  1. I tried, but I can't quickly think of a single instance where things got a lot better for the consumer after a new party had to recoup its new investment costs.
  2. Yeah. No need to even look what's up if it's not at least 50%
  3. You're absolutely right in questioning it. I think it's merely the perception of value. Had the upgrade prices (be it with a discount or not) been some euros cheaper, I wouldn't have said a thing or mentioned about it seeming to be a great deal. But the initial price point of entry to Collection 9 was so low (granted, during a sale) that the upgrade prices appear steep in comparison. Basically my f-ed up math is: Starting with 9, price was ~4.5 per plugin. With the discount from already buying an instrument, the price for upgrade is 15-19,8 per new plugin. Or 28-39,8 if you go straight from 9 to X. (The range depends if you count the updated instruments as 'new' or not, and excluding presets/soundbanks from the equation as I value those things a lot less). This forum has broken me.
  4. 99 upgrade here from Collection 9, despite (stupidly?) having bought Acid V separately on release and thinking it would lower the upgrade price a decent amount. Guess not. If the default is 199 from 9 to X, then that simply seems a bit steep.
  5. You know what. I'm fine with this. After the $20 off anything coupons stopped coming a year ago, I do consider that when prices go below 20 bucks (say $15-19), it can be considered a deal somewhat. Especially for the latest plugins (and maybe less of a good deal for the oldest plugins).
  6. Phew. Luckily I spent it on a thing that wasn't 60% off. Although, I must say that UVI customer support has been amazing for me when they allowed me to not feel left out once.
  7. What's the activation procedure? Wasn't able to find anything on Martinic's site with a quick glance.
  8. New in Version 1.0.8 : Added vst3 support
  9. I haven't had any experiences with EDU prices in yeeears, but it would seem logical since EDU pricing basically lowers the base price (ie. it's not "on sale" per se but made more accessible with cheaper pricing to those that pass the requirement.)
  10. False advertising. It's not "Everything $5" when you've got items that are more than $5.
  11. I don't think those vouchers would have worked hand in hand with other deals anyway. At least it didn't when I tried to activate it on the few already on sale items in the store. Come to think of it, only the fixed price coupons (instead of percentage off) have worked with other sales for me.
  12. It's okay. I've used APD plenty, but when you look at the deals from the past month or so, the prices have been insane and hardly "deals". Most of the repeat items have been a lot cheaper in the past.
  13. This was $19.99 last fall on KVR. Probably many other places too where coupons also worked. I think I paid $17 or something. APD has been really strange as of late with its prices. Not really deals at all.
  14. Wish one could still combine vouchers. I still have a few of those Native PA 29.99 vouchers left that I could use right about now.

    Trash is back

This is on my list. I almost pulled the trigger last holiday season. Maybe next time.
  16. If your (Windows machine) cpu doesn't support AVX2, Ableton 12 won't even open. I had that with my other computer. As for refunds, I think I'm SOL since I got it from a plugin store instead of Ableton straight. You also had to really look for the new requirement too, since it wasn't really brought up as a huge a thing in any of the pre-release communication & advertising. And you'd think that on Windows (despite Windows 11's TPM-shenanigans), a DAW would be the last thing to have a huge requirement change between versions. Sure, system resource usage always goes up and that's to be expected but a critical blocker that prevents you even from using it? Can't think of too many occasions where that's been the case with creative software. Also from a quick browse through Ableton's forums, I kinda grew a healthy dislike to a good portion of the userbase there as they were pissing on users being confused about the requirement. "You shouldn't use old hardware" or whatever the heck. It's just dumb as quite often, said old hardware is more than capable at running everything else that's current. Even then, as generations shift, most people are more than ready to accept drawbacks, but unless you're talking about the latest and greatest vidya games and GPUs... monumental requirement shifts are really rare. It never seizes to amaze me when consumers are actually happy to embrace planned obsolescence. Speaking of games. Apparently AVX2 has been a problem with some newer titles as well in the past few years. From what I gather, apparently the requirement is merely a flag that the devs tick on, as otherwise non-AVX2 supporting CPUs would use an older, slower command set instead of the AVX2 thing or whatever. Then again, I'm not a dev and the explanation seems a bit too simple to be true. But yeah. While I can live with it myself and can accept reasons for change, I'm still amazed how Ableton really didn't have flashing red lights around the new requirement. With Apple's silicon changes, things like that were kinda expected but on Windows... Windows 11 & TPM 2.0 is the only thing I can think of from the past 10-15 years (and even the TPM requirement can be skipped with know-how.)
  17. Haven't looked into these at all so I'm just gonna go
  18. I have a 49€ crossgrade coupon (expires in 30 days) in my account. Not sure owning which product grants it.
