. Given that they've only just re-introduced an offline authorisation method, I doubt that they are about to remove that facility again. They must have been getting enough customer feedback requesting it to make them bring it back. Hopefully it will something along the lines of a revamped CCC which gave the best of both worlds. That said, my DAW pc is offline, but it really isn't that big a deal to connect up for about 3 seconds every 6 months. I haven't even installed the last few updates yet as there is nothing in them that I feel I must have. Of more concern to me is the day that it becomes win10 only. I won't be changing hardware just to accommodate a software update, so until a new pc becomes necessary that will be that, which again is no big deal really. One particular bug aside that they seem strangely reluctant to fix (I've given up asking) it does everything I need it to already.
  7. He said yesterday that CW is going to have it's own standalone installer and BA will be deprecated "soon".
  8. I was going to write that this is actually pretty good, but something weird seems to happen when freezing or bouncing to track in that the audio is very different to how it sounds with the synth open and driven by the midi track. The part I just did is fine that way, but freeze/bounce it and it is totally different plus sometimes it continues playing where there are no notes. I noticed just when playing that it hangs sometimes. So, in the last two hours I've gone from...hmmm worth a look > ooh it's really quite good, especially for free > I must be missing something here > sod it I'll watch TV for a bit and try again tomorrow, maybe what is eluding me now will become obvious then.
  9. 60% off Brian May ? Did someone cut his hair?
  10. Well whatta d'ya know -I have some sounds that I didn't even know I had - forgot all about AAS player. Anyhoo, FWIW the closest I can find to "Bistro" in Cinémathèque is "Bistre" and I'm not really hearing any difference between that patch in the player or in VA3 itself. Yes there are some highish frequencies but everything sounds like it was meant to be there. Holding down a chord a string sort of sound comes in after a while and then goes again and does not return until further keys are pressed, which I just put down to it being an evolving type pad. Is that what you mean? I don't have Starlight and can't find anything close to that patch name in the swatches section of AAS player, so can't help you there.
  11. Offer lasts until 17/6 - the offer is free for 1 month. Or put another way it's a time limited demo.
  12. Weird that they seem to be putting so much effort into this now when Noel has already said that they are about to bin it.
  13. It was about way more than fees. The SB accounts were the best deal in town by a long way. Borrowing rate fixed at 1% below Bank of England base rate (which IIRC was about 3% at the time ) the ability to overpay on any borrowing whenever you wanted to thus reducing min payments and/or length of the borrowing period, get the overpayment back later if it turned out that you needed it for something, plus pre-agreed further borrowing that was a phone call away and paid into your account within days, plus if you moved house the whole thing could just be transferred to the new house with you, so no need to re-finance with all the costs associated with that. The first changes they made were borrowing now 1% over THEIR base rate of 4.99% (making it 6% instead of 2%) no reclaiming of overpayments, agreed further borrowing to be cut by 50% and then still subject to their approval for which you would be charged, no longer transferrable without approval.....the list went on.... In short it turned the best deal in town into one of the worst. Revisiting the subject now reminded me of the best part of all..........after I informed their HQ to smile nicely for the Times journalist that would paying them a visit, they offered me a "special" deal which would re-instate everything that was in my previous agreement as long as I signed a new agreement, which they enclosed with the letter. The new agreement contained a clause to the effect that they could change this agreement at any time without any notice. You can imagine where they were told to insert that. ? As I said, it was more about the principle to me, I didn't actually need the deal any more, it was just nice to have, so I just walked away from it, but many others were not in that position so you can imagine the impact on their finances. At best they were faced with paying thousands to take their business elsewhere. So, back OT....... Notes, be aware - that page may contain far more text than you realise.
  14. An out of tune noisy bugger it would seem. It's lucky for you that JB has moved on to more profitable ventures because he would almost certainly have increased his fees considerably for that.
  15. One of the advantages of still having a win 7 DAW is that I don't have to concern myself with this. ?
  16. I think everyone thinks/knows it's BS, but there's knowing it and there's being able to do something about it. I have no reason to protect the names, so if you really want to know it was Barclays Bank. They bought out Standard Bank and took over all existing accounts with the explicit promise that any existing contracts would be honoured, which btw was a condition of the takeover decreed by the High Court in granting that the takeover so that it would not be against anti-monopoly legislation. Soon after the takeover happened they wrote informing me of changes they were making to former Standard Bank accounts, which was when I informed the national press. The newspaper whose solicitor was also quoted as saying it was illegal, was The Times (UK). I wasn't the only one affected, many others came forward as a result of the newspaper article and eventually it was referred to the UK Financial Ombudsmen who found in favour of Barclays. It was more a point of principle in my case, so I wasn't going to get into spending lawyer money to pursue them, but many others would have suffered considerable financial implications as a result of the changes that were allowed to be made due to a non-existent clause. Anyhoo, that's all a bit serious for the CH, so somebody better put up something suitable for all the five year olds that apparently frequent the place on a regular basis now, or the axe will fall.
  17. Something like that. As you can probably guess, that didn't count.
  18. A few years ago I was in dispute with a major bank over whether they could unilaterally change a contract I had with them. I referred the case to a major national newspaper who actually agreed with me and printed several articles about it. Basically they had referred me to a certain paragraph/subsection of the signed agreement that simply did not exist. The case was taken up by the financial authorities who ruled that the bank's response after having it pointed out that there was no such paragraph in the contract ........."It was in the agreement, but it just wasn't printed as there wasn't enough room on the page..." was within the law !!
  19. In other related news, scientists have revealed that the libido of many women is directly and significantly reduced by certain cakes. Unfortunately for married guys, wedding cake is the one that tops the list.
  20. Why do I get the feeling that there is absolutely no need to watch that video beyond 00:01 ? This could be the start of a new trend. The 1 second song/video. No need to make the rest because you already know exactly how it goes. The question is would Greta approve of the planet-hugging energy saving of disposing of the other 3:29 or scornfully reproach them for contributing to the ruination of her childhood just by making this 1 second. The correct answer obviously being.....who cares?
  21. ? craigb takes putting on a little lockdown weight to a whole new level. (I always knew that the hair/beard colour was a bottle job.) ?
  22. Poor Bapu doesn't seem to know how question marks work. ?
  23. ^^^ This. Beyond my wildest dreams of what I thought I would ever have at my disposal when I started out and it's not the lack of "pro" status that prevents me from being a super-rich, global megastar, recording artist. That's entirely the fault of the barely talented idiot sitting in front of it.?
