OK , several remixes have been uploaded and taken down. I think I've now gotten the bottom end where I Like it. Thanks to @KSband @hsmusic and @corey sparks for your insights. I've done a good bit of editing on the drum tracks , and a lot of volume automation on Vox and bass. The pause before the tempo change was a Real pain to get the tracks cut and moved properly , but was Well worth the effort. I think it sounds much better now. Thanks to everyone convincing me to change that ! @John Vere The SI drums were the "groovin" kit . I did have to do a little tuning on them . They sound fairly dry , but do have 25% of the kit reverb and "fast and clean" from the prochannel Rematrix Solo. @Paul Bush I Bloody Loved your comment .. That made my day. The link(s) now reflect the last remix per your suggestions. I'm going to let this one rest for a little bit. Thank You .. mark

@jack c. Thanks for the comment , I Really appreciate it. @Bajan Blue Thanks for the listen and comment , the tempo change thing really surprised me . That's why it's so good to get different opinions. Both links now reflect a Remix. I addressed the volume on both vox tracks and fixed the reverb problem on the harmony track. Bass guitar volume is up with a little more clarity . I also added some low saturation on it. Spent a good bit of time on the "snare" I don't know how much improvement I got.. I also put in some "seagull" sounds in a couple of spots. I tried not to let it get too "cheezy". I did a "save as" and will try to improve the tempo change part in the morning. Thanks for the help and suggestions given so far. I can use all the help I can get .. mark

Smoooth , I really liked the panning on your fretless after the 1:43 mark. Perfect drums . Were they EZ drummer? Did you use an epiano or was that your nylon strung guitar. Enjoyed it .. mark

@noynekker Thanks for the listens ! Yeah it's the exact same mix on Sound cloud and click. I wish someone with the tools could do a good compairison. Sometimes I think it's more than their streaming bit rates. I've started a remix and did some further volume automation on the lead vox. The first part was for sure lower. I also brought the harmony track up a little. I also found the pro channel Breverb was accidently left on . Good catch. @corey sparks I couldn't find a drum loop I liked , and did this with SI drums in piano roll. The snare has been troublesome and have used several kits. On an interesting note , lowering some of the snare hits seemed to make them sound worse instead of quieter. Seemed to bring up the honk and hollow tones and lose the crack. There's a real big difference at 99 and below velocity compared to 100. Some of the hits I wanted quieter were in the low 90's. Raising them to 102 cut some of the lows and brought back the crack. I've noticed this before in other projects about the 99 velocity setting. I was then able to just turn down the synth and retain the EQ. Thanks for the reply .. @KSband Yes there's a bass. I'll look at it closer in the remix. Never thought about a pause before the tempo change. I'll play with that. Thanks for the listen and reply .. mark

Hello , Here's an acoustic song I wrote quite awhile back . It's about living on my boat on the Tennessee river and compairing it to the gulf. I never took the time to record it , but I've played it a good bit at solo gigs. I'm in the final mix /master stage and think it's getting close , but I always want fresh ears on a song for suggestions. Thank You for listening .. mark Final mix .. https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14682410

I'm on the latest 2023 update. When I did the update a few weeks ago my custom workspace settings got lost. I had to do a custom one (before the last update) to get my console view to load up. I just opened another project , I now have to use the alt/left click to do a split on any track (as it should be) Still can't get my console view up unless I use the "mix" in workspaces. Something suddeny changed. I'll look further and start a new thread if I can't get it. Sorry Charles , didn't mean to hijack this thread , I hope your problem got solved.. mark

I have No idea . I have been doing it that way for years.. After about an hour of splitting clips this morning .. it suddenly Stopped working ! I had just gone thru a workspace issue where I couldn't bring up the console view , and it Was on a bounced melodyned clip. So , one or more of these probably had something to do with the split behavior changing. I had to revert to the edit split tool . I'll try to sort it out later today and will try the alt/left click and a different project. Responding to this thread may have just Jinxed me.. ms

Charles , I just put the curser where I want to split. With the smart tool engaged , I just hover over the top half of the clip on the curser. The pointer changes its icon and I just left click. Don't have to right click and choose an option.

