  1. I understand Wormhole, but did they think it was Chris Heiney's Solo Violin?
  2. Where is the engineer who puts candy in the boxes?
  3. I think this is a pretty good price for Fog Convolver. I don't know if it's been cheaper, maybe somebody else does. This is the video that got me interested in it.
  4. Thanks so much @Dorondon I'm so glad I posted. Definitely going to pick up that MIDI package for 99 cents. I appreciate the info about MixCraft.
  5. Thinking about this... In addition to the things people have mentioned, there are a lot of interesting music-oriented foley that I think would work great with XO--Office, Kitchen Things, Trash, Industrial Complex, Human Body. Sounds of Mexico City. "Frightening Sounds" seems very interesting, but more for film sound design than music. Also, there is a $40 Orchestral MIDI library I have been looking at from Soundtrack Loops, so the $25 voucher could be interesting, depending on how long it lasts and whether they let you use it during a sale. At list price the voucher isn't much of a help, because this goes down to $15 or $20 during a sale. So my question is: is Mixcraft 9 the kind of DAW that loads really fast? For when I don't have the patience to load up Cubase? I use Unify for this, but some things don't load in it, like Emvoice One. Is Mixcraft Home Studio 8 more useful for this? Can you load VSTs in it? Maybe I should just install Cakewalk in my computer again? 😄 I had Sonar in my old computer and never put it in my new music computer.
  6. I'm wondering if they will integrate iZotope into NI products someday. Like maybe incorporate some of their reverbs, plus stuff like Trash, and Vinyl, and mastering plugins into Kontakt and Guitar Rig It's also possible that, in addition to a Komplete 14 Ultimate CE, there will be a Komplete Ultimate CE +Mix and Master Advanced. The only thing that NI needs to do now to keep on the path of incomplete Komplete .is to buy an existing DAW. That would really be useful way to put together everything iZotope and the existing NI audio plugins. And it could be the first DAW that comes with NKS integration, whatever that might mean.
  7. I got it wrong. Native Instruments sure doesn't make this easy. There should just be a "New" Section that is accurate. I have no idea if I have listed all the new expansions. I suppose the only way to have a real list is to keep track as things are released. ACTION STRINGS 2 ASHLIGHT GLAZE (Play) MELTED VIBES (Play) PIANO COLORS PLAYBOX SEQUIS SOUL SESSIONS (Play) SPOTLIGHT COLLECTION EAST ASIA STACKS (Play) SESSION BASSIST – PRIME BASS SESSION GUITARIST- ELECTRIC VINTAGE SESSION GUITARIST – PICKED NYLON EXPANSIONS: (I'm not sure about these at all) LUNAR ECHOES, SATIN LOOKS, RHYTHM SOURCE, BURNT HUES, ELECTRIC TOUCH, BACKYARD JAMS, SACRED FUTURES, BUMPIN FLAVA, HAZE, BOUNCE, QUEST, OUR HOUSE, TRILL RAYS, BODY MECHANIC, NEO BOOGIE, SOUL MAGIC, LIQUID ENERGY, CRATE CUTS, CERTIFIED GOLD
  8. As best as I can remember, this is what will be new in K14UCE. Did I leave anything out? ACTION STRINGS 2 ASHLIGHT GLAZE PIANO COLORS PLAYBOX SEQUIS SPOTLIGHT COLLECTION EAST ASIA STACKS SESSION BASSIST – PRIME BASS SESSION GUITARIST- ELECTRIC VINTAGE SESSION GUITARIST – PICKED NYLON EXPANSIONS: SATIN LOOKS, RHYTHM SOURCE, BURNT HUES, ELECTRIC TOUCH, BACKYARD JAMS, BUMPIN FLAVA, MELTED VIBES, LUNAR ECHOES But definitely more coming... For me, the strongest part of this is the three Session Guitarist Libraries and the East Asia Collection. I do own and like Piano Colors (going to sell when I upgrade) But I guess it depends on what kind of music you make. Others may be more excited by Action Strings 2 and Sequis.
