I am only in a Home Studio but have been with CW forever. I also am one of the peole who is always on the internet. Never , ever ha an issue like viruses, malware, etc. I am very dilligent about protection. That said I have been going back and forth about staying with Sp[lat or going full time with CWBL. I now, have finally made the move to use ONLY CWBL because as many mentioned it is a much improved version. For me, just the visual reminder that Ripple editing is on or off is a great thing. Among many other improvements. My experience with Wi0 and CWBL and staying online is the same as Cactus in post above this one-all good.

So tried again. I inserted a track folder above it. Then I deleted the track folder I just made. Now it opens. mind boggling. You know, I guess it all boils down to my faults and also something in my mind is telling me to stay with Splat. So, Yes I have posted before about things and mostly Scook and cactus iirc straightened me out. Once lens were o n, th other I do not recall. So NOW: Open a project in CWbBL, all audio tracks, no midi. I have a track folder named Drums Audio. Except it is NOT a folder that can be opened or anything. The 20 tracks are in there but the folder is non functional. Once again, I go back to Splat immediately and low and behold the Drum audio track folder is, you guessed it, a normal track fold - NO lenses are on. So is there a setting somewhere that I do not know about? Once again I am trying so hard to love CWbBL since it is being developed but jeeeezzzzz. Any ideas? properties of the folder show 20 audio files and nothing else. I donot get it. I mean isn't a track folder a track folder "always" if that is the way I create it? Thanks

Hey Jim Yes I was really surprised when I read Stckmans blog about it. He has the ame card. It's been months and never a glitch. I definitely was presently surprised because I really liked the card and was very familiar with it. I actually had given up and was using my backup-Rloand Octacapture. So glad I found it.

There is an adapter that actually works really well and cost in the $30 range. My echo Layla 3G is half height and it has been flawless with the adapter to PCI Express slot. Stickman33 found the adapter. PM me if yopu would like the name. $30 is well worth having a backup you like. Echo Tech told me their card would NEVER work with a PCi to PCIe adapter. Uh, they were wrong......... I actually have to perfect AP2496's sitting in my closet. Forgot about those until this thread.....

So I also looked around. got demos of SOP3 and MIxbus. I already owned reaper and have for a while now. Today I use Splat and CbB...period. Works for me but I am not making $$$ doing this, just a home studio. I will most likely keep reaper updated, just because.

Yup That was it............So I am just a dummy. I can live with that. Thanks as Always Scook................. Amazing how basic actions can change so drastically. Even if I did EVER create a scene I certainly would not HIDE folder and have a track deleted when removing said folder. Or have the smart tool become dumb. Oh well.

So I had posted about an issue like this a few weeks ago and thought I had it solved, with the forums help. So I downloaded an old BB king tune to play at a private party as a request. Just a simple 1,4,5............. Someone please do me a favor. I have attached a midi file I downloaded form a reputable website. Add 2 folders anywhere in the middle of the track view. First, adding a folder does NOT show the folder but it is listed in the send to list as folder 1 and folder 2. Now try to drag open any track to view input and output. Anything strange happen? for me it does. Cannot open the track I am focused on. now undo the insert folder for both instances. When I do this the tracks disappear? Not the folder tracks because they were never shown, but the track where I wanted to insert the folder be it 7 or 9 lets say? ONCE AGAIN...this "same" midi file works as expected in SPLAT...no issues. Is this some hidden preferences in CWbyBL that I am missing? It's just a midi file..... Thanks for indulging my frustration with this. I am trying so hard to move to CWbyBL because of the updates and enhancements but stuff like this keeps happening. B_B_King_Rock_Me_Baby.mid

I understood the OP to mean online thingy , as in always. Using anything to download and authorize isn't the same. you pretty much have to download and authorize pretty much most music software. Maybe I misunderstood,

Hi There is NO online thingy. Once it's installed it's CW period. I still Use Sonar Platinum-last version 99% of the time. But I have been fooling with CWbyBL a little bit everyday. There really is NO down side, considering it's free, based off the last Platinum version and has been getting improvements for quite a while now. I still have 8.5 producer , but it's not installed. Good Luck whatever you decide to do.

ey So I wanted to thank you guys who responded and helped. I finally have things moving. Like mentioned above I hit piano key for instrument I want. Then select a bunch and move. I still cannot do the whole thing but that's ok. Practice makes semi-perfect Thanks again guys

I really do NOT buy midi files. But like I said most free were garbage for this song. Brides song, so I bought it after previewing it. The sequence ood. bass and drums mainly and some piano. Mostly guitar "bo diidly type which I will play and sing. wht a hassle for one song. BUT, at least I ize I do need to learn the PRV ins and outs, after decades of not using it. Thanks

