Yes it was after I bought the M4 I realized they were a Mac Centric company.
-
You should contact Motu support. They got back to me within a day. I wasn’t happy about the solution but it did solve the problem
-
If you do. Do you still get stuck notes?
-
Mr @bitflipper is our resident keys expert. I believe he has years of experience with live stuff. But your keyboard controller should easily be able to do this. My Roland has a few assignable buttons I’m sure can be mapped to track focus. I even think my el cheapie Akai can too.

The audio buffer has nothing to do with midi. Well you ruled out the buffers and so that tosses it back to a hardware problem. Try a different controller, cables, midi interface etc

No audio from line in with Sonar Platinum

I would use the RCA tape outputs and a RCA to 1/8” cable you used to get cheap at dollar stores when those MP3 players were popular. I still have a collection of them because I also used them from my laptop to my home stereo and my PA mixer. Actually the worst issue is if you record silence the noise floor would be horrendous like 45db. The audio input circuit is worth about $3.00. Outputs are normally much better quality but nobody who builds computers would be expecting some one to use the input for anything but a Skype call -
VST Scan Extremely Slow On 2 Computers - SOLVED
John Vere replied to Lee Jackson's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
It’s not the software. First 2000 plug ins is obsessively a lot. most of us might have 200 and that’s too many. So You do need to use manual scan if your going to horde that many plug ins. What I have done is create a VST folder where I put all the junk I never use. There’s a lot. That folder is not on my scan list. If I do desire to try one I will copy it to my regular folder and because I don’t need manual scan off, Cakewalk adds it. Simple. Cakewalk loads in less than 10 seconds for me.- 17 replies

No audio from line in with Sonar Platinum
John Vere replied to Jean Claude's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Hey, who are we to judge what someone thinks sounds good or not. But it's not something I would even try. I have made it work using a small mixer. But then the mixer cost as much as an audio interface. -
You got to be kidding. That's crazy. Someone needs to talk to the developers about this default workspace thing. Causing to many posts here

You will have nothing but trouble trying to record audio with a on board sound card. You can do a lot with on board but I recommend a proper ASIO audio interface if recording audio is part of your plans. # 1 is your tracks will not be in sync without an ASIO driver. And on board does not support ASIO with any degree of success. Asio4all is not ASIO it is a wrapper for WDM mode. WASAPI is the best driver mode for on board. -
Is yours buss powered? My M4 is bus powered and Motu support recommended I buy a PCIe USB 3 card. Thanks Motu, you saved $10 on a wall wrt and now I have to spend $30 to get power. That solved all my weirdness with the exception of I get distorted recordings randomly where the only fix is to re boot the computer. Have no clue why. It's defiantly to do with running other apps when Cakewalk is open. Never had this issue with my Tascam or Focusrite. Also it's supper fussy about everything must be set to either 44.1 or 48. Windows, Cakewalk all my audio and video software, everything or things don't work. Might be something you could try too. Motu is sort of on my s--t list now. Mostly it behaves and all is good. Be a while before I need another interface and hopefully this time I'll have the cash for what I really want- RME.

PRV multi-track editing: Show notes of only ONE track at a time
John Vere replied to Dave G's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Well thanks for bringing it up as I actually learned a few new features by exploring a bit deeper to figure this out. I didn't know about the re clicking a track with control held down to keep them all open. I used to just re click them all. I also never realized that the side bar is actually a mini track view. I always thought it was just a midi track view because that's the default. I never thought there's be a reason to want to see an audio track. But yes, you need that for lining up midi bass with audio kick track or visa versa. It's my payback for helping on the forum- I learn new stuff. -
The other thing to watch for is sometimes a window is hidden either off screen if you sometimes use a second monitor, or behind the main window.
-
Are you saying it's missing from the views menu?
-
Are saying you only hear the hum when the guitar is plugged into the system? Is this a electric guitar? This could be a case of a bad cable or a pre amp miss match. Are you having to crank the pre amp on the Tascam way up? Are you using the guitar input and the guitar selection switch?

