Question-Audio system Windows 11 users
John Vere replied to John Vere's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks Eddie. By the way, turn off those enhancements. And the reason I was asking is that I also always uncheck those Exclusive mode boxes so I can open other music apps with Cakewalk open. Looks like nothing changed in W11. -
Not much to go on so a few guesses. Open Task Manager and see if it is running. 2 Monitors? Hidden behind something? Minimized to system tray? Not installed properly- re install Try opening in Safe Mode- hold shift and click on a Project file.

Output issue with cakewalk regardless of driver
John Vere replied to Michael Finnity's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
DId you try opening Cakewalk in Safe mode? Hold Shift. Here's a video. https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/topic/31201-how-to-open-projects-in-safe-mode/ This video explains how to properly set up audio in Cakewalk, https://youtu.be/JM8rKHQ9GIo it's for W10 so I'm not sure if this new W11 update changed anything. I've ask this question just now in a new thread. https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/topic/43336-question-audio-system-windows-11-users/ But I caan see in your screen shot your tracks are outputing directly to High Def Audio and not the Master, therefore the message. -
I cannot install W11 on any of my computers so I cannot help troubleshoot audio issues for people who do. Lately there's been questions about not being able to share audio with Cakewalk open. In W10 there's a setting that solves this issue for most. See picture. Does this setting still exsist in W11? On W10 it's found System/Sound/Device Proerties/ Additional Device properties/Advanced tab.

I don't think there would be a size limit. I just grabbed a MP3 file and edited it in Gold Wave to a 1.5 second snippet. I saved as a wave to the folder and loaded it as the metronome and it played just fine. How are you making your wave files and how long is it. It should be just a burst at 1 to 2 seconds.

1- You have Midi output enabled in the Soft Synth. 2. You have all inputs selected instead of just your keyboard controller. 3. You have MIDI output selected in Midi Preferences which you do not need unless you are using Midi hardware for sounds. These 3 things can cause a Midi loopback. By the way, you should download and use OBS for screen captures. It's Free. https://obsproject.com/ For still pictures just use Windows key/PRT SCRN it will save it to your pictures folder. Also there is LICECap to make a GIF capture,. Your video was blurry so not much help.

How to extract MIDI drum track from drum MP3
John Vere replied to Skyline_UK's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Exactly what I was thinking. Things were definatly different back then. My Roland 505 tempo drifts because that is set with a knob. It's gotten worse over time as a result of the pot is probably worn out. I do remember that the Lynn drums were concidered the state of the art at the time. This is listed on Reverb for $10,000! It doesn't have MIDI but it did use a DIN jack for syncing( to what?? an Atari? ) . This statment might explain the timing-- "This machine is legendary for a reason. Unbelievable sounds, the pitch function is phenomenal, the quantizing (for a super old unit) is surprisingly good. If you can find it, buy it." -
Yes if this if for replication you go to next level. Both Sound Forge and Wave Lab do the DDP creation thing. Ask the replication people what format they require. Some even can use higher quality files like 48/32.

How to extract MIDI drum track from drum MP3
John Vere replied to Skyline_UK's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
No humans were used on the original drum part. It says it was a Linn LM 1. It’s the bass line that to me gives it that groove The bass part was a direct rip of Supremes You can’t hurry Love whom I believe might have been played by James Jameson Hal and Oats were among the early sequencer driven music groups that came out in the 80’s -
It was a video. But hard to see details like what Piano synth did you use. Does it do that if you use a different VST?

Seems Magix has discontinued the CD Architect software. At least is not easy to find on the web site. I'm a registered user because I have Movie Maker and Sound Forge. If you have an older version it should still run fine on W10. I have lots of vintage music apps that were made for XP that still run. But I've always used Nero. Last time I paid $30 on sale. https://www.nero.com/eng/products/nero-burning-rom/?vlang=de

