Interested in CLAP, so far in the dev builds the performance was not much different from VST3

The performance optimizations of CLAP are deemed to be "collaborative".

https://www.bitwig.com/stories/clap-the-new-audio-plug-in-standard-201/

"Developed with modern CPUs in mind, CLAP takes multi-thread management to a new level, with a clear and efficient allocation of roles between plug-in and host. Specifically, CLAP allows collaborative multicore support between plug-in and host through a so-called “thread-pool”, also allowing hosts to manage CPU-threading for plug-ins that provide their own multicore support."

So dev support would need to come from both ends. It's probably not going to be an overnight process, rather an evolutionary process, requiring both parties to get aboard. Just putting a new plug-in format out there wouldn't necessarily change the existing code used by the underlying plug-ins or hosts.

Also note that it was "Developed with modern CPUs in mind". This new CLAP format most likely won't make old hardware run any better. 🤔
