99.9 % of the time this is due to a Sample rate miss match. If your new to Cakewalk then these videos will quickly bring you up to speed.

It's weird because the "Selct None " or CTRL/SHIFT/A was what was commonly recommended on the forum here for years. For most of us it always worked and was more reliable than CTRL/A and became a habit. When the new export dialogue was introduced I stopped doing that and I must of exported 100's of song or stems that way without any issues. Just about a month ago, after they did some small changes to the export dialogue, I started getting the silent treatment again. I have returned to using CTRL/SHIFT/A and so far so good.

As always a great track. I also like that your doing an "Album" it's becoming a lost art.

What your seeing is a heavy resorce HOG! That will happen when you use certain plug ins that are heavy load. I personally aviod them unless there are no other options. It forces you to dial in a setting and freeze the track.

Anyone have a dedicated USB out electric guitar device?
John Vere replied to Marc Harris's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I have the M4 as well. Motu is more of a Mac focused company so you are correct. There is less uspport for native windows drivers. I do beleieve WASAPI shared works. -
This! RME apparently has good support. I would start there.

I can only assume you carefully followed the instructions in the tutorials. If you did then it should be working. The steps to select your keyboard controller as input are clearly explained in both videos I'm curious about the title shown in preferences as "midi-keyboard" Normally the brand name is displayed. This is why you need to follow my instruction in the video as I'm not sure you have the proper driver installed.

How to Export an SI Instrument Generated Track to MIDI?
John Vere replied to Lou Black's topic in Instruments & Effects
Open the PVR and the Contoller pane. You will see if the midi track has veleocity. You can export midi using SAVE AS. You might want to watch some tutorials to learn the basics. -
Anyone have a dedicated USB out electric guitar device?
John Vere replied to Marc Harris's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
As said above the solution is to find a driver that supports both devices and use that just while tracking the guitar. But that is the Catch. The device might not support the driver. I have a Blackstar amp with USB output and it will work with WDM but not WASAPI. Then, as said, the new guitar track will be late by around 500ms and I have to bump it back. Just not worth it, so I just mike the amp which actually is a much better sound anyway. A speaker is an important part of guitar tone. I also have a Zoom multi effects pedal with USB and it sounds exactly the same if I just use the line out. Therefore just because the signal doesn't pass back through the D/A convertor it will not actually imporve the sound quality by any measurable amount. -
They are still working the bugs out of the new export dialogue. It gets better with every new release. But that said I have been proofing 20 song by export as MP3 and uploading to listen on other systems. So I’ve used it over 100 times b now Only time they screwed up was when there was only one track selected so I’m back to remembering to use Select None first. But generally I’ve found no bugs other than the way it randomly sometimes keeps my settings and then mostly it doesn’t. The release notes says this has been fixed so I’ll soon find out. One thing comes to mind is to make sure your audio interface is the source of the export and not something weird which is a higher probability with on board audio that is not set up correctly

Software can do amazing things but not that.

UN-wanted wasted space-How to undo this?
John Vere replied to Pathfinder's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
?? You'd be lucky to display 1 very collapsed track in there. Why the fuss. They have to design the graffic interface to accommodate features that can be opened or collapsed there. I find this totally exceptable. You do realize you can hide the Control bar if you want a little more vertical space "C" -
Hey Arno. I just made a video about exctracting drum tracks from a finished song possibly the information will help you.

And to update the information posted here, there is now a very important change. Cakewalk now comes with Melodyne 5 as the demo for 30 days. Now when the demo expires the Audio to Midi and the Audio to Tempo Map features will no longer work. You will need to purchase a Melodyne 5 Licence. Melodyne starts at around $100. It goes on sale every year in November Black Friday deals. I have not tested this but I do beleieve if you have started with Cakewalk before this update then you will still have Melodyne 4 Demo installed and that will remain. So the Audio to Midi will still work for those whop have Melodyne 4. I you want to know what version you have go to the start menu and look for Celemony - Melodyne and open the GUI and then under Help to open this screen. I'm not sure why mine is saying it expires in 153 days? I bought it. I will email them and ask.

It can depend on the export settings. Example “tracks through entire mix” will export everything that is checked on the list, even muted tracks. The “Entire mix “ pre set is the best for export of What you hear. And understanding signal flow helps to troubleshoot routing issues. Generally it’s top to bottom on the track strip. But careful if you engage pre fader options on effect sends. Solo busses and also mute the master is another good way to make sure routing is correct. I always have a bus for each part so I would just need to mute the Drum Buss

I finished this one just for you

Ok got it. If you check out my channel I have lots of videos that have information about using busses, mixing and signal flow

R=Record W=Rewind to start Space bar=Start stop transport CTRL W will toggle the space bar between stop in place and return to where you started. This is handy for redoing parts in the middle of a project. ALT/mouse scroll = zoom in or out which I also use a lot to find stuff. All the keyboard shortcuts are listed if you look in the help menu found on the menu bar. If you’re new to Cakewalk I highly recommend you take a little time to watch the videos to learn the basics Mine are in sequence

Here’s another one for albums

Of course one could output directly to your audio interface but you will not have proper control over your level. The master bus is where you always will need a limiter to catch peaks. Or the opposite would be your tracks are too quiet compared to the rest of the world. My method demonstrated here is very basic mastering just to get newbies started. Mastering is a process one cannot ignore it’s importance and fake it. Always mute your master bus to make sure all buses and tracks are correctly assigned