  9. Well, if Komplete 14 follows what happened with Komplete 10, 11, 12, and 13... then it will come out by early fall of this year--probably August or September. One of the versions will include EVERY instrument or library that NI officially released after Komplete 13, and many new expansions. All these libraries might be in CE, or maybe this year will be CE Ultimate Ultimate Ultimate. But it's not going to all be in Ultimate. Based on previous years, expect a lot of new libraries to come out between now and then, all of which will be included And then there will be a half price sale in spring/summer 2023. That's the way it's been in the past, but who knows what will happen this year. I expect that they will still sell Komplete, but they may also offer a subscription similar to the one EastWest has, so you can get everything as it comes out.
  10. Thank you for the heads-up on this. I will try it out on my next video.
  11. It's very weird to me, because old ProjectSam is better than a lot of new libraries. The samples stand the test of time, and I liked so much that they provide free updates to Symphobia 1 and True Strike 1 (with Symphobia 2 coming) I would absolutely have paid more for True Strike 2 if they updated it. Have to figure out what I'll do. And they don't give a lot of time.
  12. No new XO expansions... 😪
  13. I think Indiginus also belongs on the list of the top guitars.
  14. Oh... I was hoping that True Strike 2 might get the new user interface of True Strike 1.
  15. I really like the way Evolution is pricing these things. So cheap. I got them in the $175 deal and they are all more than "worth" $99. For me, their vocal library, Bronte, is one of my favorite purchases ever, a classic on the level of Bohemian Violin or Tina Guo Legato. I've used it on three recent music videos since I got it in December. They would have sold tons of them at $99, but they sold it for $34.50, keeping the prices in the vicinity of the Spitfire $29 libraries. I believe the idea is for people to get any one of them as an impulse buy, and then buy more, as they all essentially work the same way. Or... you could just download their free Clar-Duduk.
  16. The bundle price for these two is $199, as they say. But each one is $119 separately, so another way to look at it is this is essentially a 20% discount on one, plus the second one free. Definitely a good deal if you have any interest in either the banjo or uke.
  17. No, I won't post my videos anywhere on Cakewalk anymore. It's not a big deal. If anybody wants to support my channel, just go there. If you have something to say, then comment there--or DM me. Or you can go to VI:Control. If Carl wants to go there and try to get me taken down, good luck to him, because Mike Greene likes what I have done for the forum and likes my video. 😃 My thanks to all of my friends here who have helped me improve the videos. All the best, Reid
  18. First, thank you @PavlovsCat for your kind defense. Carl, I think if you give a fair look at this forum, you will see that it is about a lot more than "deals." Yes, people (mostly King Larry) post deals and sometimes somebody else points out a lower price. But we also discuss all manner of things, from which instrument is the best, to our careers, to the business practices of companies, and many other things. It starts with deals and can go all over the map. And if you come to the forum a lot, you will see headlines marked "not a deal." This is literally a deals forum, but it is also where a group of people regularly congregate to talk with people we have come to know. This is a place we like to go and we trust what the others have to say. Some people helpfully suggested that I post in another Cakewalk forum. I did and there wasn't a single response. That makes total sense--they don't know me. So I totally respect that you don't think this post should be allowed here, but others are okay with it. My friend @Simeon Amburgey posts his videos here too. He is sometimes demoing new software that is a special price, but not always. He's one of us. Please consider letting this go and, as @PavlovsCat suggested, just don't pay any attention to it. All the best, Reid
  19. Thanks! I'll PM you tomorrow. I'll keep thinking about audio, but putting up blankets and duvets and close mic'ing goes 1000% against what is essential to me: the ability to knock these out quickly. Quick setup and takedown is a must. And there's absolutely no room at all. Every inch of space is being used for lighting. Plus, what about the 15 foot ceilings? Yes, I could move to the other end of the loft, but the Brooklyn Bridge is right out the window, with the roar of traffic. I hope you can listen to the moist audio without too much agony. Maybe it would help if I called it Air Rosefelt Studios? Once a week is definitely my plan. Eventually. But in the short run, I think it's a huge waste if somebody discovers one of these and then there's no other videos to check out. For example, if there are three or four "Desperately Seeking Susan" videos, they all help each other. So I want at least a dozen or so videos of various types uploaded before I consider slowing down. Mary Spender has been doing a video a day lately. She's doing okay. 😄 I don't know if I will be able to stick with this, but honestly I don't think this concept works until I have at least 50 of them. Then people can find one video and they'll be able to hunt through the list and find one more thing. I have no illusions about ever having many followers who like everything I do, but I do think it's possible that people will search for one movie or one person and then watch a video about another person or movie they like.
