1- You have Midi output enabled in the Soft Synth. 2. You have all inputs selected instead of just your keyboard controller. 3. You have MIDI output selected in Midi Preferences which you do not need unless you are using Midi hardware for sounds. These 3 things can cause a Midi loopback. Also there is LICECap to make a GIF capture,. Your video was blurry so not much help.

Exactly what I was thinking. Things were definatly different back then. My Roland 505 tempo drifts because that is set with a knob. It's gotten worse over time as a result of the pot is probably worn out. I do remember that the Lynn drums were concidered the state of the art at the time. This is listed on Reverb for $10,000! It doesn't have MIDI but it did use a DIN jack for syncing( to what?? an Atari? ) . This statment might explain the timing-- "This machine is legendary for a reason. Yes if this if for replication you go to next level. Both Sound Forge and Wave Lab do the DDP creation thing. Ask the replication people what format they require. Some even can use higher quality files like 48/32.

Seems Magix has discontinued the CD Architect software. At least is not easy to find on the web site. I'm a registered user because I have Movie Maker and Sound Forge. If you have an older version it should still run fine on W10. I have lots of vintage music apps that were made for XP that still run. But I've always used Nero. Strangely I just made a tutorial on how to do something like this. There's no magic button. It's a lot of work. And the Melodyne tempo extraction can go haywire on you. I just double clicked the file and it opened in Cakewalk and played sounding actually pretty good with the TTS-1. I just finished my "Album" and I posted the Sound Click link to my Facebook page so my friends and Family could listen if they liked. I was supprised at how many listened to the all the songs in a row. One couple said they opened a bottle of wine and enjoyed the "concert". Another said it reminded them of back when you did buy albums and sat and listened while reading the liner notes. I guess people expect a video on You Tube but making a Good video is much harder than making a Good recording for me. And I can't stand the ones that are just still pictures. What was the point of that. I guess you could make a "liner notes" and post that as the still shot.

I highly recomend you watch some of the first videos in my tutorial series. That will get you going a lot faster. You're probably looping your output to the mixer back. Read the Mackie manual for proper instructions on setting up monitoring the USB channel without it looping back.

Yet another question that got my curiosity. I thought this would be simple. I went to the place I thought I'd find the metronome folder and it was there. I changed the name of a file and opened Cakewalk and the sound I changed was still the same? I then did a search for Ping Hi and I was right in my guess. I found multiple file locations for the Metronome. I opened each one and Renamed the Beep with the folder location. Opened Cakewalk and found the correct folder. which was the most hidded one on the list. ( see #5) Not sure why Cakewalk creates the other folders other than the fact I have Splat and X1 installed. But 7?? Probably yet another bit of old coding that never got deleted. I had to re start Cakewalk to get it to stick on the list.

you didn't supply any information about your gear. Is it a $10 or a $400 USB mike. What is your audio interface, are you switching driver modes?

I did see Motu 24ao mentioned. This uses class compliant drivers. End of story. Looks to me like the 24ao is for a Mac only. Is the OP using a Mac? If it's anything like there other software expect bugs and crashes. I had to stay with Movie Maker 14 as 17 just freezes up on me. But Sound Forge is an old program that seems solid. Sampletude isn't a DAW you hear much about. Troubleshooting is a process of elimination. And stories like this one are proof that I don’t care how powerful your computer is you still need to set up the audio system properly and optimized too. Cakewalk is more intigrated and as we all know it works best when paired with a top quality ASIO driver.

I explain in this video You connect the output of your interface back to an input and re record the signal then zoom in to see if it lines up. You are using the ASIO driver?

Your best bet would’ve to perform a loopback test to make sure your interface is reporting RTL to Cakewalk correctly.

They are super important to your workflow and how you work inside Cakewalk. There are many features that Cakewalk offers that people just totally ignore and carry on. Then one day they discover this feature and a light bulb goes on and they realize what they were missing. While making my tutorials It made me carefully study each little corner of Cakewalk. My workflow is to not use any effects while in the tracking phase of recording. Why would you need them? I try a have a great sounding recording happening without the effects and then start adding them at the mixing stage. At that point it no longer matters if they are resource hogs. I’ve never used PDC. I do use the Global effects bypass if at the mixing phase I find myself re recording a track.

To avoid these issues: 1. Uncheck midi outputs if you are not using hardware 2. Make sure any synths used in the project have midi output disabled. 3. Always select only your controller as the input to the track.

Yes I remember the tape data system. My Roland 505 has it too and we used to load 5 more sequences on set breaks and pray it worked. We are most certainly spoiled now with almost every synth available and mostly for free. The Poly 800 was my bass player back then. When I fried it I replaced it with the Roland MT-32 which set me back $1,500. But I then needed a controller so I also bought a Roland P-200. I must have also purchased my 1st Atari ST that same year. It was literally thousands of bucks back then to play the one man band game.

For a guitar track probably won’t matter but you certainly wouldn’t do this to vocals

It will probably have a terrible noise floor. @Promidi suggestion is the best way as if can take a -40 db track all the way to zero. But best to set it at -8.0 db. Normalize is found in Process. But what mr @bdickens said is the truth.
