  1. @Niky Serrano Not off topic at all, Ill bring it home to Cakewalk below .. all welcome .. Most who come to Ireland come to DUBLIN first ( mid east coast ) .. gotta get people out of that habit .. Cork, 2nd city is about half a million .. nice size, CHEAPER, own airport, uni city inc big music departments in all the colleges. City is Hugely MUSICAL as well as County Cork itself, esp West Cork/Clonakilty etc. Rory Gallagher, raised in Cork, buried here too. Supported him in 90s at open air concert. Also played with Noel Redding ( bass player Hendrix ) in 90s, he lived in Clonakilty. The 80s was special, saw a huge surge of original bands, lots of which still exist. Good scene here of people using DAWs and making music with same. Myself and other musos here have been using CAKEWALK since back then, back to DOS even. With the above continued tradition both our Keyboard player who just cannot play guitar and myself who can have both a few of these 8DIO Instant Guitar things as we share projects over the cloud, so what he does on those I will "learn" on actual guitar and record into track. We try and use plugs that we both have and when we share we share the MIDI files with the plugins we both have in the tracks
  2. Cork City, Ireland. Mid south coast of Ireland ( Cork is Irelands 2nd city ).
  3. @PavlovsCat More on way .. band members in diff countries inc USA, so the project / band is like slow cooking, working and sharing via cloud .. but then its been going since early 90s
  4. @Christian Jones re guitar .. check out latest track here www.colourtide.com .. Gettin On - 2.20 Solo .... but lots of guitar throughout inc skanks ..
  5. No prob @Christian Jones .. same here, me a guitar player too primarily. One of the things I want to try with these guitar libraries is to use them for ideas and then "learn" what i did with the library on the actual guitar .. maybe interesting approaching it that way
  6. 17/12/2022 - 3 more instant guitars added to the flash sale today - Mandolin, 12 string, Steel string https://8dio.com/collections/flash-sale
  7. I hear you. I also have zillions of Kontakt sampled instrument libraries over the years. I have to admit .. most I have never used. Lots were free and just downloaded BECAUSE .. they were FREE @abacab I actually have been wondering when these sampled instrument library companies will start offering cloud facilities to users to store / play libraries from. I realise this may involve sub options, but I imagine its coming .. esp for those of us on Gigabit Fibre Bband
  8. As I said @locrian .. my comment is aimed at those who mentioned having sample libraries on there systems and storage already. If you dont use loops in your music then yes Loopcloud is of NO USE to you. However I will add .. with the way these loops are integrated live into your CW projects via loopcloud plugin I have found it a great creative tool for new ideas .. just to use them as a start point for ideas for a new track/song. I only mentioned cloud based loop solutions as an ALT to allow further culling of stuff locally on ones systems. AND because you are auditioning loops BEFORE purchase you are not wasting anymore cash on buying GBs of loops you may never use. You just end up with loops / samples you will actually use Also if one has sample libraries already one may find they are also in loopclouds massive library already or an equivalent, thus freeing up huge used space on ones own backups and drives locally
  9. @abacab @PavlovsCat You both made mention of sample libraries. I realise there is another thread about LOOPCLOUD - particularly I think on the demo / trial version and issues with it, also issues with certain features removed when you finish the sub. Personally I have no issue with this .. I am more interested in the samples I choose there with the points you build up during your sub + the loopcloud plugins within CW tracks I think are fantastic the way they work. So why bring up Loopcloud here? In general I am a great believer in and user of the CLOUD, its the way forward in my view rather than cluttering drives with sample libraries in this case. Plus with member plans you do get cloud space to upload your samples too ( 50GB with the STUDIO plan that I have, 250GB with pro ). I think a cloud based sample solution at this stage is a no brainer. Where loopcloud is concerned I have NOT paid full sub of $99 per annum for a long time. Before I am due to renew sub, I CANCEL and each time so far they give me a personal renewal offer of $50 per annum, that I think is excellent value for a year. Also throughout the year they do knock the price down to as little as $50 I would urge people to try it OR any other cloud based samples solution. FREE is not necessarily always the best BUT there is always a sweet spot price wise for most where they will be happy like me The plugin functionality alone is excellent as far as I am concerned. Adding the loopcloud plug to a track in your project auto launches the Loopcloud app / UI on your system. There you can select ANY sample from there 10s of 1000s of samples and LIVE audition this sample loop inside your project. Keep doing so until you find one you like. It is only at this stage you "BUY" that sample with your amassed points which you get monthly via your sub ( I have 9947 pts or so at the moment over last 3 years .. in my STUDIO plan I get 300 points per month to "spend" ). BTW with your plan you get a daily allowance to download sample loops FOR FREE. With my STUDIO plan that allowance is 25 samples a day I can download gratis ( thats 175 free samples per week or 700 free samples per month. Within the loopcloud app is also a DAW with 8 tracks - so you can add up to 8 sample loops, mix match, chop etc WHILE having all this playing live with your CW project at the tempo in CW of that project ( loopcloud takes its tempo from the DAW .. it also syncs the sample pitch wise etc ). Anyway .. thats my 2 cents. I dont bother buying sample libraries any more, nor store them on my system. For me $50 per annum for all the above is just great value.
