  1. It’s very clunky to do this with cakewalk. There are lots of DJ players that do this with a simple slide control. I had the software back in XP days.it was called Virtual DJ. Probably long gone. Nope just checked and it’s still made- Virtual DJ 2023. $18. There might be others but it had both tempo matching with speed that could be set to change the pitch or keep it. Its a multi step process in Cakewalk involving so much I always forget how to do it.
  2. They must have hired new staff because the PDF manual for Next , which is only 256 pages, the index takes you to the page. So a click in the help menu, short scroll to index one more click and there’s you info and very clear and easy to understand. So possibly this feature request can be transferred to the new Sonar.
  3. Cakewalk can drive me bonkers sometimes. Hopefully they can tidy things up with Sonar. This code is very very old and cluttered.
  4. The TTS-1 will crash if added to a project afterwards. It seems fine as the first thing added but as said it is an old unsupported instrument. It’s drum set is pretty terrible anyway so use the SI drums which are actually very good if you tweak them a bit. Another one I like is the free Steven Slate drums.
  5. Open the PRV views menu and see if the drum pane is selected.
  6. Man I hate to even repeat this one again because these threads just won’t go away. But the big difference between the Bandlab Cakewalk and all the older versions is the on line activation. Actually Splat is kind of the same, it won’t time out like CbB but if the server dies you are out of luck with a new computer instal. So they have 100% control of the software and who can use it. Why do you think they made it so the latest update will be the only version that will stay activated. They are smart people. They are in business. They are managing this business in a business like manner which we should all support because this helps secure the future of the DAW we have chosen to stay with. If Next is an example of what they can accomplish then this is heading in a very good direction . The more I work with it the more excellent designing I find. They have streamlined the UI to now have possible the best beginners DAW ever made. Looking forward to finding some of these improvements in Sonar. Like the lyrics track and stem separation.
  7. Not sure what you mean by this. Save as to a new location like a back up drive with the copy audio checked will save the current state of the project. It will write new audio files taken from the project into the new audio folder . This is the whole point of doing this. It is the reason you have to check that box. If you don’t check the box then yes the new save as version will be useless. Unless it’s in the original folder then it will use the same audio folder. A messy project that has audio scattered all over will now be neat and tidy in one folder. But check that box.
  8. @User 905133 Odd you mentioned having to re save a workspace to make custom shortcuts stick. I’ve never had that happen?? But you got me thinking. I’m just rebuilding and I just set up about 10 custom shortcuts. I haven’t created any workspaces yet. I’m just on advanced.
  9. Exactly how I feel. It only seems to matter to the people who think they are being ripped off. You should see the posts on Facebook and Discord. I personally feel these are exciting times for long time users.
  10. Did you search on the internet. That’s how I found one for my Korg. Edit: mr T Parker. What is it about my reply that deserves a thumbs down ? The answer I gave is the best advice I have to offer and it was a productive solution to the OP issue. I had a problem finding a .ins file and I simply Googled it at found it on another music forum. It’s a lot faster than waiting for a reply. People are always sharing them. They are a lot of work to create your own. The chances are much slimmer that someone here will see this post and actually have it. But that would be great.
  11. The odd thing is they don’t really answer the question asked many times “ Will Cakewalk still be available forever” Read the info in the above link a few times and tell me if it say forever? It is sort of vague if you ask me. I personally don’t care because I have a few hundred bucks of gig money still left over earmarked for Sonar. I might even buy Next if it’s the right price. its just too cute. To answer the OP question there’s a full installer on the web site download and put in a safe place.
  12. This! It's sort of a lifelong quest. I don't have much of that left.
  13. Remove video which was all about Next. Was told we agreed to keep it under the lid until its ready.
  14. I just bought a 128 GB USB flash drive for $12. Storage is dirt cheap. 1 TB drives are well under $100 now and you can use the Samsung Magician to migrate to the new drive. Simple
  15. +100 to using Save as to place projects in a backup drive to transfer or even just to keep safe. just make sure to check that copy audio box. Unchecking that box is a guaranteed way to make the above issue happen.
