  1. wow, gary thain name drop! don't hear that one very often, and i'm a fan! LOL yea, i wanted the bass to be skinnier on this one, because it's so fat on the other songs from this set... but i did play around with the bass tones some, since i posted this, i have two parallel bass tracks, summed together, and on ONE of them, i put a waves J37 tape saturation effect, and this both fattened and slightly distorted the tone a bit, and brought that track up a bit, which fills out the bass more. definitely NOT a Thain heavy bass track, but more in that direction. thanks for the ideas!
  2. hey nigel! yea, the arrangement things will probably fly right past most everyone, but it will scratch an itch for me.
  3. hey dream!! thanks for the listen. i may work on the drums a bit more, and tweak the arrangement a bit.
  4. ha! tom, this might be the only one you get to hear, til i put it on little shiny disc thingys! but thanks for listening all the same, i typically make changes, add stuff, take stuff away, to my 'final' mixes that i put out for consideration, then they are part of the 'album' which i'll release digitally, because NO ONE buys cd's anymore!! ugh
  5. hey joad! yea, rock and roll! kinda what this is, pretty basic tune, the slide at the end was fun to play, but i think i captured all the harsh of the slide, and none of the richness and prime tone... but it's funny, that's the ONLY thing i heard on the outro of the song, like maybe, i should have played slide thru the whole thing! LOL
  6. https://batsbrew.bandcamp.com/track/jezebel first pass on this one, i'll continue working on the mix and some arrangement thingys, til i get to the time to combine this one with the others i have finished, for album #6.
  7. thanks for that mark! i appreciate it. and hope you can rock out a bit to this one...
  8. thanks mark! that was the first real workout i had on the new strat build
  9. hi nigel! glad you liked the jamming on this one, actually, everthing was worked out and arranged EXCEPT the big solo at the end...
  10. https://batsbrew.bandcamp.com/track/first-tracks a tune about skiing deep powder 1st song i tracked with my (at the time) new USACG strat build; so, the title is a double ent...
  11. i'd say, if anyone is needing a compressor, that g series SSL is a really nice plug.
  12. i have almost every compressor they make, except the strange one... but i'd say, my go to, are just a handful: cla2a, cl1176, ssl comp, and occasionally the good ole renaissance comp. i find the dynamic EQ F6 very helpful. sometimes vitamin.
  13. i've got all the compressors i'll ever need, and some extras to boot!
  14. think he meant "you're to blame" but not you. heheh
  15. hey ron! yea, the vocals, on this one, they were pretty straight up and simple, and least simpler than most all of my previous stuff. this song was my intentional target of a simpler song format, most of my stuff is a bit more progressive leaning. travel song, which is actually called "Following Light" from my first album, is actually a waltz! but a kind of raw rock waltz. i have an all instrumental album i just did back during the lockdown, called "Elemental", no vocals...you can check that one here: https://batsbrew.bandcamp.com/
  16. you know, i have the BOSS DD-200 delay pedal, and it has a really good version of the space echo in it, i use it quite often for guitar. i guess, if i had to just get ONE (the wallet decides) it'd probably be the OB 8. tho, i'm intrigued by the dream synth, i had an original Prophet V back in the day...
  17. thanks for the heads up wookiee... didn't know about cherry audio, they have SEVERAL ancient synth models i'm interested in, besides the quadra... they have the dream synth (Ensoniq ESQ-1 and prophet 5 hybrid), jupiter 4, Memorymoog. Korg's renowned MS-20, Oberheim Eight (yes!) even the ARP 2600! so, wow, i'd like all of those!! heheh
  18. howdy ho, ron pko! thanks for listening! glad you dig it... the synths i used, i think post date the 70's, but i get the drift... and some of the samples i used (like the beeping at the end, that's a recording of the Sputnik satellite!) go back to the 50's! heheh
  19. why thanks there, wookiee! glad you heard this one... i had fun with the synths, got to dial in some hopefully 'new' polyphonic analog-modeled synth stuff, i really need to find a good prophet 5 vst for a good price (free)! LOL that, and maybe a good Arp Quadra...