  10. @abacab Yip .. I have all the plugs on ext drives backed up if I ever need them. For me having them NOT INSTALLED is a better idea ... I would say for most of us we use or would only use a particular few most of the time anyway. As I said a big thing for me is to LEARN some core plugs properly to make decent use of them going forward
  11. The next thing is to look at KONTAKT and REAKTOR libraries. Again zillions of these, many free .. or if purchased sounded good at the time ..
  12. Not saying Ill never buy a plug again .. but rather than just going on wow this is a great deal I will look at NEED and if it fits in with what I have or fills a gap. Unless real good and useful I am going to stay away from freebies and stuff off of mags. My core is Native instruments Kimplete, Arturia inc FX, Cherry Audio, a small few Waves ( already removed a good few of these ), Izotope, Scaler, AAS, UVI I just really want to start to learn proper again .. know my way around decent useful plugins That list above also tallies with what other members in my band HAVE esp the song writing members .. so its handy that all have same core plugs for collab
  13. I think an important step esp where EFX plugins are concerned regardless of DAW is to decide on what EFX plugs to regularly use in each category of EFX eg EQ, Delay, Reverb and so on .. Try stick to a few decent ones per cat and not dilute with loads of freebies etc, ending up overwhelmed when trying to do something. Also LEARN these few plugs properly so you know your way around them therefore speeding up the creative process and mastering tracks etc Same goes for AUDIO Plugs .. Synths. I have so many synths and Kontakt Libraries .. huge number i will never use. Yet I still havent seriously dug into some great synths i have like pigments
  14. After all the purchasing over the years .. many via this DEALS section ... I decided to deep dive into my plugins folders and start being tough and getting rid of paid/free plugins that I am still not using. I want to get my plugins down to what I would use regularly. Doing same with DAWs .. I have a few, so I am just going to have Cakewalk and reaper installed, everything else goes. I find I am overwhelmed with plugins TBH and that its a positive step to cull as much as possible .. less is more and most likely more productive also, less temptation to go off side roads etc. Thats the plan anyway. Anyone else at any point conclude this / try EDIT - one other honourable exception .. I may keep REASON INTRO 11 on board ONLY to have it in "plugin Mode" ( I have the reason plugin ) inside CW/Reaper to have access to its unique inhouse plugs now and then
  15. Bought Dobro, acoustic and Electric .. got well paid for a job in advance today so why not

  17. Yip .. It was more being curious about the ProgramData Arturia ( your d:\arturia ) content which also references the VST2 and 3 plugins in ProgramData\arturia\ ( eg ) pigments\x64 I was wondering is that all install stuff that could be dumped to free up space?
  18. While on the subject of Arturia related. Updating / Installing. I notice it installs itself allover the place: - Vst64/32 folder ( or seperate if you have same viw prefs/location in ASC - VST 3 into Program Files/common files/vst3 - Into Programdata/Arturia - Into Program Files/Arturia Whats in ProgramData? ASC/folders says RESOURCES. What be they vs whats in Program Files etc?
  19. Sorry I was wrong - its AI in the bundle, so what you are now getting is the extra packs for the 19 as AI is now free above
  20. Yip I knew it was there. I am an avid Humble Bundle watcher and purchaser over the years esp for Audio and Graphics bundles. It seems the "Full" ver of Luminar is in the bundle vs AI
  21. Did you get this @pseudopop ? If so is it worth the 20 quid beyond the free Luminar app above
  22. Link - https://www.jrrshop.com/soundtoys
  23. Yip I am same. I can get what I need done no problem with V1, and the way things are economically now i dont have $99 to just pony up nor see the reason to right now
  24. Thats what i mean. The fact they are extending the BF deal to end of January probably means not as many people biting as they would like
