  1. It was free a little while ago, so you might have grabbed it then. That's when I did. I haven't actually installed it yet but I did see some half decent reviews of it, so I had intended on checking it out. At least I'll be starting with the updated version now.. Haha..
  2. I was almost 100% certain someone would say that! Haha... That's another one that seems to have been very well received. I have a feeling I will end up buying that at some stage ?
  3. They really are, aren't they John?! The only two paid ones I don't own are SDRR and TENS. I am tempted by SDRR, although I definitely don't need it. If they had a demo I'd probably end up buying it anyway, but I'm not sure if it adds enough unique features / sound to make it worthwhile. If I didn't own a bunch of great saturation, then it would be a complete no brainer at all.
  4. Klanghelm DC8C advanced compressor Klanghelm never have sales, but I just grabbed this the other day and love it. The expert mode has controls for shaping just about everything and it has saturation that you can add pre compression, or post, or sidechain only. You can use it in basic mode too, but expert is deep like Unisum, or TDR Kotelnikov, but for some reason seems easier, or more fluid to dial in the right compression. I can see this one being a go to compressor for me ? Introducing DC8C DC8C is one of the most flexible compressors around. While making a lot of different compression styles possible, it's general nature may be described as: clear, smooth, open, distinct. The main goal while designing DC8C was to get a very clean compressor action without unwanted and often almost inevitable artifacts/distortion. This way you can achieve almost invisible compression for your most demanding mastering sessions, when you want to avoid coloration. If you aim for color you can choose between two saturation models. From opto-style, peak compression, external side-chaining, RMS compression, Feedback, Feedforward compression (and everything in-between) to negative ratios, zero latency brick-wall limiting, from snappy transient treatment to smooth transient rounding - everything is possible. DC8C is available in the following formats (all included in a single license): Windows (64bit): VST, VST3, AAX Native for ProTools® 11 or higher macOS: AU, VST, VST3, AAX Native for ProTools® 11 or higher https://klanghelm.com/contents/products/DC8C
  5. Hi Ninja, Sub Ninja version 1.1.0 has just been released. This update includes new features and improvements. Here are some of the highlights: - Sidechain inputs: route tracks directly into Sub Ninja to see even more detail - Performance improvements: run multiple instances and save on CPU - Manual delay offset: sync Sub Ninja manually if needed - Bug fixes and small improvements You can download the new version here: https://dsp.thehim.com/downloads
  6. What do you mean? Of course there's a link.. now Haha.. Thanks for letting me know Mibby!
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if he was just avoiding the forum until they sort out some of the stability and bug issues it's had lately. With all the deals he posts, having to redo some of them when they have site issues would get on your nerves.
  8. I was trying to work that out before. Very well regarded it seems, but they might be a little dated. But if they weren't, then we likely wouldn't be seeing this kind of discount. Apparently they were recently updated to VST3, but I'd download a demo first to make sure if you're thinking of buying as they don't state that clearly in their specs. People have definitely raved over some of these over the years including mastering engineers.

  12. That makes sense. I hadn't heard too many complaints about their stuff at all, although I do see where you're coming from with submenus. They can suck in general on synths and other hardware. You can get some desktop editors for some of them, but the nice thing about hardware is getting away from the screens. At least you were able to return them OK.
  13. This story checks out ? They seem a bit more all over the place of late.. some cheap prices as a bonus, but they do seem like they're making it up as they go!
  14. I wouldn't at all be surprised if it's free with purchase over x amount at the Black Friday sales later this year at Best Service. That's how I got it. I really quite enjoy it, but free is better! ?
  15. Thanks Burtles Sounds like they killed the vouchers now compared to what they were.. before there was no minimum on them and they stacked, so that's handy to know. That being the case, you could probably just add another plugin to the order for $49 at worst, but then you get something different in addition. Still not quite as good as it could've been though. Thanks for confirming Studer! I haven't installed Luna yet, but have been planning on giving it a run in the next week or so. Great idea with the 2 for $76. That might even be an option down the track to stack with a thank you and buy the API Preamp at the same time in an upcoming sale. I know leading up to BF last year they had a month or two of sales in a row with similar offers.
