  1. I was trying to do two things:

    1) Use the A-PRO as a transport controller with a long USB cord
    2) Use A-PRO to control specific Synth Rack controls.

Anyway, The connection is working now at least Play/Stop from the Hardware is working.

Is this what you mean, the A-PRO Controller? (i'm not sure why "Neutron" is displayed, there is no instance in the project.)

  2. Scaler2 = S2
Anyone using Scaler2 + Cakewalk Audio Setup?
The MIDI version I understand and works as expected.
The Audio version, not so much.

Does S2 need to be Inserted on  the Audio track, or
Does S2 need to be it's own Simple Instrument and Audio Routed to it?

A few setups tried: Cakewalk MIDI Setup

    1) Track with Recorded Audio + S2 is added to this Track to detect Chords
    2) When S2 is ON = Cannot hear the Tracks audio as notes are detected.
    3) When S2 is OFF = then the Tracks audio as is audible.

The main input(A-PRO1) is only the keys,
the other input (A-PRO 2) is the controller functionality.

    When Using as controller:
(PLAY, STOP) A-Pro Hardaware "ACT" button on = ?

When Using as just as Keyboard:
    A-Pro Hardaware "ACT" button on = ?

    This just happened:
    1) After setting up All correct A-PRO settings, Close Cakewalk

    2) A-PRO USB = Powered On
    3) Open Cakewalk
    4) as soon as CBB launches A-PRO "ACT" button turns orange (on)
    5) Transport Buttons work as expected
A-PRO LCD reads: Control Map 19 (i must have made this the default)

    In Cakewalk> Utility> A-PRO1
Software control surface THE "ENABLE" Button = on

    A-PRO SETUP
    * Used with permission from: S.Wallis
    Cakewalk
    Edit> Preferences> MIDI Devices
    inputs> A-PRO MIDI IN:   A-PRO 1 and A-PRO 2
    outputs> A-PRO MIDI out and A-PRO.

    Then click apply

controllers/surfaces> (Click the yellow star to add a controller)
Select A-PRO from the controller/surface drop down menu
    MIDI inPort> A-PRO 2
    MIDI OutPort> A-PRO
    * Make sure ACT and WAI and both selected.

    click apply

    Cakewalk main track page
    Utilities> A-Pro - 1
On your A-PRO, press the ACT button, so it's lit, and press the back button (on the keyboard still) until the LCD reads Control Map. Turn the Value knob all the way to the left to select control map 0 (Sonar ACT Map)
press the value knob to select it.

    Cakewalk main track page
    Utilities> A-Pro - 1
If you used to use a generic controller before the A-PRO, then this screen usually has blue and green banks of knobs, sliders and buttons where you can use MIDI learn.

If you followed the above, then hopefully this screen should now look completely different. You should see the LCD screen, knobs, sliders, the pads etc.
.. From the presets menu, select  "Tracks/FX/Synths/Utility 2"
(I don't know why, but i find this works better than the default one, which doesn't seem to work at all for me...)

All the transport buttons on the A-PRO should now be working.
You should also notice one of the B1-B4 buttons is lit.

These tell Cakewalk what you want to control and you can choose from Tracks Effects Synth or Utility.

If you select Tracks, then the first 8 knobs and sliders control the pan and volume (fader) of tracks 1-8.
If you hold shift on the A-PRO, you can use the back and forward buttons (underneath the LCD screen) to have the first 8 knobs and sliders control the NEXT 8 tracks (shift and forward) Obviously if you hold shift and press the back button it selects the previous 8 tracks.

  4. This feature request would be great to match any VST that uses Key switch or custom Key map settings.
    1)  PRV Multiple Custom Color Key Overlay and ability to change Each Key Color and Text. displayed over the Key

    Also
    2) a toggle all note names off/on displayed on the Keys at all times, not just on Mouse over.  ability to change the Key Color and Text.

    mouse Over?
...is their a better term than "mouse" in 2023? lol
What do the kids call it these days?

Mouse LC = Mouse Left Click
    MRC = Mouse Right Click
    MMC =

  5. @Lord Timdelete the Track containing the frozen clip. I don't need the MIDI or Audio anymore.
"Either way should work. Try it. You can always Ctrl+Z if the results aren't good."
Had a few times where deleting a Frozen Synth destroyed the project ctrl Z did not save the day.
    Hence the post.

just backup the project if in doubt, but is sounds like it's not a problem anymore.

    ~ Thanks!

  6. Might be a feature or a Bug.
KEY: Lc Mc Rc (Left, Middle, Right, mouse CLICK)

In Piano Roll view, (the lower screen to edit Velocity, Wheel, etc.)
    PRV Controller lanes
    "Wheel"
    1) Mc--> select Draw Tool "Sine"
Trying to draw a sine wave pattern not working and Mc (Middle Click ) does not re-open tool options.
    2) To open the right click menu again, Tool Options: Must Mc in the Piano Roll View to work again.

The only Draw Tool that worked was "Freehand" and Line"

I was trying to draw a sine wave pattern in the "Wheel" Controller Data.

    cbb_Bug_SineTool.jpg

  7. on PLAY the Piano track makes a terrible out of tune 'wobble' sound. The Event List shows "WHEEL"
this was not intentional, and the MOD WHEEL was not used, yet here we are.

Why doesn't the wheel data display on the Track Lane? I was hoping to see a visual of this monstrosity.
Is there a way to get the Wheel data to display in the Trak view?

    UPDATE:
In Piano roll view the PRV "WHEEL" Control Data is visible  it's also showing up 5 times. The Track View is not Displaying the recorded Wheel data.

  8. Many of these old projects were the equivalent of when you get an idea and press record on Ye Olde Tape machine. They are not songs yet but ideas that had no meaningful name. I thought "Godin E Aura Delay QT 05"  had meaning at the time lol
...yeah so what i use to call "MASTER" was actually tracking.
    ~ Thanks ~
this gives me a much better way to start organizing new projects.

Now, Any time a project is open I export out whatever is in it as a WAV with the exact file name for easy reference then convert it to MP3.

  9. I'm currently trying to organize some newer and some 10 year old projects (most never completed) so most is just audio to a click track.
Projects use to be  tracked, mix then export all from the same file.
What are some better ways to Organize projects and name them?

A few examples of the current file name hellscape :

007 Drop C  classical Guitar MASTER cwp
007 Drop C  classical Guitar PARTS cwp
062407 Guitar Drop D Gtr Spanish pick 01 cwp

  10. I want a Drum Tempo to match an already recorded Guitar track.
When Drag/Drop to the timeline select "Automatic"
How to have the tempo map start at a different measure than 1?

    Example

The beat of the the guitar starts at measure 4 but there are riffs and noise in the first
My thought is to just cut off the first part and bounce it to a new track.
