  1. I hated to start a thread for this simple(& prob dumb) question but maybe someone else might have the same question. Anyway, I've already started editing my CbB projects in free Sonar and I've been saving them to the same "Cakewalk Projects" file I was using for CbB. I just wanna make sure this doesn't present any potential problems. Since CbB will be discontinued, I don't see a need to keep things seperate anyway. I'd rather just keep doing what I've been doing. Thanks
  2. Oh no John! You're stuck in this DAW hell with us. FWIW, You can sign out any time you like... but you can NEVER leave 🤪
  3. Cheers Wolf. Here's a pic...
  4. Cheers Mike. Man, that's a beautiful bass. Glad it didn't get too damaged, I know those basses are far from cheap.
  5. Btw Mettelus, Fender Custom Shop did a small run of pine Strats a few years back. It was reclaimed pine from an old barn.
  6. Cheers Mettelus. Yeah, I had been playing basswood guitars for a couple decades before I tried pine. I'm sure u know basswood is pretty soft too. I figured pine would be fine with a relic job since dings only add to the character. I've been thru the tonewood debates back in the day but IMO, if you have a good touch, good pickups(they don't have to be expensive) and a good amp, you can get a great tone. And if I am sacrificing a little bit of tone, it's worth it for me to have a light & balanced guitar. Even when I'm sitting down, I want it to be light & balanced. Btw, my best friend has a 14 lb Les Paul Standard! It sounds awesome but he has to practically beg me to play it 😄
  7. Cheers Treesha. The piano, being midi, is in perfect tune on the piano track. However, when u pitch correct a vocal that is slightly flat, for example, you're then causing the bled over piano on the vocal track to go slightly sharp. But ironically, I think it may add a little life to the track in those places. I think it creats a very, very subtle chorusing effect in those areas. Again, the overall mix sounds great.
  8. Yeah, the tilted headstocks are a recipe for disaster. Gibson should have designed EVERY guitar with a volute (extra wood where the headstock meets the neck) to help prevent some of thise broken off headstocks. Talk about an Achilles heal
  9. The Turtles, Happy Together
  10. Trampled By Turtles, Victory (Warning- Video may cause convulsions 😖)
  11. Megadeth, Peace Sells (Warning- Video may induce seizure 😵‍💫)
  12. Speaking of lightweight Strats... This is an aftermarket strat body made out of white pine that I still have. It's feather light but very resonant. The rear pickup is a Lace sensor hot gold that screams. Anyway, this is one of the many partscasters I put together over the years
  13. Lesson... No more Temu wall hangers 😁 Nah, I'm a Strat man myself Rain. I love lightweight Strats with a humbucker in the bridge, a soft V neck, 22 frets(like ur dear Marian), a contoured heal and I block the bridge for added sustain and a fatter tone. The body contours of a Strat combined with the long scale length make it SUPER comfortable. It fits around ny body like a long legged woman. Most of my fave players growing up played Les Pauls(Frampton, Page, Slash, Frehley, Zakk Wylde, etc) but I never liked the short scale length or how out of balance they are. I have a lightweight Les Paul copy with great pickups that I sometimes use for recording but I'm a Strat man thru & thru. 👍
  14. Extreme, Rest in Peace
  15. Megadeth, Rust in Peace... Polaris
  16. I normally use headphones for recording my vocals (of course) but I really hate using them. I recently recorded one of my songs that's just midi piano and vocal and I decided to ditch the headphones. First I recorded the piano track and then I played it back at fairly low volume thru my monitors and recorded the vocal track. I have a 57 dynamic mic but I decided to just try my condenser mic and see how it turned out. Of course it was okay but the real question was gonna be, "could I still apply a little Melodyne to the vocal without it causing noticable wonkyiness in the final mix?" The result... When the vocal is soloed, u can hear the bled over piano go out of tune in the parts wear I applied Melodyne. However, when the piano track is added in, it sounds perfect. Those little pitch anomalies are undetectable and there's no noticeable freq cancelations either. It sounds beautiful and radio ready. I was just curious what others here think of this. I did ask Google since it's the authority on everything 😉 and it said... "Positive perspective: If the final product sounds good to you, and the pitch correction doesn't introduce unwanted artifacts or detract from the performance, then it's perfectly fine." I'm a recovering perfectionist so I encourage myself to fight against my perfectionism. Also, I follow the Eddie Van Halen theory that if it sounds good, it IS good. I think it's mainly about the quality of the song anyway so I'm rolling with it. But I'm just curious what u guys think about this. Is it just the overall final sound that matters or should I be excommunicated for breaking a home recording cardinal rule? 🤣
  17. Fair enough. But if the 3D realistic look is dated then color me dated. I love looking at true to life type mixing board & effects controls. The 2D looks cheaped down and artificial to me. Of course, my opinion doesn't matter anyway. I'm just whining Krupa. Can't a grown man whine anymore?! 😫
  18. I don't understand how the developers went backwards and made things HARDER to see. Surely they noticed their new UI was making things smaller. I don't understand decisions like that. It seems to me like they just HAD to change the look of the UI in order to call it by a new name and charge money for it. I myself am still on CbB with NO problems at all. Everything works perfectly with no bugs, a great looking 3 dimensional UI and everyhing is big enough to see. I'd happily pay $300 for my current CbB and they can take new Sonar and shove it 😄
  19. Promidi, is this an assumption or do u know this for sure?
  20. OMG, that's freaking hilarious! It's like an endless guessing game here 😆 It makes sense though since it is titled as an "evaluation" 😂
