  1. dearVR MUSIC is definitely binaural, not just stereo. I composed and mixed these two pieces with it: But you can output stereo and make use of the excellent reverb settings. This article discusses the differences. But it helps to watch a video on PRO. PRO has 46 room presets, MUSIC has musch less. You can actually draw in the shape and size of the rooms for your own presets. Among other things there is an occlusion control that allows you to adjust the sound of an object as if it's blocked by another virtual object--a cool feature for mixing. https://everythingrecording.com/plugin-alliance-and-dear-reality-dearvr-music-and-pro/ I am thinking about doing a video at some point about binaural mixing. That's reason enough to get the pro version.
  2. dearVR PRO is $79 on the dear Reality site today, which I already thought was crazy, seeing how I was so happy to buy dearVR MUSIC on sale from them for $49. (I didn't know that their stuff was available from PA.) The truth is I am very happy using dearVR MUSIC and I put it on every track when I do binaural. I do wonder if PRO will be more CPU intensive because it does so much more. I have grown to love the spaces just for regular old stereo reverb, and PRO has a lot more presets. Only 12 hours to make up my mind.
  3. Really can't believe the $349 dearVR PRO is available at this price. That was something I didn't think I'd ever be able to allow myself to get, even on a half-price sale or whatever. Hard to resist.
  4. i think this video is excellent. A really great and honest summary of the history of Reason from early on to where we are today. Most importantly, what the future looks like. It's a very sad story from somebody who obviously has loved Reason for a long time. But it went up at the end of April, before today's crazy $79 update. It doesn't look like the price increase on upgrades was successful. An interesting idea to raise the price by $70 and then put out one of the weakest updates in Reason history. And release a version that's not ready! Classy. This explains what @Fleer meant by this sale being "desperate." I can't think of any other way to explain it. Having said this, I may buy it today. The future of Reason isn't important to me. There's enough in Reason 12 for me to want it. They've come a long way since 6.5. I think this is the perfect time for me to buy. I take the long range view. Maybe there will be some nice features by the time Reason 20 comes along and they'll have a sweet deal like this one! 😃 And if not, there's a lot of abandonware in my computer right now that I love. As long as it still works...
  5. Also... I'm such an idiot that I didn't know that Reason 12 came out 9 months ago. I guess I stopped paying attention. Checking out videos, etc, I see that some people were disappointed in it because they thought Reason botched the release--it wasn't ready. Lots of bugs. Since then they have had five updates. It's currently 12.2.6. So I pray they've worked out the bugs. Anybody have it? If I had upgraded when it was released, it would have cost $199! Every upgrade of Reason before that was $129. A $70 increase! 😡 As a long time fan of the company, I am stunned by this. Either a bunch of nasty, scuzzy people took over and fired all the nice old staff, or... maybe they want people to sign up for Reason+? Hmmmm.... This explains the talk of 60% off and $120 off, which confused me. $120 off $129 would be $9! 😃. 60% off would be $52.😃 In fact, this deal is around 40% off what the upgrade price used to be, Still the lowest price ever for a Reason upgrade. Great deal, particularly for me, as I haven't upgraded since 6,5. There's a lot of new features. Maybe next year they will raise the price of the upgrade to $299, so we will be able to save $220!
  6. I upgraded every year from Reason 3 to Reason 6.5. I was a superfan and used it every day. I bought a lot of supplemental products. I even went to events in NYC where a Propellerhead guy would demonstrate the upcoming features. I'd get so excited. But once they had the Rack Extensions, they moved a lot of the most exciting new stuff there. They lost me. The new versions didn't seem enough so, for the first time, I put off upgrading, hoping I'd like something better the next year. After I dropped out for a few years, I got Komplete Ultimate, Omnisphere, Spitfire, Orchestral Tools, tons of high-quality effects, etc. That was that. Suddenly Reason didn't seem like something I needed anymore. I had better stuff. For example, with what I own, I would never use Humana Vocal Ensemble. Probably the same for Pangea. Out of nostalgia I signed up for Reason 11+ for $3. And this sold me on not upgrading. It was $3 worth spending. This is the first time since 6.5 where I find myself actually interested. I love the new Combinator and the new graphics. I need another sampler like I need a new piano (ie I don't), but Mimic will certainly add more to the list of Combinator patches. (To be honest, I will mainly use this to horse around with the Combinator presets.) And of course, by switching now I would have the advances I do value like the Reason Rack, VST loading, Europa, etc I'm also more interested in EDM and Electronic music now than I ever was before. They've basically stoked my GAS by lowering the upgrade price from $129 to $70. Such a deal! Somebody talk me out of it, please! 😮
