  1. David , Fantastic guitar work. I don't think I've ever heard an album done like this. Out of curiosity what did you use for backing while recording ? Surely you didn't keep up the energy and flow using a metronome .. Enjoyed it .. mark
  2. @PhonoBrainer , Thank You for commenting and your inspiring compliment. Her vocal delay was "Timeless" from Fab Filter. I haven't really gotten the full grasp of this plugin , I'm just adjusting some amazing presets. SubVibe is a male keys player and producer from Holland that mainly does chill-out style using female vocals. There is another Subvibe well known and followed on SoundCloud. I put the "Netherlands" in his description trying to get the two a little less confusing. @Lee Neitzel I really appreciate your time and comments. I'll be the first to admit that I know Nothing about mixing this genre of music. I trusted my ears and tried to make a conversion from my normal sounding songs. Thanks'. @KSband I actually "enjoyed" doing the solo. I deleted several sessions where I was doing the same leads I always do. I tried for something a little different in a jazzier style. I think we're done with this one , and if there are any further changes it wont be bumped up . It will be up on the streaming platforms in a few days. Thank you all .. mark
  3. Lee , Very Enjoyable listen. I feel like I went on vacation. I thought you did a Superb job on the Entire production. mark
  4. OK , I've done a pretty "substantial" remix . @Larry T. and @Bajan Blue It now has a 12 bar middle section break with some added guitar fills afterwards. I knew it needed one but I wouldn't have gone through the cutting , copy/paste session without your comments. I also did quite a bit of work getting it closer to a SubVibe feel. Thanks .. mark
  5. Great moving song. Loved the constant Groove. I Really enjoyed the different parts entering and exiting. Fantastic job on this. mark
  6. Closed my eyes and drifted away .. Thank You .. mark
  7. Very Nice. I Love the clean tone on your guitar and especially your reverb choice for this. It envelops you and was just right to me . It sounded Especially good just using a single guitar. Nice .. I remember spending three months reproducing one of your "off the cuff" noodling blues tunes. I learned a lot from you on that project and had a 5 gig audio folder to clean up after All the overdubs. Your talent is very inspiring. Loved it .. mark
  8. @Larry T. and @KSband , Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I've done a mild remix with the vox slightly boosted on the first verse . I also made some adjustments on the kick EQ trying to tame it a little. Couple of small adjustments for my own satisfaction as well. The re-mix is on the Sound Click link. SoundCloud is still the 1st mix. @Rikkie Thank you for the listen and comment. @noynekker Thank You for the Great comments. I never feel as if one is coming along well until you weigh in. @Bajan Blue Thank You for your time and comments. When I'm sure I've gotten the present version as good as I can , I'll do a "save as" and see about a short break or change up . Thank You mark
  9. Thanks @Larry T. I'll look at the vox volume in the morning. I too felt like it needed a middle break but we were already pushing the 5 min mark. Maybe a shorter intro ?? I really stretched the chimes out in the section you mentioned. I think some further drum hit's would also help bringing that section back in. I Really appreciate your listening and commenting. mark
  10. Hello , here is a song collab with SubVibe. I knew that with our completely different styles "something" would happen. He took an 8 bar guitar section I sent , and took it in a direction that I would Never have come up with. I covered the guitars , Bass , cello and male vocal. Everything else was from SubVibe. This has taken us awhile to complete with a lot of re-recording as we wrote. I hope you enjoy this as much as I have. This collaboration has been Real pleasure and learning experience for me. Of course we are looking for any mix/master suggestions for improvement. Thank You .. mark -Remix- both links https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14630931
  11. Very Clean .. This was the first time hearing a sax thru a Wah ! Very cool and I loved the under and overtones. The midi guitar was also excellent. I think you did a wonderful job of capturing a Steely Dan vibe , intentional or not. Loved it .. mark

    The Song

Great to hear from you Gary ! Sounds like you've been Real busy and your effort really shows on this one. I couldn't believe the incredible harmonies in this song. Very talented artists and especially not singing in their native language. I thought is was also impressive how you made the piezo guitar work well in the mix. I did seem to miss a little low end in the first half of the song , but seemed to come more forward as it progressed ?? Anyway , I loved it . Fantastic job from everyone .. mark

    Song For Ruth

Great job on a Very touching and sweet song. For sure this one had a purpose.. Loved it .. ms
  14. Fec , Very Cool song and mix. I thought the intro guitar was very Gilmour-ish as well. Nice playing .. I think I would paste in some fading vocals at the outro. It felt a little anti climatic ?? Still a Very Tasty production .. mark

    HURRICANE

Loved the production Bruce. I especially liked the guitars. It seems your lengthy treatment on them was Well worth the effort. I Really enjoyed the timing of the different parts playing against each other. As Always , highly impressive lead vocals and your choice of harmonies. Great song , the chorus was Real nice .. Enjoyed it .. mark
  16. This could Easily be a new genre for you. Fantastic job ! The vocals were very convincing and heart felt. But for me , the main vox felt a little confined. I think it could be a little wetter and pushed more to the front. Not sure about the Barry White type narration. I'd try replacing it with some more scat , ooh aah stuff. You mean everything in the world to me ..(you do). Hope you don't think I'm getting too picky. I Loved the song mark
  17. Tom , All I can say is this was a "Brilliant" example of writing and performance. Loved it .. mark
  18. As Treesha said "Very unexpected changes". There are Lots of cool and experimental sections. I Really liked your high vocal section. Enjoyed it jack .. mark
  19. Beautiful mix , I loved the dreamy electric guitar section and the breakdowns with the abstract vocals. Very Smoooth. mark

Maybe after the kick EQ work and pulling it back a little , what I "think" I'm hearing wont be noticeable. For what it's worth , with some close up careful editing , printed tracks can always be altered. Especially drums with distinct transients. I'll listen a few more times .. mark

Love all the instrumentation , Great playing ! The mix sounds pretty Well balanced . What did stick out to me needing some adjustments was the kick. There are some spots where it's "not quite right" timing wise. Very close but at times it's shutting down the groove and feel of the song . It then quickly regains it , but the damage is done. I think it's more noticeable with the kick so far out front. If I had a suggestion it would be to find the troublesome spots , deepen the kick and pull it back a little. All in all , a Fantastic instrumental. Really enjoyed it .. mark

    Far Cry

Tressha , Oh Boy , I get to go first ! I'm Really liking the feel of this and Love the song artwork. I believe I would boost the kick and bass a "lot" harder. As you are a bass player , I'm surprised you don't normally punch it and bring it forward too often. I Really enjoyed it .. mark
  24. Rik , Liked it. I've always had an appreciation of Ovations and their playability. I had one for a while and learned how to keep it from sliding out of my lap. I once did a an acoustic rebuild , and I couldn't believe how much "blue painters tape" I used before I finished it. I sent a case of it to a friend and pro luthier last Christmas. Enjoyed it .. mark