  16. I decided to just redo the old HP from scratch. It has 2 new SSD 500 GB drives 32 GB RAM and it’s a 2010 top of the line i7 4 core. Thank goodness it automatically authorized W10 on boot up. I have no clue what the actual code is as the one on the side is W7. It will serve as a tester for new software and plug ins and a backup. I’ll see if I lost a few things that you are supposed to deactivate on original machine. Not sure if it will be recognized that way. But nothing like a fresh start. I just installed Next. I’m not going to install CbB or older Sonar just yet. I will also hold off on 3rd park plug ins. When I get Sonar beta I will install it here first too. That way I can test with out any doubt of carry over goodies from my past.
  17. I will almost guarantee you that it is a plug in. I just spent about a week sorting this out. I just built a new computer so moving from W10 to W11 It’s bad that Cakewalk is so picky about plug ins but it seems to be the case. For me it was a combination of putting certain plug ins in the exact same folders as they were on the computer the project originated from. I also tried only installing VST3 version when available and that was a mistake. So I had to uninstall and reinstall the ones that were crashing Cakewalk. You have to open in Safe mode to sort this out. Once I got it stable enough projects would open with a list of missing plug ins. They actually were installed and listed but location different. So you select the bracketed plug in and choose replace and re select it. Only bummer is you loose the settings. You need to go back to original computer and write them down. Then there’s some plug ins that W11 doesn’t like and Cakewalk can’t even scan them. Turn off auto scan and see if Cakewalk loads faster. For me one was Focusrite Midnight Compressor. Lounge Lizard is also not working on most projects. I never had this problem in the past as I have 3 W10 computers and 2 computers with W7. And it wasn’t CbB because same projects crashed Sonar Platinum.
  18. And add to that the Arranger Track. Hey did you know that Next has a Lyric track that is just like the arranger track. I’ve been using the arranger track for lyrics for a long time. They borrowed my idea. Hopefully it will be a new Sonar feature.
  19. Exactly. I will rough in a song and from that I will have midi bass, drums and keyboards along with the rough vocals and guitar. If I don’t like the original tempo then I delete the audio try a new tempo and re record the vocals and guitars. In other words don’t waist time on the audio until you are dead sure of tempo. There’s no real good way to speed up audio. But having midi as the foundation of the backing track makes it easier to develop a song.
  20. I don’t care what software you use Messing with things like this only results in artifacts. You might not hear them but they will be there! Might as well record on a cassette player.
  21. It’s actually pretty harmless. And you actually don’t need to be involved to get Next. I just installed it on a second machine and avoided the whole show. Basically told Discord to FO. Next is running just fine with out it. I reported a bug about 3 days ago on my other machine and nothing happened. No reply. It’s just like Facebook with people telling you to install asio4all to fix your audio problem.
  22. OK I stand corrected. It was sooo long ago. But still as I said even if you don’t put in this application the Beta version will be public if they repeat what they are doing with Next. And we’ll see if they also use Discord.
  23. Did you try using the start screen recent projects?
  24. That’s what I thought. That info @Jeremy Oakes posted is old news from a long while ago. And as I said I signed up for beta test of both Sonar and Next and was never notified about Next. I got that here on the forum. So the application for beta testing is 100% data gathering. You will probably still get to try Sonar beta even if you don’t apply. At least that’s what happened with Next.
  25. @Glenn Stanton Interesting you mentioned that. The day after I had been installing my plug ins and what not I get a message on my phone that one drive was almost full. I guess as you say the default is for it to sync everything and then beg for money when it runs out of room. I guess I had this under control on old computer as I only use one drive for Word doc and PDF. No pictures etc. I only have the free 5 GB. So I opened one drive web version and everything I’d done the day before was there as well as it was trying to upload all my pictures from the data drives. I deleted 4 GB of stuff and turned off sync. But I’ll look later and see if it’s still off. I was working from the new M2 drive. But it’s interesting that I renamed all the files like I’ve done forever with one click on the name to highlight and type over. Hmm is it a W11 thing? I hate the way they removed Delete from the right click menu! It’s on a second layer. If One drive was syncing I guess anything is possible. Still some work to do before this new machine is beat into submission.
