  1. I have almost all the OTS and a few by Ample Sound, but I strongly recommend Indiginus guitars too. They have a unique take and are very reasonably priced.
  2. Wavesfactory has put a ton of thought into this. They've really tried to make it unique and great. I truly don't understand why they didn't let users re-assign the placement of keyswitches. This is a pretty standard feature. Yes, I've played guitar for 50 years and I can strum with my right and play the chords with my left hand. I imagine it would be very hard to strum with my left and chord with my right. And if somebody created a guitar that I had to play like that I wouldn't buy it. Life is too short. 😡 So why create a virtual instrument and make it all topsy-turvy like that? Seriously I would like to see somebody from Wavesfactory play this freaking thing. And if any of you think I'm wrong, make a video of you being a guitar hero with this. You must be real keyboard aces, leaving even Simeon in the dust. I've sent a note to Wavesfactory to see what they say about adding a feature where you can move the key switches in a future update. 👍 Certainly, I could re-map the keyswitches right within Cubase. And I could create a template within Komplete Kontrol so everything would be easy to see. But you know... it's kind of their job to make their instruments playable out of the box--so I can buy them. 🤔 I am ready to buy this today. If only it was a crap product then I wouldn't be upset. But it really looks great.
  3. First, @Simeon Amburgey agrees with me???? He can play anything. That makes me feel better. The Funk Guitar allows you to assign chords to keys that you play with one finger.of your left hand, That's easy . And a very common way to do things. But I can't play a D13 with my left hand. Or a D7 (b95). Can you? For some chords I actually use two hands to make them easier to play That works fine if the key switches for the pattern players stick in place. SugarBytes Guitarist works exactly the same way. Assign chords to one key. Many guitar VIs have one-note features of various kinds, including Indiginus and Native Instruments. Yes, exactly. When I play piano, I always play melodies and chords with my right hand, and the best I can do with my left hand. Sometimes this is a complex pattern and sometimes it's just bass notes. If I was Simeon, I would do a lot more! But the great thing about something like the ujam basses is that I can hit just one note on my left and it auto-generates an interesting bass part. But I am willing to believe there are other virtual instruments out there with horrible UIs like this. Maybe even Wavesfactory sells some of them. But I am disappointed becauase I love Wavesfactory, and if they had designed this in a more typical way, it would be downloaded now and I'd be playing it. I had to find the video for the Funk Guitarist, because it's not currently installed on my computer. If I don't use a Komplete instrument I always take it off so I can get the hard drive space back. So I'm guessing it wasn't my favorite thing--or maybe I'm just not funky! 😀
  4. There is one thing about this that IMHO is insanely, insanely, insanely awful. You can only play the chords with your left hand. It is the only guitar instrument that works like that. ujam doesn't work like that. NI doesn't work like that. It may be the only virtual instrument of any kind that works like this. Most piano players play chords with their right hand and bass lines with their left. Unless they are extremely well trained, they don't have equal facility with both hands. So this means that for most of their users every single guitar VI will be easier to play than this This will be dead last. I watched the video praying that the settings would allow you to reassign the keyswitches. Unfortunately not. That said, I will probably buy it but I don't know why Wavesfactory has this blindness to the way pianos are played. I'm going to write them. If they would simply allow the key switches to be moved it looks like the best strummer on the market.
  5. I have purchased four of these 1 TB drives over the years. In my experience paying around $100 is pretty standard, if you wait for sales. Just about any brand, including top-rated Samsung to ADATA and solid Crucial ones are regularly in the $100 to $120 range and often cheaper than that. Installing them depends on your motherboard. With mine, there are two slots for directly attaching NVme drives to the board itself. The manual states exactly which SATA drives are lost when I install a NVme in each spot. When I installed both, I lost four SATA connectors. Your motherboard may be different. After that I installed cards in two PCie slots, each of which allow for a fast M2 drive and a SATA one. The fast drive doesn't need a SATA connection but of course the SATA one does. A SATA M2 drive is no different than a regular SSD, it's just has the chewing gum shape. What I did was install an inexpensive card in an empty PCIe slot that has six more SATA connectors. I'm still putting 7200 drives in my computer too. I have 4 NVme drives now, and I think that's all I'm going to be able to do internally. Externally is another story.
  6. Thank you, Michael. I would get this now, but I have my hands full now, as I got this Freak Music set, a lot of Sound Pools, In addition to the libraries I bought above from Ghosthack, I got two more in their 3 for 2 sale. I really like this Ultimate Percussion Library and it has a ton of stuff, including middle eastern percussion: https://www.ghosthack.de/ultimate-percussion-library/ My third choice was this Abstract Percussions library: https://www.ghosthack.de/abstract-percussions/ They have a part two to this, but it costs twice as much. I will definitely be watching for more sales and buying more from Ghosthack. But I will get the freebies from Odd Grooves, so that I can get on their mailing list. Randomization features in Ableton 11? I haven't updated in years. Hmmmm...
  7. I got this. I haven't had time to explore it all, but I think it's really good. I've been looking hard for drums for ambient music and this really fits the bill.. This is another great deal from Ghosthack: https://www.ghosthack.de/ultimate-ambient-bundle/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw-LOEBhDCARIsABrC0TmTqrookkGeyZ9GtwY3PaRP0vR5Q_ElZZ9sfgAFII3kDxu08JSOhF0aAkvrEALw_wcB They also have some excellent percussion libraries.
  8. I'm happy that they are quickly bringing out so many MIDI packs. This will increase our choices if they ever decide to sell 6-packs.
