Plus scripting interfaces for several languages, third party stuff other than themes, stability and the great videos to get you started. All included, thus cheap as hell for a beginner just starting out. I got it in 2017. 60 bucks until now. Not a bad deal. But I went to Studio One for my main mixing work for exactly the reasons listed above.

Development is at pre-release 2 now. Changelogs and downloads can be found on the Reaper beta distribution site which is publicly available. I have removed the link to this site as the Cockos folks obviously do not want any links pointing there. (See Bapu's post below.) Strange requirement for a public download location, but as I'm a nice guy, I am playing the game as they want me to.

Nothing special, just a big selection of good samples and other things. I tend to define large standard packages I reach for first when certain tasks are on the agenda, and this one is a candidate for becoming one. But that's just me.

Hell, I also bought it for the crazy high price of 23. I think for a little more than a tenner, this can be called a no brainer. Wow!

Mike White also has paid courses, frequently on sale. https://www.mixingwithmike.com/store I have a few of them, never regretted spending some money. Mike is very thorough, lots of attention to detail. And he is going deep and deeper, always listening to the results, commenting, tweaking... Mixing looks like the hard work it is. This helped me a lot for the price of burger and beer. As for YouTube stuff: I am using Studio One for everyday work and love the stuff by Joe Gilder. Just in case you don't know him. Cannot hurt to check, it's free.

Avoid this and invest in something like Mixing with Mike instead. These are very short videos mainly telling you that computers are more powerful than analogue studios... and portable. That good microphone, good preamps, good tape can result in a good recording ... That learning mixing over the years is a walk in the park. Three hours of that mixture of common sense and motivational speech. My advice: Better get drunk for the money. Less headache the day after.
