4TB Samsung 990 Pro PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe Internal SSD for $299.99
MusicMan replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
I have just started looking into these for a new system build. Trying to decide on system drive and library / sample drive. Reliability is my top consideration, but definitely want something that performs well too. Only really looking at 4TB or 2TB these days. These seem reasonably well regarded. Any downsides, or alternatives to consider? (will look into the Crucial mentioned by Barrie too) -
Audio Damage Independence Day Sale (Exclusive) - ODC for $45

Great delay and even better on copy protection. These guys are solid -
If you use any Kontakt Instruments, it's really not much different. To use a single Kontakt instrument, you need to install 3 applications. You need Native Access (Download Manager) to install it, Kontakt Player (Or Full) to run it and the library itself for inside Kontakt. The libraries are often much larger than 2GB as well. It's pretty common with anything that uses samples, or wavetables, so that's pretty unavoidable if they do. Quite a few Devs will also have their own downloader for Kontakt Instruments. This is often required above Native Access. This would install the activation app, which could really be combined with the download manager and you would get one extra app which is to manage the libraries. More relevant if you were going to be installing more Halion libraries. 1 or 2 extra apps that run on demand only and the size doesn't really seem like much of an issue if it sounds good. I've installed it, but haven't tried it yet, so I can't comment on sound, but it's not much different to Kontakt. It just seems like more if its the first Halion instrument you're installing.

Do you mean with their downloader? Or just in the list on the download page? -
Cymatics - Limited Time: Download 50 Premium Sample Packs for FREE!
MusicMan replied to audioschmaudio's topic in Deals
You can still go to Downloads anyway after ordering. So I don't think it's actually required. A lot of the sample packs are repeat freebies though, so people might already have these. -
Waves v15 is here, celebrated by another 25% off WUP.
MusicMan replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
I always thought that's why they made the upgrades to the next bundle so cheap.. so they lock you out of individual and cheap WUP for single plugins. -
But it's Baby Audio and not PA plugins. Being PA EXT wouldn't they just be redeem codes at Baby Audio? If not, from Plugin Boutique there's no serial for them they just provide installer don't they?
-
That's my recollection too.. I don't even install them any more, but I still claim them just in case there's a hidden gem in there ?

I read that same thing and then stumbled onto another thread where someone explained it. I've always left a gap often the next day for the second buy if I can and never not received a voucher.

APD Deal: Rave Generator 3 by Audio Blast - 82% Off
MusicMan replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
I bought their 303 and then that went for lower a while later. But I had it to enjoy and use during that time before then and it was still fairly cheap on sale. $29 for this isn't a terrible price all things considered, so buying it now isn't bad. It's just knowing it will drop that makes me pause with ones like this. The original was quite fun at times and that alone is sometimes worth it ? -
That's a pretty good point really. I'd forgotten it was them behind it. I did buy the Integral Studio Pack III at a crazy discount based on that premise. They're taking a while, but they have updated some of them and I think a lot of the time was just getting their new framework for them ironed out. So the rest should start trickling in and they can probably reuse a lot of that framework code for these too.

That's a shame.. no VST3 makes them a non starter for me.

APD Deal: Rave Generator 3 by Audio Blast - 82% Off
MusicMan replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
I think the sale price should be the norm and wouldn't surprise me if they at least heavily revise their RRP in future. Their RRP was over the top for what it was and I'd be amazed if they sold a lot at that price. I wouldn't be in any hurry to jump at this sale price unless someone really needs it, as I'd be amazed if it doesn't end up lower in future sales. -
How long between successive purchases did you wait? I believe for their systems it was advised to wait an hour, or four hours or something from memory, otherwise it doesn't recognise them as two seperate orders.

Bring out your dead... This freebie has done too many rounds.. no incentive at all to buy a product to get it! It's an OK freebie though and still thanks for sharing

u-he Diva + FREE Expansion Sale (Exclusive) for $179 (again)

Any word on new Zebra release date yet? I had been thinking about that one.. Zebra 2 / Legacy is a good price (and product), but I'm intrigued to see the next version. -
u-he Diva + FREE Expansion Sale (Exclusive) for $179 (again)
MusicMan replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
I bought most (all?) of my u-he during one of the regular NI sales of them and then the pricing mistake NI sale where they made almost everything 60% off by mistake! That was up there with some of my speediest purchases to date too ? -
u-he Diva + FREE Expansion Sale (Exclusive) for $179 (again)
MusicMan replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
I do love Diva, but that is a really bad sale offer.. ? -
That's handy to know. The downloads aren't small! I don't mind if they're worthwhile, but if they're not then happy to skip them. PowerStrings is now installed
-
That's what I bought. I still haven't downloaded all the drums yet though (Studio2008 - 2018) and DrumEmpire2020 and I thought I had already just installed it, but I just scrolled down in their downloader and found I haven't installed PowerStrings yet apparently! ?

It doesn't necessarily need to be better than those ones, just on par so that it's worth the time cycling through them when I'm looking for the best fit. If I always choose one of the others then it's not much use. But if it's very CPU efficient then it might still be an option for limiting tracks, or busses. Depending on the latency. I currently use DMG TrackLimit for that which is great, but not always the right fit. I hadn't been thinking about individual tracks. Sounds like it's worth giving it a demo. I prefer dynamics in general too. But some genres call for it and with others you just need to get it into the same ballpark for it to sit well. It would be much better if the loudness wars were actually over across the board.

Thanks Erik! Out of curiosity, what other limiters are in your kit that you like as well these days? And I was reading a comment by you a while back where I think you mentioned that MDynamics covers all of this as well, although not as tailored specifically to Limiting. I checked out their page and they only seem to mention the safety limiter for that one. Does the MDynamics cover all the dynamics needs and this is just more convenient, or has that changed?