  7. I think this is really good news.
  8. No, Ang Lee and James Schamus and a lot of other people made the movie. 😀Michelle Yeoh, Chow Yun-Fat, Zhang Ziyi, Yuen Woo-Ping, etc. My staff and I just publicized it. And of course it was Sony Classics' film. On the positive side, I made a movie about the experience starring a rubber frog named Tiger. If not for my company going down on that film, there would be no Tiger the Frog. 🐸 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0420252/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 I'll make a YouTube video on it at some point explaining the whole sad story.
  9. Like I said, I don't know Plugin Alliance well. It scares me a bit, the way it stirs up my GAS with limited time offers. I can't think of another site where I've purchased more stuff at wonderful prices that I've never used once. But I could have saved money on DearVR products, that's for sure. I didn't realize that PA sold them until after I bought DearVR Music on the site.
  10. You're right. I don't know what the real story was, so it's wrong for me to voice an opinion.
  11. I really enjoy making binaural mixes with dearVR Music. I wish I hadn't jumped the gun on it and had waited for a good deal on dearVR Pro. It's now $79 (normally $349) on the site, and you experts probably know how to get it cheaper at PA.
  12. The website said that they were the two co-founders. Denis says that the deal was to split 50/50 and to my knowledge, Souter has not denied this. There's never been a "contractor" in the history of the world set up this way. 😄 When you are a contractor you get a flat fee. Everybody who has contracted for a job or has contracted somebody else for a job knows that is the way it works. So I think that Denis was insane to accept the deal that he did. You don't get statements when you are a co-founder and half owner. Statements are for outsiders, because frankly they can be "finessed." If you are a co-owner, you are in the accounts and see every purchase as it is made. And you are equally involved in deciding how money is going to be spent. What Denis describes is not this at all. Nothing else matters. The amount of time... who did what, etc. I could cry a rainstorm about how my company worked 15 months on "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." The film grossed 150 million, Sony didn't give me a bonus, and it closed my company, which was my dream. But boohoo. Shame on me for working so hard without knowing that I'd be fairly compensated. (Maybe I'll do a video) It's business. Like me, he made a bad deal. You take the life lesson and move on. IMHO, What he is doing by emailing people is only shooting himself in the foot.
  13. This thing spilled out in a long discussion on KVR. https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=8375475&sid=4b433617c50605f4b4a0b1a342d5214f#p8375475 It seems like things have fallen apart between the two of them and can't be fixed.
  14. It's one of the very first libraries I bought back in 2016. I think it cost about $70 on sale back then. I've gotten a lot of harps since then in various orchestral libraries but it stands up. Still the best glissandos I've seen, as the video demonstrates.
  15. I guess I missed this. When I go there each soundbank is the usual price. I already own most of these anyway, but would have liked to pick up a few that I don't own.
  16. Does anybody have a guess when the sale on the Cubase 12 updates will happen?
  17. Why don't you write them, @Fleer Maybe it's taking them time to roll them out. I got 300 points. I own a lot of ISW but nowhere near 35 products.
  18. I got Komplete Klassics and IK Krazy Deal with Klarna.
  19. I waited so anxiously for this… And now that it’s finally out, I’m not going to buy it. Timing.
  20. I’ve said this already, but I feel so bad about this company. I really like their products. I like the fun UI and the sounds. The prices are good during the frequent sales. I am completely puzzled why they would decide to build their own engine instead of go Kontakt or some other pre-existing technology. If you’re ujam or a company like that, you have millions of dollars and a large staff, so you can do it—but the impression I have of them is that they are just a few people. They made it so damned hard for themselves. Clearly they made it work for themselves on their own computers, but when they rolled it out to the wide world, there are a lot of musicians with a lot of different setups. But I’ll keep following threads like this to see if they ever get their act together.
  21. For the price of one month's subscription fee, you can try out Falcon and everything else that UVI makes. I wish all companies offered something like this as an option. Wouldn't it be great to be able to try out a Spitfire library before buying it?
  22. I don't know, but I think that TS 4 is likely to come out around BF, like TS 3.5 did. IMHO, they need to sweeten the deal a little bit more to make sure more people upgrade. So I'm thinking there will be some more T-RackS/AmpliTube processors coming before then, and maybe a new instrument or two. They might come out with Mixbus 2.
