  1. I remember signing up for a similar deal for Lunatic Audio - did they release anything other than a VST Pong game?

Not really - I (personally) found it to be the case on most of the kits. If the mic'ing is typical, I probably just need better technique for mixing drums - I find that when I try to bring up the rides to a good level, then the bleeds of the drums (e.g. kick/snare) become overpowering; when I try to tame those, the cymbals end up sounding a bit naff. I know you can turn down/off the bleeds in SD3, or do a dedicated ride mic (which is what I've been doing so far); I'm always happy to learn new techniques though, so happy to receive any drum mixing advice.
  3. If available, demo/walkthrough videos are a big clue. Sometimes the product descriptions will say things like 10,000 samples, deep-sampled, or 5 round-robins for multi-sampled instruments. Generally, the orchestral/piano/guitar/voice ones are multi-sampled; the Hybrid Tools series are more loop based.
  4. Do you have any examples? (i.e. a 'secret' way of asking what libraries we might want to put on our sales-wishlists ?)

As we've mentioned other drum software, does anyone find that the ride in SD3 (that by default is only captured by the overhead mic) is very quiet? I know you can modify the mics and assign a dedicated ride mic, but it seems a little strange to me to have this as a default setup. Disclaimer: I've never mic'ed up a real drumset so if this is how you might typically do the mics, I'm happy to stand corrected.

I was hoping that as it was modelled, it'd be able to do brushes/mallets. Alas, not the case... (yet?)

Sounds very cool - are the whispers separate instruments/patches, or are they baked into the vocals?
  8. This looks really good. Does how you draw have any effect on the sound? e.g. does left/right affect panning, or does drawing faster/slower affect pitch? Are the rendered .wav files mono, or stereo? (Sorry for the question-barrage)
  9. Not sure which coupon you mean, but their Bundle Maker coupons probably work; not sure if the free gift applies to the pre or post coupon price though.
  10. Just as a side point, so are probably all of your lithium ion batteries and motherboards
  11. Does anyone have any of their post-2018 orders showing up on JRR yet? I saw somewhere that they said they're slowly being restored, but it'd be interesting to know if anyone here has had theirs restored yet.

If you've been paying attention, you'd know by now that it's either GROUP, or FORUM ?
  14. You'll probably love ADAPTIVERB, but in case you're looking for yet another special FX reverb, have a look at Polyverse Comet (not on sale right now)
  15. Could be wrong, but I think the new one is for Ozone 9 that comes in the Tonal Balance Bundle. I think personal sales are permitted, but you're not allowed to post a price.
  16. Did you have a price range in mind?
  17. I think things have got better since 2005 and streaming services are partly the reason why; they started to introduce levels that music will be adjusted to. When a song is mastered really loud it sounds 'great' on hearing initially, because we perceive louder to be better. However, when that same loud song is brought back down, the lack of dynamics makes the song sound really weak when compared to a song that was mastered to the same output level. In the video, the interviewer says something along the lines of the loudness wars are over and 'you won'.
  18. Voice Of Wind: Kimba is the second volume in our modular female solo vocal series Voices of Wind. Each volume focuses on a new vocalist with a distinct creative style and comes complete with a full package of vital chromatic and melodic articulations that sound great and are easy to use in any music or video production project that comes your way. This edition focuses on the healing and joyfully unique mezzo-soprano voice of Kimba Theurich. Her sensitive, comforting and breathy vocal character effortlessly fuses classical, pop, folk, blues, Celtic and mystical vocal styles. Works with Kontakt Player https://soundiron.com/products/voice-of-wind-kimba
  19. Anyone have any opinions about SpringAge?
  20. Could be wrong, but I think the only time I saw it cheaper was when Overloud was doing a special because the future of Sonar was uncertain.
  21. Thanks for taking the time to listen - I generally use Insight to target an Integrated Loudness of -14 LUFS for each song. Yes, you're right: different genres tend to have different targets. I read an article a while ago that generally hinted that classical music was the quietest, at around -22; whereas the latest pop/rock was targeting somewhere between -10 and -12. That said, this was probably when the loudness wars was more prevalent, and streaming services have probably helped to lower the target a little. I'm pretty sure that different services have different levels still though, as products such as Mastering the Mix's Expose wouldn't exist otherwise.
  22. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your point, but I do sort of agree with the standards protecting your hearing. If we were to say (for sake of argument) that the standard is -14 LUFS, people/systems will at least try to adhere to it. If there was no such thing whatsoever, people would mix to whatever feels good on that day; you might end up with a mixed playlist with a track targeting -22 LUFS (which you really enjoy and turn up), to be surprised by the next song on the playlist that targeted -10 LUFS.
  23. I'm not entirely sure that lowering the price of Kontakt would make a huge difference to that market as a whole. I'm thinking people who make music for a living want a fairly diverse range of high quality instruments. Some Kontakt instruments can be fairly pricy: I've seen choirs between $300 - $500, a high quality suite of orchestral instruments would probably amount to more than $3000.
  24. Purely out of interest, what's wrong with the website? It's a little information-sparse, but gives a general overview of the things on offer. The colours don't clash, and it works with smaller window sizes as well.
