  1. I just finally got it to work using the Re call task settings. So it was sort of working just that one detail I missed. I might just have to read the documentation again! But I'm almost there now.
  2. Thanks for that I used the dialogue to delete tasks but I just played with it a little more and now see how I can easily customize each task with the update to currant setting option. The other item I totally didn't know about until I made the tutorial is the view you pull out with the arrow that shows which tracks are soloed or muted. In an effort to keep the video under 20 minutes I removed that but I think I'll add that and this information as well. Still can't get the time selection to stick.
  3. Good to know they are offering to look into it. That seems like top notch support to me. They have the best tutorials I've ever watched as well. There's a lot to learn. Next sale I'm upgrading to Studio so I can do chords.
  4. Did you contact support here.
  5. Don't no why but for me every time I re open the export dialog then choose a task, the Time setting is back to 1:01:000 etc. Possible that if I run the task it changes? haven't tried that. The other item not recalled by tasks is the MP3 meta data always has to be re set.
  6. It's supposed to, Mark mentioned this a while back, But it doesn't work for me. Tried it a few times. And the other problem I found is setting up a Task takes up more time than just making changes to the dialogue. Tasks is a good idea if you want to export in a bunch of different formats all at the same time but after playing with it for a while, I found just using pre sets I had custom made, was faster.
  7. I just released a tutorial on doing exactly all this. # 28 on the list, There are dozens of great free Wave editors and all of them will do top and tails as well as many other chores. Of course the best of the free ones is still Audacity. But You can get older versions of Sound Forge free as well as not really free, but with a nag to buy, Gold Wave which I bought a lifetime license cheap years ago. It's best feature for me is Batch conversion of any audio format to any audio format. But I use that to top and tail MP3 files. I have Wave Lab which is $100 but it never included MP3 encoding. I use that for top and tailing Wave files. But now Cakewalk has the Range selection feature of export I use that. Only gripe is it is not remembered and you have to re set each export. Direct link to You Tube for now, might become dead if I update video--- Using Cakewalks Export -- https://youtu.be/ETBGFp_YRrE
  8. You can't deselect the Magix driver it's one of the pesky garbage drivers I mention in the video. Follow the instructions to remove it using the REG EDIT app as shown in the video. It's important to now have those type of drivers contaminating your audio system. But that said I don't think that would cause the volume issue. That is more to do with the way ASIO works. It bypasses Windows settings more or less. The best place to set the output volume is either you Master bus or the hardware bus faders found often hidden to the right of the bus pane in console view. This sounds more like a playback monitoring stet up issue. For the REG EDIT my Video below I think has better details. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2pnDOC7HEk&t=462s
  9. OK it wasn't clear to me as you mentioned you were using Sonar. And then you also mentioned the RME? I had to read the info a few times and now I see that my comprehension was bad OK,, we have a Midas via a Klark Teknik DN32-LIVE card. We have a new install of Cakewalk by Bandlab. Up to date ASIO driver? Is the driver supplied with the Midas or the KT Card? and is it the latest available that supports the OS used? Have you run Latency Monitor? https://www.resplendence.com/latencymon We will assume the Laptop is capable but you never know what else gets installed after the fact. Always good to check. I have a brand new Motu M4 that results in what you describe as Garbled recordings if I have left Cakewalk running and open the internet or Movie Studio. My Scarlett does not do this, so it's defiantly a driver issue with the Motu and this might be your issue as well. The playback of already recorded material is fine, but any new recordings are garbled. It goes away if I totally reboot computer.
  10. Are you using the latest version of Cakewalk? That it 100 % supported . Your issue sounds like it might be your audio interface. Gear does time out but I’d also be contacting RME and see what they say.
  11. The other options are to freeze the synth. And what I do is export tracks using “Tracks through entire mix” I then use 48/32 and no dithering. This will create a stem for each track I selected including instrument tracks. Watch video #28 for details
  12. The R is the read enabled toggle. As said 2 minutes in this part of the documentation would easily explain how it works.

    Midi Clip PRV

If you highlight only that clip it will be darker than the rest of the notes in the PVR. Also the now time marker will be the same position track and piano roll view so use that to zero in on the note you want to edit
  14. You don’t put Melodyne in an effect bin. You open it as a Regional effect and when finished you render it. You only had your issues because of doing the process in an unorthodox manner See tutorial #27 for correct use of Melodyne
  15. Pretty sure Zoom supplies ASIO drivers now. You should really read the documentation that comes with it for correct set up of the audio. They probably have videos as well.
  16. Cell Network data I think is very pricey compared to Cable or Fiber optic internet. And in my Daughters case, as for many rural people, there’s no cell service for miles around. If you want to use cell network data you can also just make your phone a hot spot.
  17. Latency Monitor is a App you run to test your system https://www.resplendence.com/latencymon
  18. Yep 2 things that keep me out of trouble with recording midi. Always select my controller as the input. And I also only use Overwrite mode. I will use Sound on sound only for adding drum parts. But even then that’s only when I’m confident I can play it through easily with out many errors. Otherwise I’ll create a fresh midi track and then drag it to merge once edited.
  19. I am away from home so I can’t confirm the exact dialogue but the option you used is not what I use to clear the whole automation lane. It’s closer to the bottom and is something like delete everything The whole green line will disappear when used.
  20. That can happen when you use sound on sound or comping mode.
  21. Things you can do Run Latency Monitor and check if your system is OK for audio streaming. Turn off the internet and see what happens 3rd party anti virus?
  22. I actually found your “rant” educational and appreciate the time you took to type it out. We’ve been fighting an almost loosing battle with MS based systems since day one of the release of DAW software. I just get a system running smoothly and hold my breath that it will stay like that for at least a few years so I can get some work done. I am not a computer type nerd, I’m a musician. But I’ve been forced to become a computer nerd if I want to use a PC for studio recording system. PCI cards were the way to go back even 12 years ago. I have a Card Deluxe PCI card and it’s still working fine but the connectivity sucks so it’s playing movies on a spare machine. Only interface I have that’s not supported by W10 is a MAudio fast track pro- no loss. 3 other interfaces have not seen drivers updates for 5-6 years now but are still working great. But it makes me nervous so I bought a Motu which I’m not that impressed with the driver at all. That’s because that company is focusing on Macs. They probably hate writing drivers for Windows, I don’t blame them. Then I feel especially sorry for anyone who tries to use a Windows XP or W7 driver or worse on board audio. Good luck.

Right I knew that there was something I was missing about the midi advanced strips reason for existence. It’s mostly for hardware control. And that said both my Roland and Korg modules respond to standard CC events so I agree with the request that possibly a customized channel strip would be cool. Like remove stuff I would never use to make room for control knobs.
  24. Hitting B toggles the show/hide Browser. So not sure why that isn’t working for you. And definitely workspaces are how you easily manage screen layouts. That’s what they are for, saving your workspace. There might be a way to create keyboard shortcuts for each workspace I’m out of town right now so can’t test. And anything put in the multi dock is just a tab so takes up zero screen space when minimized. I find it is a very well designed system for only one screen. Using D to minimize the multi dock Using I, B and C to hide inspector, Browser and Control bar gives me full screen track view. Double clicking a multi dock tab to open that view full screen. Hitting D to hid it again. And all of these options can be also saved as a Workspace. The day I sat down and carefully mapped out how the skylight interface works was the day my workflow took a quantum leap
