  1. Good by and good luck. Seems there’s always one in a hundred that have multiple issues. Just bad luck I guess. Personaly I would not trust auto save. I just save after an average of 15 minutes or so. Just a long-standing habit. Same goes with any software I use. They all have auto save but experience has taught me not to trust it. Instead of blaming Cakewalk you might want to just change your workflow and carry on.
  2. When this happens to me it’s always a background CPU issue. Run Latency Monitor and see what it says. Turn of your internet etc. Also certain look ahead plug ins can cause this so try global bypassing all effects and see. It should have nothing to do with Audio interfaces. https://www.resplendence.com/latencymon
  3. I was just given a Yamaha piano and it was dead in the middle. I managed to clean it up and it’s working but that octave doesn’t respond the same as the rest now you have to hit it a bit harder. The good news is brands like Yamaha, Roland and Korg all have inexpensive replacement parts for fixing these issues. Just be prepared to remove 150 screws. I made a video about the Yamaha.
  4. Yes you've gotten rid of most of the boom but there's still a rumble in those toms. Are they on there own track or in the overheads? And to my old ears that's the only thing I'm hearing that I would personally deal with, the rest is right on. And the organ was a great idea, fills in the holes and sits in the mix without getting in the way. I totally agree that a " mix Review" form would be a great idea. That would much more help to me too. In a way I like to post songs only to get mix critiques. ( I already know my songs are awesome ) The more ears the better. We get too involved in our own songs sometimes and you can miss things. Not only those extra ears, but some folks here have better monitors than others.
  5. I was going to ask if you had checked the OK button. It should have nothing to do with screen sets.
  6. Yep always a incompatible plug in. And sometimes unexpected. I had a cranky project the other day. All sorts of weird things were happening. Including blank exports, sluggish response. Only “new” plug in was an Izotope widener. Swapped it back to the BT one I always use and since then no more weirdness.
  7. You invest in a proper audio interface
  8. It’s not clear in the documentation about saving the chosen width. Workspaces are global to all projects but experience has taught me they don’t save the narrow strips because every project has different strips. A Workspace will only save the Console views location and size. Screen sets would be what saves the size as they are per project. I personally haven’t used them since Workspaces started. I’m going to try that next time I get a chance because this has always annoyed me too. Reading the documentation just now, I learned something I didn’t know, there’s a toggle to make all tracks narrow in the view menu. I’ve been doing them one at a time for fggn years now. This would be what I need because my workflow has me needing all the tracks wide while working on mix adjustments. But then on the home stretch I’m finished working there and need to drag the buses on screen. I going to see if I can keybind this Or buy one of those wide monitors ?
  9. Yes that what I was hearing. For the style of music it was a bit too bass heavy and not clear. I should listen again in my studio but at this moment I’m laying on a gurney in the hospital after a hernia surgery. What I’d do is play the track with Span on a master bus and look at the frequency spectrum. Compare that to a song you admire
  10. Absolutely the time based export can work fine and I use it a lot for MP3 exports where these are not as critical.
  11. The problem with top and tails in Cakewalk using the export dialogue is you can’t preview it. That’s the deal breaker for me. Assembly of an album is different than one offs. I have very specific timing I want depending on the tempo of the music. A lot of the ideas posted above are just way too much work compared to what I do in way less time. That time adds up when dealing with 20 songs . And what @Kalle Rantaaho said about midi instruments is definitely important. Yes you can draw an envelope on the Master bus. This is almost always needed for midi instruments because you don’t seem to be able to add a fade like you can on each audio track. But for me because I’ll be topping and tailing with the wave editor it’s much quicker to deal with it there. I also use Wave lab to check peak, RMS levels as well as it will look for digital errors.
  12. The export doesn’t convert? It exports as an MP3. From the preset menu choose Entire mix MP3
  13. That’s what works for me. I use a Roland A 49 and it’s very responsive so I try my best to play the parts live and then I edit to taste. Over time my chops on the keyboard have most certainly improved.
  14. Be careful with timing randomizing. Actually good musicians have very perfect timing. So there is nothing inhuman about placing notes where they belong. But it's more about the "feel" which is all about how the instrument responds to velocity and after touch.
  15. @msmcleod You might be onto something. I switched over to using a Motu M4 over a year ago. I’ve been working on about 15 original songs. Most the vocals were recorded via a Scarlett 6i6. I hear little mistakes so I redo them which requires using the Motu. The sound quality is noticeably different, grainy and sort of? Well I’m not happy. Is my voice changing? Is my Beta 58 crapping out? Or is this the Motu pre amps? Long story but here’s my favourite pre amp experience. When I used a Yamaha MD 8 as my studio I fried one of the pre amps by using a 1/4 input when the phantom power was on. I was a Yamaha dealer at that time and had direct access to the repair guy in Ontario. He told me to send it in and he would replace the 2 pre amps with the ones out of their flagship mixers. He explained they had 3 quality’s of pre amps. The MD8 used the cheapest ones. He explained this is by design if you are trying to produce a product at a certain price point. The $15 -$30 ? difference adds up on a 24 channel board. I still have tracks from that machine and I’ve never had that quality since. My OV1 apparently has the mid grade pre amps even though it was a $2,500 board. I think most people are aware of the proverb “ You get what you pay for”. And for the most part this applies to audio equipment. I would expect my Motu has cheapest pre amps they could score to keep the price competitive.

Great mix and groove. Love that fretless( is it real? ) and the unison parts.
  17. Totally not a style of music I ever listen to but I just had to so I could listen to Bit's keyboard playing! ?
  18. Wow, that's exactly what I've been trying to get my Grandson doing. He's been making comic books since he was 6. Wild Willy. He made a comic for my Video Mr Clam. I struggled with trying to animate his drawings. Anyhow great job! It's not often I listen to a whole song but that's why using a great video is the ticket! Oh, and I actually enjoyed the song too.
  19. All the above ? Refreshingly pleasing. Far from simple arrangement.
  20. Big thumbs up from me. Great guitar solo! Only comment, and it just might my Mackie Monitors but there's a lot of low end. Like the Kick is massive ( not a bad thing) and the Toms Rumble ( also might have been the goal) Otherwise you totally captured the Country Rock vibe.
  21. Seems you solved this but just to follow up on my post I had no problem freezing my Arturia synth. It seems to be a heavy load as the project I put in on is sluggish.

    no master

I agree best you do a little learning first these things are basic and easy to get help with
  23. The interfaces under $100 are a waste of money. Most I’m aware of don’t come with proper ASIO drivers. This guy did a shoot out of low cost interfaces and the Prosonus had the most features for the money the Scarlett solo came in second
  24. You don't require input echo for playback. Only recording to the track. Best way to trouble shoot is open the GUI for the drum VST and play the kit with the mouse. If you can hear it then it's working fine. You don't have much midi data there but it should play that short clip. Also make sure all volume controls are set. Here's a whole series of tutorials on how to set up Cakewalk.