You seem to be the "master" of achieving the best cleaner tones from the different guitars you play. I like your crunch stuff , but am super impressed with the cleaner ones you post here. Out of your past 3 albums which do you think is the cleanest. Thanks .. mark -
This is a Very interesting arrangement. Fantastic guitar work , this worked Very Nicely for me. Enjoyed it .. mark

Will , I'll probably Never use the procedure as intended from this video. What I have taken from it .. is seeing you use the Saturation knob to bring out the sub frequencys in a sample. It just worked Wonders on an acoustic kick track where I wanted a Really deep thud . Using it with the high frequency setting , also brought out the sizzle I wanted on a snare and cymbol. They both seemed to go beyond just using aggresive EQ. Sometimes it's only just a passing comment (or act) that can makes a big difference. (good or bad) Thanks .. mark

Epic Sound and production ! You make it look so easy.. Hats off to all of you .. Thanks mark -
Very Nice production .. I really liked the tone of the tambourine you used , and the laid back vocals. One thing that really grabbed me (in a good way) was the acoustic finger squeaks. "Train" once did a nice laid back song with Boosted string squeeks . They Really made the song work. Enjoyed it , hope to hear more soon .. mark

Fantastic Mix on this ! I Loved the repeating vocal stabs and her great voice. FX on the guitars was Real nice. No crits or suggestions. Enjoyed it .. mark The second link you shared gave me about a 3 second error , and then it loaded properly . ??

Look at the output on your Master track. Where is it sending the signal ? Zoom ? Motu ? Nowhere ?

I edited the OP to include it was the "Mercury" Light green theme no longer compatable. I'm sure there were more changes "under the hood" that were in this update that were not reported in the documentation . They were probably just not relevent to the average user. Such as .. first time getting a notice about Win 7 no longer being supported. I can make some color changes in prefrences and get close to what is comfortable for me. I might as well get acclimated to it now before the Sonar release. I probably should have posted this in the 2023 update remarks section but , it seemed after reading All of it , it wasn't the proper place to get a direct answer. Thanks .. mark

Don't know how I missed seeing this one ! Great job Gary , I've missed hearing your thick silky vocals. Very nice mix on this one as well. Enjoyed it .. mark

@John Vere Thanks. I'll try changing it back and see If I run into anything. I Love this theme. I navigated to the "core" folder and Scooks theme was the only one in it. ?? I was probably a couple of updates behind (doing offline authorization) but this was the first time I've had problems. I also could not install the update from within CbB , and had to go to Bandlab assistant to get it installed. I kept getting a connection error. I downloaded it from the Bandlab Assistant without a problem . This is even though the documentation says it no longer works. I now see why so many "newcomers" have problems installing and authorising. It's worth the effort when you get it done , but it should be easier. As usual , it's probably something I've done , or problems on my system . Thanks .. mark

Hello , I've read through all the changes in the 2023 update , and I have'nt seen anything related to custom themes. After installing , I'm now getting an uncompatable theme warning. It said continuing to use it may cause proplems in Cakewalk. It did give me the option to try and continue using it. I have read the changes in themes (or editor) would take place in the new Sonar release instead of this 2023 maint. update. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this , and if I am now needing stop using the "Scook Mercury light green" theme I've been using since it came out. Thanks .. Scook mark

Are you still logged in after reinstalling win7. Can you log in to bandlab assistant from your browser outside of Cakewalk ? If you can , click "apps" in bandlab assistant and see if your Cakewalk by Bandlab is up to date. You should be able to see your present version "inside" of Cakewalk by clicking help/about Cakewalk. You should see the 2023 version there. I installed it yesterday and had to go back and forth a couple of times before I got it updated and authorised. After logging out of Bandlab assistant from my browser , and then logging back into Bandlab "inside" of Cakewalk it authorised coorectly. Not a firewall problem for me .. ms

Very interesting and Creative song. I don't think I've heard one like it. This could almost be in the experimental genre. I like the way you returned to the intro before ending it. Don't think it needs a cowbell in the bridge , maybe a fairly strong 4/4 ride. Enjoyed it .. mark