How to extract MIDI drum track from drum MP3
John Vere replied to Skyline_UK's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Strangely I just made a tutorial on how to do something like this. There's no magic button. It's a lot of work. And the Melodyne tempo extraction can go haywire on you. I just did this again a few days ago on another old recording of mine and I'm rebuilding that song as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuPc1RjBRbc There's also this one on Drum replacer. Drum replacer was designed to be used on solo drum tracks from a multitrack recording and works badly on a mixed track. https://youtu.be/OnR0b8OPve8 But there's a much easier way to do this. I just Googled "Maneater Midi file" Freemidi org is an easy to use site with 1,000's of good files and safe downloads. I just double clicked the file and it opened in Cakewalk and played sounding actually pretty good with the TTS-1. Just make sure you have no midi outputs checked for that to work. https://freemidi.org/download3-3644-man-eater-hall-and-oats#google_vignette The drum track seems accurate to the original, nothing fancy. Interecting use of the Nylon Guitar as a bass! Never thought of that it actually sounds better than any of the GM bass sounds. -
I just finished my "Album" and I posted the Sound Click link to my Facebook page so my friends and Family could listen if they liked. I was supprised at how many listened to the all the songs in a row. One couple said they opened a bottle of wine and enjoyed the "concert". Another said it reminded them of back when you did buy albums and sat and listened while reading the liner notes. I guess people expect a video on You Tube but making a Good video is much harder than making a Good recording for me. And I can't stand the ones that are just still pictures. What was the point of that. I guess you could make a "liner notes" and post that as the still shot.
-
I highly recomend you watch some of the first videos in my tutorial series. That will get you going a lot faster. You're probably looping your output to the mixer back. Read the Mackie manual for proper instructions on setting up monitoring the USB channel without it looping back.
-
Yet another question that got my curiosity. I thought this would be simple. I went to the place I thought I'd find the metronome folder and it was there. I changed the name of a file and opened Cakewalk and the sound I changed was still the same? I then did a search for Ping Hi and I was right in my guess. I found multiple file locations for the Metronome. I opened each one and Renamed the Beep with the folder location. Opened Cakewalk and found the correct folder. which was the most hidded one on the list. ( see #5) Not sure why Cakewalk creates the other folders other than the fact I have Splat and X1 installed. But 7?? Probably yet another bit of old coding that never got deleted. I had to re start Cakewalk to get it to stick on the list.

That says it all right there. My Chevy Truck 1999, My Apple Phone 2016 . Oh and did you read that Gibson guitars have been known to also catch on fire if you use Amp sims. I have a Canadian Spell Checker installed. It's Colour, not Color. Goodby also passes even though the e on the end is the most common spelling. But I was trying to keep my message short.
-
The last Goodby thread ended up being 3 pages, 50 replies, over 2,000 veiws. The OP only responded back once 1/2 way down page one but the thread soldiered on withou them. Goodbye threads are obviously good reading. Here we go again.
-
The OP said Therefore it is just a setting in the plug in. I always have to turn the Amps WAY down. The default is a red line with a modest -10.0 db signal.
-
you didn't supply any information about your gear. Is it a $10 or a $400 USB mike. What is your audio interface, are you switching driver modes?
-
I did see Motu 24ao mentioned. This uses class compliant drivers. End of story. Looks to me like the 24ao is for a Mac only. Is the OP using a Mac? Doesn't seem like it as the "new Software" they chose is also PC only https://www.magix.com/us/sem/samplitude-pro-x/ Looks like throwning in the towel will set you back $ 230. If it's anything like there other software expect bugs and crashes. I had to stay with Movie Maker 14 as 17 just freezes up on me. But Sound Forge is an old program that seems solid. Sampletude isn't a DAW you hear much about. Troubleshooting is a process of elimination. And stories like this one are proof that I don’t care how powerful your computer is you still need to set up the audio system properly and optimized too. Cakewalk is more intigrated and as we all know it works best when paired with a top quality ASIO driver.
-
I explain in this video You connect the output of your interface back to an input and re record the signal then zoom in to see if it lines up. You are using the ASIO driver?
-
Your best bet would’ve to perform a loopback test to make sure your interface is reporting RTL to Cakewalk correctly.

They are super important to your workflow and how you work inside Cakewalk. There are many features that Cakewalk offers that people just totally ignore and carry on. Then one day they discover this feature and a light bulb goes on and they realize what they were missing. While making my tutorials It made me carefully study each little corner of Cakewalk. Boy did I find a lot of stuff I had never used or paid attention to. My workflow has taken a huge jump forward since. Workspaces was one of them as well as learning about customizing the control bar. https://youtu.be/tzUtfEl4sps https://youtu.be/hOSQEz-G7B0
