Swapping Plugins on the same track

So far, I've only replaced an instrument used on a track for one from the same plugin (Spitfire LABS for example).

I'm trying to replace an instrument with one from a different plugin than the original one.

But, if I do 'insert instrument', on the instrument icon, it opens up a new track - and I'm trying to use the existing track, because the notes are on it.

Advice is welcome on how to do this, please.

Right click on the track, and choose "Replace Synth..." from the context menu.

Insert the new instrument and just copy/paste the midi track to the new one.

Thank you @Andres Medina and @msmcleod It took me a while but I eventually found 'replace synth'. I need to brush up on my RTFM and right-click skills.
