I said talk me out of it, not murder me!

So I'm interested in either: Ethera Gold 2.5 or Ethera Gold Prometheus. Talk me out of it.

I think I might have to skip since I hopped on the Cubase train like some others on this forum. Choo choo. (Plus I never kinda clicked with Waveform)

Looks like you can get Neold plugins for 9.99 and that's about it. Doesn't work with Neold plugins. Nice voucher in theory, worth nothing in the end. edit2: bx_subsynth is the only $9.99 plugin with this.

PSP Audioware Piano Day Sale (Exclusive) Pianoverb 2 for $29

Wasn't this $19 a week ago? -
They should have enough time to add a handful of the most often asked features for Kontakt 8 then?
-
Party pooper.

They're running out of available version numbers before 8.0

I wouldn't have minded a price increase with Affinity if the software saw substantial improvements, but difference between v1 and v2 didn't seem to bring anything monumental. Or if it did, they've done a really **** job advertising it. That's why I've yet to upgrade despite buying v1 software instantly (both PC/ipad) they got released.
-
Do note that if you upgrade to v3, you'll lose v1 licence and can't use it anymore. At least v2 destroyed my old licence, which sucked.
-
I understood that if you buy v3 (or v2), you can use that forever. But if you don't pay for the update plan, you won't get any of the extra 3.x patches. If you pay for the update plan, you'll get version updates (so 3.3 etc). If you stop the update plan, then you'll revert back to base v3. I personally wouldn't mind paying for the update plan if it meant that you'd get to keep the updates but it's absurd you don't. It's a shame though. I've used Clip professionally for a long time and the brush engine is still my favorite with a pen display. While I'm on v2, even v1 works really well for what I do so it's not the end of the world as those work. With v1 you were able to use the program on two computers easily, but with v2 it became a pain in the ***** even though the licence allows it. That's why I'm not that eager to go v3 since its licence agreement hasn't been put out yet (from what I gather) and I'm afraid they'll dick customers around even more.

Come to think of it. Clip Studio Paint got better with updates etc. once they dropped Smithmicro and the Manga Studio branding. That bliss ended a bit more than a year ago as they're now pushing subs. Granted, they also sell a perpetual licence but one which doesn't see any upgrades if you don't pay a monthly 'update plan' fee.

Save 30% on Cubase and get premium partner products at no cost!
Kirean replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
You were supposed to be one of the more reasonable ones on this forum and not the one pushing pedal to the metal. -
I tried, but I can't quickly think of a single instance where things got a lot better for the consumer after a new party had to recoup its new investment costs.

Is 30% the most they'll discount it all year? -
Yeah. No need to even look what's up if it's not at least 50%
-
No toms? Ngggh. I'll have to think about it.

You're absolutely right in questioning it. I think it's merely the perception of value. Had the upgrade prices (be it with a discount or not) been some euros cheaper, I wouldn't have said a thing or mentioned about it seeming to be a great deal. But the initial price point of entry to Collection 9 was so low (granted, during a sale) that the upgrade prices appear steep in comparison. Basically my f-ed up math is: Starting with 9, price was ~4.5 per plugin. With the discount from already buying an instrument, the price for upgrade is 15-19,8 per new plugin. Or 28-39,8 if you go straight from 9 to X. (The range depends if you count the updated instruments as 'new' or not, and excluding presets/soundbanks from the equation as I value those things a lot less). This forum has broken me.

How's Drum Designer btw?

How did they know my password?

99 upgrade here from Collection 9, despite (stupidly?) having bought Acid V separately on release and thinking it would lower the upgrade price a decent amount. Guess not. If the default is 199 from 9 to X, then that simply seems a bit steep.
-
You know what. I'm fine with this. After the $20 off anything coupons stopped coming a year ago, I do consider that when prices go below 20 bucks (say $15-19), it can be considered a deal somewhat. Especially for the latest plugins (and maybe less of a good deal for the oldest plugins).

Phew. Luckily I spent it on a thing that wasn't 60% off. Although, I must say that UVI customer support has been amazing for me when they allowed me to not feel left out once.

What's the activation procedure? Wasn't able to find anything on Martinic's site with a quick glance.
