They are still working the bugs out of the new export dialogue. It gets better with every new release. But that said I have been proofing 20 song by export as MP3 and uploading to listen on other systems. So I’ve used it over 100 times b now Only time they screwed up was when there was only one track selected so I’m back to remembering to use Select None first. But generally I’ve found no bugs other than the way it randomly sometimes keeps my settings and then mostly it doesn’t. The release notes says this has been fixed so I’ll soon find out. One thing comes to mind is to make sure your audio interface is the source of the export and not something weird which is a higher probability with on board audio that is not set up correctly

Software can do amazing things but not that.

UN-wanted wasted space-How to undo this?
John Vere replied to Pathfinder's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
?? You'd be lucky to display 1 very collapsed track in there. Why the fuss. They have to design the graffic interface to accommodate features that can be opened or collapsed there. I find this totally exceptable. You do realize you can hide the Control bar if you want a little more vertical space "C" -
Hey Arno. I just made a video about exctracting drum tracks from a finished song possibly the information will help you.

And to update the information posted here, there is now a very important change. Cakewalk now comes with Melodyne 5 as the demo for 30 days. Now when the demo expires the Audio to Midi and the Audio to Tempo Map features will no longer work. You will need to purchase a Melodyne 5 Licence. Melodyne starts at around $100. It goes on sale every year in November Black Friday deals. I have not tested this but I do beleieve if you have started with Cakewalk before this update then you will still have Melodyne 4 Demo installed and that will remain. So the Audio to Midi will still work for those whop have Melodyne 4. I you want to know what version you have go to the start menu and look for Celemony - Melodyne and open the GUI and then under Help to open this screen. I'm not sure why mine is saying it expires in 153 days? I bought it. I will email them and ask.

It can depend on the export settings. Example “tracks through entire mix” will export everything that is checked on the list, even muted tracks. The “Entire mix “ pre set is the best for export of What you hear. And understanding signal flow helps to troubleshoot routing issues. Generally it’s top to bottom on the track strip. But careful if you engage pre fader options on effect sends. Solo busses and also mute the master is another good way to make sure routing is correct. I always have a bus for each part so I would just need to mute the Drum Buss

I finished this one just for you

Ok got it. If you check out my channel I have lots of videos that have information about using busses, mixing and signal flow

R=Record W=Rewind to start Space bar=Start stop transport CTRL W will toggle the space bar between stop in place and return to where you started. This is handy for redoing parts in the middle of a project. ALT/mouse scroll = zoom in or out which I also use a lot to find stuff. All the keyboard shortcuts are listed if you look in the help menu found on the menu bar. If you’re new to Cakewalk I highly recommend you take a little time to watch the videos to learn the basics Mine are in sequence

Here’s another one for albums

Of course one could output directly to your audio interface but you will not have proper control over your level. The master bus is where you always will need a limiter to catch peaks. Or the opposite would be your tracks are too quiet compared to the rest of the world. My method demonstrated here is very basic mastering just to get newbies started. Mastering is a process one cannot ignore it’s importance and fake it. Always mute your master bus to make sure all buses and tracks are correctly assigned

Apparently not according to some older threads on the topic. The only solution recommended was a Control surface.

Are you talking about this? https://www.vsl.co.at/en/Vienna_Software_Package/Vienna_Ensemble_Pro If so this information will be in the instructions for the software. Cakewalk does not have a limit on midi tracks if that's what your asking.

Constant crash with TTS general midi plugin
John Vere replied to Hugh Blaney's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Lots of people have reported it crashing Cakewalk. Just loading it into a busy project and poof! Cakewalk closes. It has now crashed projects a few times on me, j ust happened to me a short while ago. I forgot that it crashes and it always suprises me because I have used it without issues for years to start projects with. I actually prefered it's kick drum back when I used Session drummer. So I have a lot of projects that still have it and they never crash, but I have yet to add it to a fully developed project for a few years now. -
How to turn the Loop function off and on with a foot switch
John Vere replied to Jimbo 88's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Yes @Terry Kelley Thats very similar to the one I bought from Amazon. Different brand. These are just fine for Cakewalk simple control, But ..... This is the one I use for live performance as recomended by other musicains. It gives me 5 controls and uses standard sustain type keyboard pedals with 1/8" jacks which I bought for $12 each. So the quality is bullet proof. It was more money but I've had it for years now and still working great. SIze of a pack of smokes. The Be aware that the The $30 - $60 models from China come with sort of iffy software and no support. But the stealth has proper support documents and software that they update. I think they are made in USA. https://stealthswitch3.com/ Another company that I bought from was this company, top quality built in USA stuff. https://xkeys.com/xkeys.html this one https://xkeys.com/xkfootmedia.html but it only had 3 switches. But it's built like a tank and my first one I bought in 2004 and it wore out and they sent me a bunch of the switchs free! They also keep the software up to date. -
Using outboard hardware is much more complicated than using soft synths. You need to be very technically savvy. One of the examples of this is it’s important to fully understand how you set up the hardware and what data is being transmitted and received by both the hardware and the DAW. To test the automation is actually working insert a soft synth and send the midi track to that instead. If that works then it’s a setting in the hardware that needs to be fixed.

Constant crash with TTS general midi plugin
John Vere replied to Hugh Blaney's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
TTS- will not crash if it was the first thing added to a project. But everyone has reported crashing if it is added later. What was the instrument you were after? Possibly we can make alternate recommendations of something free you can use. -
How to turn the Loop function off and on with a foot switch
John Vere replied to Jimbo 88's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
For $ 20-30 you can purchase a USB programable foot switch. They record any keystrokes and mouse clicks. I have one of the 3 switch ones and it is set up with R-W and Space bar for Cakewalk. -
I found this stereo widening plug in I think it’s Blue Tube and must have come with Sonar. I’ve been getting a nice headphone spread with that.
-
This video explains all the options for Cakewalks skylight interface, hide show, resize etc. I used to struggle with this stuff too Now I have no problem making it the way I want with just a few keystrokes. You other friend is to use workspaces once you have a view set up to your liking