  20. I will hold the pictures longer. Thanks, that's a helpful note. As for audio and video, please no more advice. 😄 I've heard what everybody has to say, and I'll take it from here on. You'll see that the reflections are lessened in the next video, which should come out tomorrow. I'll keep working. I really appreciate all the notes I've received, but at this point, you've got to let me do this my own way. It may not be the way you would do it... My videos used to take up to five weeks and these I'm doing in a day or two. That's absolutely essential. It's a billion times more important to me to knock a lot of them out quickly than having everything perfect technically. Grem, this was the problem with the first video. But since then, I've addressed it. I can see that the original audio is always louder on the right in the original tracks in Premiere. So I separate the tracks in Audacity and balance them in Cubase. When I put the new mix back in Premiere, the meters go from their previous state of being louder on the right to being essentially even. In all my years as a musician, I have never put as much attention to a close study of the balance between left and right. I have to trust what I see in Cubase and Premiere.
  21. 100% of income from Strix Instruments is currently going to the Ukrainian Army. So it's a good time to buy directly from them, even if you have to pay a bit more.
  22. @mibby Trust me, I have wasted a lot of money on camera gear. I just shot the second Madonna video. When I put up the soft light really high, I remembered that it's not all that hard to minimize eyeglass reflections. The problem is that it causes other lighting issues. If I was young it would be fine but oh it makes me look like a horror movie villain without reflections in his glasses. 💀 So I put a reflector on the other side of my face and had a bounce card under my neck. I would say that I look a lot worse than with the Elgato lights, but that's okay because the reflections were distracting and now there are less of them. There are still reflections, but you'll see... it's a lot better. I'll keep working on it. Taking my glasses off didn't help because you can see the two lights reflected in my eyes, which is equally distracting.
  23. Thanks, Simon. I'm trying to get a little better each time. I won't always have a lot of pictures, but I think if somebody watches a few of them, they'll trust that I really was there. I just don't have photos of every single experience I've had. I was really lucky to get the photo of Jim Jarmusch and Sara Driver. Sara helped me. I'm starting to not care so much anyway... just pray that fair use will save me, and at the worse I can take the videos down and remove the photos if somebody complains. Today I will try it without glasses. I don't care about gravitas. I will care if it makes me look like Mr. Magoo. If that doesn't work, I'll have to turn off the Elgato desk lights and rig a soft light high and a reflector. I'm not sure I have enough room where I'm sitting to have that make a huge difference, but it should help. The key thing is if I can leave that stuff up in position all the time without pissing off my wife too much. (I shoot right next to where we sleep. ) I don't want a long setup. Finally I'll have to learn to stop moving around so much. But moving is really important to me. If you watch the videos of people showing how to eliminate reflections, they are very still. They find the spot and don't budge. This is why taking off my glasses might be the best solution. Re: Sound. I live in a loft space. One 1200 square foot room with 15 foot ceilings. No rooms, aside from the bathroom. It's boomy. One end faces the Brooklyn Bridge and is noisy. I've tried many ways to do sound, including various lav mics and speaking directly into a mic. Recording into different devices. Spent a lot of money and time. This is by far the best. Maybe someday I'll buy a better shotgun. I think people can understand me. Maybe somebody has a suggestion for software to make my voice less boomy?
