As Treesha said "Very unexpected changes". There are Lots of cool and experimental sections. I Really liked your high vocal section. Enjoyed it jack .. mark

Beautiful mix , I loved the dreamy electric guitar section and the breakdowns with the abstract vocals. Very Smoooth. mark

Perfect ! Killer guitar work .. Loved it mark

Maybe after the kick EQ work and pulling it back a little , what I "think" I'm hearing wont be noticeable. For what it's worth , with some close up careful editing , printed tracks can always be altered. Especially drums with distinct transients. I'll listen a few more times .. mark

Love all the instrumentation , Great playing ! The mix sounds pretty Well balanced . What did stick out to me needing some adjustments was the kick. There are some spots where it's "not quite right" timing wise. Very close but at times it's shutting down the groove and feel of the song . It then quickly regains it , but the damage is done. I think it's more noticeable with the kick so far out front. If I had a suggestion it would be to find the troublesome spots , deepen the kick and pull it back a little. All in all , a Fantastic instrumental. Really enjoyed it .. mark

Tressha , Oh Boy , I get to go first ! I'm Really liking the feel of this and Love the song artwork. I believe I would boost the kick and bass a "lot" harder. As you are a bass player , I'm surprised you don't normally punch it and bring it forward too often. I Really enjoyed it .. mark

Rik , Liked it. I've always had an appreciation of Ovations and their playability. I had one for a while and learned how to keep it from sliding out of my lap. I once did a an acoustic rebuild , and I couldn't believe how much "blue painters tape" I used before I finished it. I sent a case of it to a friend and pro luthier last Christmas. Enjoyed it .. mark

Difference in sample rate ??

Amazing ! I loved the drive in the drums and bass track. The vocals were for sure Superb and a lot of Tasty guitar work. This is one I jacked the volume way up ! Enjoyed it .. mark

Great Job on this ! I Really like the brushes and the relaxed way you sang it. The banjo was Real nice and I like the way you brought some in on the left side for the lead fills. Banjo is sure an under appreciated instrument . Enjoyed it mark

@Bajan Blue Thank You. I Always appreciate you listening and your comments. I think your production and video skills are Amazing ! I Really appreciate you taking time to respond. Rik , that was probably the coolest response I've ever gotten . I've been looking forward to some more great playing from you .. Thanks. @Lynn Wilson Thanks Lynn . Staying as close to the original as I could , I still don't think I captured the sliding between the chords like on the original. (and that was one of the coolest parts of the song). Did what I could and very glad you liked it. @FreeEarCandy Thank You , and "thanks" for the SC like. I'm running out of room on SoundCloud with my free account and have been using SClick until I'm satisfied with a mix. Much easier to replace the wav without redoing everything. Thank You .. mark

Really Nice mix. I Really like the guitar that comes in early in the song. Would love to hear more of it in the quiet breakdowns in the song. Fantastic job ! Enjoyed it .. mark

Amazingly well written. Your vocal range is very impressive as well. I loved the photos , and for sure will check out your album. This is a song that paints a picture that makes you think about things. Enjoyed it .. mark

@noynekker , Hello, Bruce . Nice to hear from you , It's been a while.. Thanks' for the listen and the comments. Yeah , I think I got some decent separation between the main L/R guitar tracks. Big condenser on the left and SM57 on the right. I didn't have to do much EQ work or real wide panning. One thing that helped was the new Pro R reverb on them and the vocals. (thanks' to a recommendation by @subvibe ) I went to the problematic "HEY" and worked on it. Sounds much better now (I think). Thank You for that ! I did some further automation on the lead vocals and the changes now are reflected in the remix. @subvibe Thank You ! Any positive feedback from you is Very impressive to me . Your amazing production skills are top notch and I hope to learn a lot from you. @jack c. Thank You Jack ! I Always enjoy your work and the different directions you take on the backing tracks. Very Creative ! Anything sticking out on this mix that needs addressed , I'll try and do my best to resolve it .. Thank You .. mark

Thanks' Ross . I Really appreciate the listen and comment. That was pretty quick.. After editing the post , I hadn't gotten thru my first listen to make sure the upload and link were working properly before you responded. I hope this is a good sign .. mark

Hello , I'm in between songs and decided to cover this one. I've always appreciated it because of the acoustic guitar tracks. I tried to keep it close to the original as much as I am capable of. I did add a mandolin to the break and dropped the key a half step. Easier to sing but mainly , I kept breaking strings with another Jonny Rzeznik strange tuning. Any crits or comments for improvement will be Greatly appreciated . Thanks .. mark https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14611426

Rex , Wonderful job on the vocals ! I'm always amazed by how many love songs you can produce with all of them sounding unique. Totally agree with subvibe on the nice clear mix and warmth of the vocals. Enjoyed it mark

Introducing Cakewalk Next and our new brand identity
mark skinner replied to Jesse Jost's topic in News & Announcements
Not worried at all .. I've enjoyed years of using a free DAW thanks to Meng , and support from the Bakers and everyone on this forum ! I guess in the future we'll have to ask "do you mean CbB , Cakewalk Next , or Cakewalk Sonar ?? ms -
Jerry , A quick and dirty way to check out a "major" bpm change should be tried first before changing everything. (1) I'd mute the vox tracks and export everything else. (2) Open a new temporary project at 100 bpm. (3) Import your mix without the vox and put a marker at the Very end of the song. (4) change your bpm to whatever you want to try. Now your track end will be well away from your marker. (5) Now right click "edit" and choose the stretch tool . L/click/hold and drag the end of your clip back to the marker. When it makes you cringe , repeat with smaller bpm changes until you're happy. I've done this a few times before committing myself and really making a mess of a project. You may find that only a few bpm can work wonders.. Good Luck .. mark

Rex , Very Nice and believable presentation. You really excelled vocally (especially tone wise) on this. I really enjoyed the harmonica and it was the right instrument for this song. Great job to the player. I'm going to assume it was you . Enjoyed it .. mark

Killer ! There are some Really cool sounds here. When I'm done working on my present project , I'm going to learn that bass line and use it for exercise on my bass guitars. Enjoyed it .. mark

Nice one .. Your singers range is incredible. I Really liked the dreamy sliding background guitar stuff. The acoustic leading up to the horn section around 1:17 was perfect. It would be nice to hear more of that type of groove maybe just in an instrumental. I enjoyed the song and mix and enjoyed a little different take on your normal chilly Sub Vibe. Thanks for posting this.. mark

Very Nice playing. I very much prefer the rendering on the new mix. Old mix was impressive as well but it did seem a little muffled and maybe a couple of bpm on the fast side. I thought it was interesting watching your gaze go from the left to the right hand while playing. I'm a one handed player and it seems I'm going to stay that way. I Really enjoyed this .. mark

My pit bull "Sukie" joins me every morning at 4:30 am in my studio. I got used to working early in the mornings before I went to work and was still fresh. Now retired but on the same schedule.. I rarely have to edit her out , she seems to be content on her blanket. I didn't notice the bark first time thru and went back for another listen . Cool .. Enjoyed it again .. mark
