At Last ! R.I.P. D.J.T
-
Thanks to @garybrun we now have much bigger and cleaner mix. Changed the intro to ease into the song a little softer . I liked the last 2 mixes but they were dull and subdued compared to this one. I think Gary painted a very nice picture here , I guess that's why they say don't master your own songs .. Further comments or suggestions are welcomed. Thanks ... mark

Was the last group of songs you posted released as an album for sale ? Do all of us get a free one If not where can we find it . mark

That intro sucked something out of my brain that I might need later .. Great song and no need to get specific about the world going down .. I'm glad you're posting again , I've missed your songs. mark

Very nice and smooth. I actually liked the sound of the subdued drums. If I were mixing this , I would move the change coming in around 1:38 back instead of repeating the phrase before it. Loved the acoustic tone. Terrific playing .. mark

"Thank You" to everyone. I went back to the mix and fixed a couple of spots that were bothering me and added a whisper track to the backing vocals. With the exception of Raum reverb , I used all stock CbB plugins on the electric guitar tracks. I will post my signal path and exact settings in another reply if anyone wants to create a #wicked fx chain preset . I'm going to do it myself asap. @noynekker You won't even have to stand in line .. Anyone wanting to get "real picky" on this one , I'm ready to get "real picky" on the mix and master .. mark

I finished up a Chris Isaak song this morning , or at least I've gotten it to the point of getting some suggestions before I pull it off of SC. Weapons - Godin nylon acoustic , G&L asat electric , TTS brush kit , Ample P bass , azr3 synth. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks https://soundcloud.com/user-810058643/with-you

Very interesting , I was wondering where you've been lately. Now I see .. Those were some convincing guitar parts . Enjoyed it. (always been a colored pot fan) mark

Very nice.. That was a great progression and guitar capture. I thought Right when the drums started dropping out at the ending everything sounded clearer and a little more balanced , like the drums and percussion could be lowered a little. I also "really" liked the fret squeaks . They seemed to give your playing more of an intimate feel , like I was in the room . (although I thought they could be tamed a little). Great song , nice tuning . Relaxing .. Thanks mark

Can you add a "bypass all fx" button without adding the entire mix module in the toolbars section , or can the single button be moved to an existing module ?

Freddy , Very creative ! loved the busy vocal parts. I Really enjoyed this ... mark

Another Killer song ! This is going to be a Great album . The ones you've been posting all sound like they're part of a complete project. Are you using the same people on all of these songs ? Enjoyed it .. mark

Jack , If you go to your Sound Cloud page , Click the pencil "edit" button under your song , then "permissions" you can enable the feature for someone to be able to download the song in the original format after you save your change. You can change it back at any time. This would be real handy for anyone willing to help with a stereo mix or evaluate it better using daw tools . mark

Cool song ! I'm really getting a David Bowe/Talking heads vibe out of it. Clean it up and re EQ the vocals. You are still introducing distortion somehow .. What kind of file are you uploading to Soundcloud ? If it is a mp3 they are still going to reprocess it. If it is a wav , make sure your volume and peaks aren't hitting 0 . If they are , they can cause clipping and distortion when They process and convert it to mp3. Best to upload a 16 or 24 bit wav file with No volumes louder than -1. db. Get the free Youlean loudness meter and check it from the start to the very end of the song before you upload it. A good target is -14 lufs at the end , with no clipping. Good luck .. mark

I looked up and researched Eric Herje , hard to believe he's not an international singing star. Is he close to you in Norway ? ms

Gary , I liked the less verb mix better. I don't think my laptop Ever sounded this good ! Great job. I honestly don't see how it could be improved. mark

Also , If you clip and distort a track "while recording it" , it will always distort.

Jack , set your instrument bus fader to 0 , turn down "each" track feeding that bus until that bus volume is well below 0db. like -6 or -8 to start with. Do this for each bus or any track going straight to master. When all of these sounds are balanced the way you like , your Master bus should be below 0. If your master is clipping turn down your track busses. When I'm done mixing a song my Master bus is around -6 to -8 leaving enough room for mastering.

"Very" good song and worthy of Any amount of time it will take to fix it. I'm not listening on a stellar system but I'm hearing a good bit of distortion , like some track levels are just too high. Some of the instruments are also crowding the vocals. I hope to hear a remix of this ... mark

Guitar part switching to mono
mark skinner replied to Richard Schweitzer's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
If the L/R sections are the same (in the 8 bar problem area) , they will combine in the Center. Try some different processing on them like in the other sections that are retaining the panning. ms -
That was soo nice and well mixed. I could feel just about every note played. Nice bite on the guitar and some of the best playing I've heard in a long , long time . Fantastic and moving .. mark

Hello , the link now reflects a remix per everyone's suggestions. I think it is a lot better. I can always do further work if it's needed. "Thank You" to everyone for listening and commenting. I'll probably do a couple more covers before getting back to writing. Thanks .. mark

I got on your youtube channel and checked your other songs out , and I am Confused .. Are you a left handed or right handed guitarist. I thought it "must" be something to do with the videos. I've never seen anyone play both ways .. Thanks mark
