If your (Windows machine) cpu doesn't support AVX2, Ableton 12 won't even open. I had that with my other computer. As for refunds, I think I'm SOL since I got it from a plugin store instead of Ableton straight. You also had to really look for the new requirement too, since it wasn't really brought up as a huge a thing in any of the pre-release communication & advertising. And you'd think that on Windows (despite Windows 11's TPM-shenanigans), a DAW would be the last thing to have a huge requirement change between versions. Sure, system resource usage always goes up and that's to be expected but a critical blocker that prevents you even from using it? Can't think of too many occasions where that's been the case with creative software. Also from a quick browse through Ableton's forums, I kinda grew a healthy dislike to a good portion of the userbase there as they were pissing on users being confused about the requirement. "You shouldn't use old hardware" or whatever the heck. It's just dumb as quite often, said old hardware is more than capable at running everything else that's current. Even then, as generations shift, most people are more than ready to accept drawbacks, but unless you're talking about the latest and greatest vidya games and GPUs... monumental requirement shifts are really rare. It never seizes to amaze me when consumers are actually happy to embrace planned obsolescence. Speaking of games. Apparently AVX2 has been a problem with some newer titles as well in the past few years. From what I gather, apparently the requirement is merely a flag that the devs tick on, as otherwise non-AVX2 supporting CPUs would use an older, slower command set instead of the AVX2 thing or whatever. Then again, I'm not a dev and the explanation seems a bit too simple to be true. But yeah. While I can live with it myself and can accept reasons for change, I'm still amazed how Ableton really didn't have flashing red lights around the new requirement. With Apple's silicon changes, things like that were kinda expected but on Windows... Windows 11 & TPM 2.0 is the only thing I can think of from the past 10-15 years (and even the TPM requirement can be skipped with know-how.)

Haven't looked into these at all so I'm just gonna go

I have a 49€ crossgrade coupon (expires in 30 days) in my account. Not sure owning which product grants it.
-
Oh you! Don't make me open Photoshop ? Anyway. noiseashdiscount10 brings it down to $26.9
-
Any coupons to knock the price down even more?

I thought so too but the email heading was "UNDER $50: The Century Strings 2.0 Bundle: Normale and Sordino". Unless they somehow forgot the 1 from everything. But at ~150 buckaroonies it's not that good of a deal since it's been often way below that.

Call me confused because this is a bit different: https://www.plugins-samples.com/shop/subscription-gifts/ I think the English version registers there and Falken is for German subs?
-
Yeah, notice that the free software pick is reserved for "Platinum Plus".

I'm itching to give them money and I wouldn't mind upgrading at that 90 price point... but I haven't really seen anything life changing being added from v1 to v2. What I'm really hoping for is that they really go all-in on their brush engine and truly start challenging some of the other programs. Clip Studio Paint is trying to force the subscription BS on their users (we'll see if v3 will be the last perpetual licence). Unfortunately, CSP has hands down the best 'feeling' when it comes down to digital illustration with a stylus.

From what I gather, it didn't go on sale often if at all. Don't quote me on that. But as far as 2023 goes, around October, it went on sale. And I think it's been on sale a few times after that (year end.) I think 199 is lowest it has been solo. Before any kind of personal vouchers on UVI or dealer at least.
-
Not that I need it since I have it, but the voucher doesn't seem to work with the sale on UVI Falcon 3.

Time to put your powerball lotto tickets in!

I'm getting this issue after the update. Got five nothing-burger instruments at the top of the list. Nice. Three dots only has 'release notes' in it and clicking that brings up nothing ("No release notes available for this product.")

Now that's a deal! Too bad I paid $27 last year ???

Yeah, Google is quite terrible. I usually try "+Reddit" as well in search, but I think that is getting useless with each passing day too. Then there's the problem & shame that Discord/social media also killed a lot of theme specific forums (Discord is useless for trying to see previous discussion and those Facebook groups are dead & gone now too.)