PRV multi-track editing: Show notes of only ONE track at a time

Actually as far as this goes I just opened Splat and it seems to be the same I forgot it was added then. Your screens look different than mine. Notice the auto lock is highlighted. I can't see that feature on yours? Possibly a Sonar Artist version thing. But the locks and pencil show the same for me in both Splat and CbB. All I do is hold down ctrl while clicking. The only hick up is If I say select four tracks and Put say track 4 in focus to edit, Now I see a note in Track 2 I want to Fix I can hold down CRTL and select track 2 and all 4 tracks stay there, Track 2 is highlighted and can be edited, but the pencil is not highlighted anymore, I have to re click with Ctrl to re highlight it and then I can move to a different track using ctrl click. -
PRV multi-track editing: Show notes of only ONE track at a time
John Vere replied to Dave G's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Oh I just realized your still using Sonar. So there's one good reason to upgrade to Cakewalk. They made a lot of improvements to the PVR and the side bar I'm using is one of them. I don't think it was there in Splat. -
OK sorry I didn't see that you had just replied to the others. Carry on and good luck.
-
OK they all look normal to me. Those are all correct settings. But I still think there's a audio loopback happening somewhere if the sound starts out quiet and slowly builds up. It could even be a certain plug in your using. There's nothing generally wrong with using a Real tech audio system. I have that on my office computer and it's very good for just In the Box work. I've never had issues with the sound. There is always the possibility that it is defective, after all they are having huge issues with manufacturing electronics right now. Not a good time to buy. Compromises are probably being made. The guy who cleaned the washrooms has been handed the soldering iron.

You didn't read my post? You need to set this up properly and I've given you all the correct information.

PRV multi-track editing: Show notes of only ONE track at a time
John Vere replied to Dave G's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Myself I just use the view on the right side in PVR to choose the track I want. If you hold Ctrl and click other tracks they will open and the first track will be showing as a ghosted track. In my screen shot I first selected track 1 Piano , held ctrl and selected track 6 strings. You can have as many ghosted tracks as you want. They show with locks. The one you edit has a pencil tools icon. My default is only midi tracks but you can also show the audio tracks using the filter. I use 2 monitors so PVR is always full screen. But even with one screen you can double click the PVR tab of the Multi Dock and it will go full screen like you see in my screenshot, then I use the D shortcut to hide show the whole thing. I hate having that half screen view. Might be because you have the side view hidden you didn't know the side view existed. Use the little double arrows to hide show or the shortcut H if the PVR is in focus. -
Watch this video and then tell me if it still not working Problem might be the ASIO driver which is from 2014 has reached its end of life. But make sure you download and use it https://tascam.com/us/product/us-144mkii/download You don’t want input echo on for recording audio especially with an interface that probably has 27 ms of latency ? Use the monitor mix control set at 12 o clock so it’s a blend of the computer and the input. This gives you the desired direct monitoring of your guitar with no latency. If you are trying to use amp sims forget it. You will need a better interface for that to work with out huge latency

The Yamaha AG06 is a proper audio interface. It uses a Stienberg ASIO driver. Make sure you install that and use ASIO mode. https://usa.yamaha.com/products/music_production/interfaces/ag_series/downloads.html Actually a very nifty interface. I used to have a 16 channel Yamaha mixer with the same drivers and it was very solid with Cakewalk. You’re definitely going to need to read the manual for this one.

I’ll confirm that this is something new and obviously part of the new export system. Very annoying to have a useless folder created inside every project folder. Most annoying is just opening a midi file to preview
-
Ok if you did everything in my video and you still have an issue let’s try something else. 1- make sure to disable all audio input devices. You can start in Cakewalk preferences by unchecking all inputs. You can also do this in Windows sound settings as shown in video. As I said in the video best to uncheck all devices you are not using 2- in Preferences/Midi devices uncheck all outputs. Make sure none of your VST’s have midi output selected but by disabling outputs this should not matter. There’s a possibility of a feedback loop ? happening. Screenshots of your Audio settings and midi devices might help us troubleshoot