  9. This is a good deal, but they often come in bigger packs for not too much money. So if you can afford to wait for Black Friday, you may be able to get most, if not all of them. But this is certainly well worth 19 euros and will make you want the others... I'm hoping that Audiofier will do an acoustic set of Riffendium someday.
  10. A long, long time ago I used to use ACID and Ableton a lot to build songs out of other people's loops. And then I just stopped. Although I used tools like BIAB, for the most part I just got libraries and played my music in. The recent promo on Magix Sound Pools has got me back in. I do a lot of ambient music and it occurred to me that it's useful to have some drum loops and other ideas to get a piece started. Even to find out what other people think "ambient" or "chill-out" is. So I became obsessed with getting as many free ones as possible. Seeing as how those are $20 for commercial use, this looks to me like quite a good deal. I am very optimistic I'll find something in there. Stuff like this is easy to pull into Kontakt and Falcon, and make playable instruments.
  11. It's cool. It works really well.
  12. Definitely get the cab, @abacab
  13. I'm really enjoying Music Maker and look forward to picking up some Sound Pools. There's one problem. It has crashed my computer twice, My computer shuts completely down and I get the blue screen of death. Bad Pool Caller. This has never happened before and it's twice since I installed this. So I looked online and found out that many have this problem--at least in Windows 10 and with earlier versions. Apparently it is particularly hard to use it as an actual DAW and add your own recording, something I would never do. Do any of you have crashing issues with Music Maker?
  14. I used the second voucher from the Fanatical bundle to unlock unlimited tracks and it worked. Glad I waited to use these. I've got 9 coupons now and will try again in a few days. Plus the three Soundpool vouchers that came with Score Edition and the several that came with Samplitude. There were some fun ones, like Game of Tones, included in there.
  15. Yes I was. But paying $4 for a $24 commercial sound effects library is pretty great.
  16. Sounds good, but just like Magix to have us grovel to turn off something that shouldn't be there to start with. 🥵
  17. It is significant that this deal is for Producer Planet and not limited to buying through Music Maker. And with the multiple purchases this is very interesting for my commercial sound effects collection. Thanks for the tip. @Eusebio Rufian-Zilbermann I don't see the deal on Producer Planet for $20. Maybe I missed it? Well, maybe it will come again someday. I didn't know you could get the Songmaker for a voucher plus $10. That's cool. It's worth another $10 to screw around with that.
  18. The Saxophone is one of the hardest instruments to make into a virtual instrument. Short of hiring a real sax player, using Band-in-a-Box just might be your best option for getting a realistic saxophone solo for your song. After all it is real recordings of session musicans playing along with the chords to your song. However there is a big problem. While the recordings are real, the stitching together of the solos is done by a computer algorithm. An excellent algorithm, but still an algorithm. You may not always be thrilled with the result. This is how I get BIAB to do what I want it to. This works of course with any BIAB soloist. I use Cubase to demonstrate, but it would work the same way with any DAW that has a comping feature, which I believe includes Cakewalk.
  19. I think last time this came up on APD it was just Cristina Soto and Arctic Chill for $23.95. I almost bought it then, but I'm glad I waited.
  20. Relax everybody. This is InMusic, the marketing geniuses who have taken the SONiVOX and AIR Technology brands to the heights of the industry. Be patient. You'll soon be able to get BFD for $2.99 at Plugin Boutique. 😀 or maybe fish out some serials out of a bin at K-Mart.
  21. Just so everybody knows... To be clear, I have confirmed that no serial number for Music Maker comes with this deal. It's the free version. So no Song Maker. While there are a number of Sound Pools that come with Samplitude, they don't turn up in Music Maker when I put them in the folder with the others. Even the Sound Pool that came with the program doesn't load up now. Only the free ones I got from the store. If you buy the current version of Music Maker, all codes will no longer work. So you need to use these codes now before upgrading to a future version. Finally, in the grand old tradition of MAGIX, even though I only loaded up Music Maker a few times, it crashed my computer. Hopefully I can get some use out of the other programs. I'll try out the Audio Cleaning Kit for my video narrations. But I doubt it will be better than RX7, which doesn't crash my computer. After my nightmares with Vegas, I think I just might be done with MAGIX, although I admit I am still curious about Song Maker.
  22. What I have is Music Maker Free, which is the software they give out for free on the site. It does not have the Song Maker Feature. In fairness, Fanatical doesn't say that it does. They're giving you the free one plus store credit. So I guess at this point I just want to find out how I can get my hands on those coupons and maybe buy some sound effects. Otherwise I'm out ten bucks. I don't really need the other stuff. Maybe I will find a use for Samplitude Music Studio. @Eusebio Rufian-Zilbermann Do you know how I can get the credits from my serial numbers?
  23. I bought it, but haven't been able to install it. It came with serial numbers for Music Maker Coupon 1 and Music Maker Coupon 2. These serial numbers begin with G3 Music Maker kept asking for my serial number, but it needs a serial number that starts with P3. All the other serial numbers from Magix in this bundle start with P3. These two G3 coupon serial numbers were not accepted on the Magix site either. I'm guessing that you can redeem them within Music Maker after you register it. But I had no luck with that. Any advice for me? I left a note in their forum because I've never had any luck with service from Magix on anything.
  24. True. In fact I used a Magix "freebie" as an example in my video.. But they do sell commercial rights for more $$$. Their two cartoon effect sets are $9.99 each for non-commercial and then $29.99 for commercial. Still very cheap compared to commercial effects packages on other sites. But there are no demos and they don't even say how many files are included. Still $10 for $40 in the store might be a good deal. I'm going to get it and see. The Song Maker looks like a lot of fun.
