  1. Um, actually SMS stands for Short Messaging Service and has nothing to do with authentication. (MMS is its bigger brother and stands for Multimedia Messaging Service). There are several ways to implement 2FA which the most common being a texted PIN and having to use an Authenticator app.
  2. Reminds me of the video (that I'm too tired to go look for) where a guy has both Siri and Alexa in the same room. He asks Siri when it thinks of Alexa and it responds with "I think she's very nice." Then, across the room, Alexa replies with "Thanks!" I'm sure that having devices that are listening 24/7 would never be used by certain entities for nefarious purposes though. "Alexa: Tie my shoes!" Alexa: "You're not wearing shoes right now..."
  3. Isn't this exactly what 53mph said happened to him? ?
  4. High winds knocked out our power for about 80 minutes. It's events like that that make you question whether it's a good thing for everything to require an app!
  5. I used all those tools (in conjunction with Cakewalk) and thought they were all awesome! Definitely some memories...
  6. Here's one! https://www.amazon.com/Windows-Password-Reset-Drive-Server/dp/B0CH5BKFMR#:~:text=[COMPATIBILITY] Red Key USB will, system or lose any data.
  7. Even better, get one of the thumb drives that all us IT consulting geeks have! All you do is go into the BIOS during bootup, select boot from USB, insert the thumb drive and... once it boots up you can wipe out the Admin password (plus other stuff!). I've used mine a few times when a customer fires an employee but can't get into their password-protected computer or laptop. Definitely better than having to reinstall Windows! I'll have to find mine and get the brand. In the meantime, I'll try to remember where I bought it!
  8. Because this forum apparently does! ? Couldn't add frivolous content for over an hour today! ?
  9. Back around 2000 when I was just starting on my PhD work, I got the chance to work with the PhD who created these light & sound goggles: I've got one along with about a dozen of the glasses that each use different colored LED's. Several pairs are considered "experimental medial devices" by the FDA because they're twice as strong as they legally should be! The device has two outputs (for both light and sound) so that couples could use the device at the same time. (More info here if you're curious about the device: https://www.photosonix.com/products/nova-pro-100/ ) Anyway, the usual goggles had four LED's right in front of each eye (you wear these with your eyes closed and the LED's blink). The different colors cause different effects and, after awhile, are not strong enough (in my not so humble opinion!). So we doubled up the number of LED's and used both light outputs! I still have and use these; they are AWESOME! (Especially while using certain "plant medicines!" ? ) Anyway, when we started the project, we were limited in what colors we could use and I was bummed that my favorite color (blue) wasn't available... Then I got an excited call from the guy saying he had access to some from someplace in Japan! I never made the connection before, but I wonder if it was from the same company! I was VERY happy to get both some blue LED's as well as white. My favorite pair of goggles has blue in the middle surrounded by white. ?