  16. If you're quick you can use the code ACAD5024 and get the upgrade for $26
  17. Don't you normally get a $25 thank you for every plugin you purchase as long as you buy them a day apart or so? I have always in the past, but I haven't bought a UA plugin in ages. With the APIs the only ones missing is the preamp (and extension) and API Summing. From what UA states, buy them and bam, you got the API extensions. https://uadforum.com/community/index.php?threads/its-here-luna-for-windows-q-a-with-connor-from-ua.71429/post-532018 Radek Stanisz said: UniversalAudio It's possible it's only the new tape that includes the extension, but here Connor from UA answers it for ATR-102: https://uadforum.com/community/index.php?threads/its-here-luna-for-windows-q-a-with-connor-from-ua.71429/post-527615 UA_User said: Connor from UA The A800 states this on the page where you buy it. No mention of needing to buy Luna Pro. This might just be how they worded it though, but it sounds like it should be include. Use the Studer A800 LUNA Extension to easily add warmth to your entire mix on a per channel basis
  18. If they add Neve Summing, or other plugins that could be a winner. Still a lot of us have most of them from their Signature bundle and I wonder if it works about better to just buy the missing ones. Luna Pro includes: Ampex ATR-102 Master Tape Machine & LUNA Extension API 2500 Bus Compressor & LUNA Extension API Preamp API Summing LUNA Extension API Vision Channel Strip & LUNA Extension Century Tube Channel Strip Galaxy Tape Echo Oxide Tape Recorder Polymax Pultec Passive EQ Collection Pure Plate Reverb Studer A800 Tape Recorder & LUNA Extension Teletronix LA-2A Leveler Collection The only ones needed are: Ampex ATR-102 Master Tape Machine & LUNA Extension API Preamp API Summing LUNA Extension The extension part is a bit unclear, but my understanding is that both the tapes include the extensions. Once you have all the components of the APIs you have the extension. It would be nice to confirm that. If that was the case, then if you could buy them in the following order and you can still combine the vouchers, you should be able to get Pro equivalent for $137 or less if the API Summing is discounted further (and my math is correct ?) Week 1 Buy ATR-102 for $39 ($89 minus weekly $50 and get $25 thank you back) Buy API Preamp for $24 ($49 Sale Price - $25 Thankyou and get $25 thank you back) Week 2 Buy API Summing LUNA Extension for $74 ($149 - $50 weekly voucher minus $25 thankyou) You would also get a $25 thank you voucher back, but from a Luna perspective, we would have Pro at this stage.
  19. Yeah that would be a bit better at least. That's part of my reluctance to buy Luna Pro. I think some of those plugs it would take me up to 3 or 4 licenses.. their model seems to be just keep buying the same plugin over and over and never be able to sell and get any costs back ?
  20. Yes and no for me Zo.. If you do a 12dB boost on the high shelf on one EQ and a 1dB boost on the high shelf on another, but matching phase, it will sound dramatically different to both having a 12dB boost with different phase. I do think checking for the phase is good though. I have had some EQs where the curves match and they should sound the same by curve alone, but they don't. Both good checks, but I'd say curves most important, phase lesser but still good to check.
  21. I found that too and Ruletec has always been up there in my favourites for Pultecs.
  22. Definitely agreed. If I was just starting to buy plugins now, I'd be all over it. But I have a stack of tape emulations, some I really love so there's no real need, or nothing that can't be achieved without it. I'm more looking opportunistically because I just think it might be OK to grab. So waiting is really no issue. I'm still not sure if be totally happy with UA if I paid $10K or more before their new pricing and now everyone else only paid under $200. I wouldn't have paid their excessive prices though and wouldn't have bought one of their interfaces, or done subscription, but once they went native and put some of their bundles on sale, they were a bit of a no-brainer.
  23. The thing I've learnt with UA, is it pretty much never pays to buy early.. I have been toying with the idea of Luna Pro, but then I own most of the plugins in there apart from the API pres and a couple of others. A little on the fence as to what would work out cheaper, buying individually with a $25 thank you each time shaving off the price of successive purchases, or grab the bundle. But knowing UA, there will be a Luna Signature Platinum bundle or something they will release that will include even more and be cheaper again ? I am intrigued about giving the ATR-102 a demo, but I think I'll sit back and wait to see how Black Friday pans out for either Luna, or the tape.
  24. Me neither, I'm very much the rookie when it comes to Plugin Doctor.. ? But I love using it to see what sort of curves etc some of my favourite, or raved about EQs use. It's quite an eye opener and not a bad learning tool. Sometimes I'm hearing something I think is happening and then it's useful to check if the plugin does work that way too. Thanks for you post too, lots of great comparisons and opening up Pulse-Tec V2 let me know there was an update, so that I just installed that as well