No but I have only tried in this one midi file from yamaha on the web. I need to try with my own midi files. To add to my post above I just opened the cwp I made with softsynths and all of the file. deleted the drum track (cut, not deleted)PAsted it right back in and it is showing midi notes like it should not 25&27. Although they are the wrong notes but now I can change them. Very strange. This file was a type 0 midi file to start with. first thing I did was save it as a type 1. Maybe that screwed it up. Although it shouldn't. CW auto explodes type 0 midis upon opening. Thanks for the help

Hey Cactus I know that from your posts and others. Nothing drags in any shape or form. But, the big but. I was going to upload the drum track as a midi file so you guys could see what I mean, Right. So I copied the drum track. Opened a new project. Pasted the midi track in by itself. TTS-1 comes up per your advice years ago. But now it is showing the 25&27 as C#2 & d#2???? That is so weird. I can now do find and replace because I know they are suppose to be the ride a clsdHH's. In the original file they are also assigned to TTS-1 but for whatever reason it did not change the 25&27? So thanks to all. I am guessing it has something to do with it being a yamaha paid midi file $3.99 was worth it for the wedding so I didn't have to sequesnce the thing. All the free midis I found for the song were garbage. So after I get this right I will try and move\drag\select etc in prv view with a regular mdi file of my own. I have 1,000's. Thanks guys

No I have been trying to drag the whole thing from the left pane. Would be so easy to use find\replace if this stupid midi file for the wedding was normal. By that I mean the drum track . The 2 notes I need to change are, well non notes. They have numbers instead. 25 and 27. which could be called c#2 and d#2 but find and replace does not recognize them as anything. I tried using 25, no go/. tried using c#2, no go. I know what they should be I think. There are no hh's or ride in the drum track so I figure thats what they must be. But to to change them one at a time is ridculous. Also tried split notes to track Cal. It will not recognize the 2 5 & 27. It splits the rest fine but ignores the 2 numbers. really frustrating. It is the brides soong so I guess I will have to do it by hand. ridiculous. Oh well, not CW's fault. I will try to drag sections and see if that works.

So, yes, I have never , ever used the PRV, I have always used my own moves. But now I have an issue. If I look at the midi drum track in PRV and select a row of sounds. I can drag it up and down. I want to drag it to say Clsd HH but I cannot. Just wondering why it lets me select the entire row of said note and drag it all where evrr I want but I cannot get it to stick anywhere? Hope that makes sense. I guess my old ways are catching up with me 🙂 The note in question is a number, not a note name. I am guessing it is clsd HH because of where it appears throughtout the track. But since it is a number, I cannot use find\replace. Bummer.

Not sure where grid lock is for track view on tracks but I will look. Yes I thought it was weird, but even weirder is that Splat has NO issues at all with it. Why would that be? It is a weird midi file, a yamaha.com file. It was midi 0 but I saved it as a midi type 1 first thing. Thanks for the reply

So, regular midi file, type 1. Then saved as cwp after adding softsynths: Track view, tracks are in numerical order 1 thru 16. So I drag midi track 4 by holding cursur over little midi icon on track 5 lets say. As I have done for the last 2 or 3 decades. I want to drag it to position above track 1 so it appears as the first track in the midi file.. I get the dark line showing I am dragging it but instead of changing it's position, it changes the track number but leaves track 4 in track 4 position but it is now denoted as track 1. That is NOT what is expected. Is this some new setting I have missed? ***This happens no matter where I try to drag the track to, just the number of track changes, not the position. This same midi file, or any midi file works as expected in Splat. Also, I purchased a midi file for a song I need to play at a wedding as a one person band, whcih is what I have done a lot of in my life. I play guitar and sing along with the backing track. CWbyBL cannot handle this file at all. S No softsynth folders that I have added show up in track view (no they are not hidden I checked) Precision for grabbing or dragging anything in track view is a joke. Near impossible. Now this part only happens with this one file, but SPLAT has NO issues with it at all? Really confusing to say the least.

As I already alluded to...What matters to me is TIME as a Cakewalk user. Yes it's Bandlab but the idea is still 99% Cakewalk and that is important IMHO. So we are suppose to forget about old Cakewalk and focus only on new Cakewalk? Why is that a requirement? My post count was 3044 but that does not show me as a loyal Cakewalk user. My 28 years sure do. Is that a symbol of "puffing my chest"...Nope. It's just my dedication and support of a product I have used and loved for many, many years.

So I cannot right click and do this? I can, however do it in Spalt with the SAME midi file? Both are set "Run as Administrator" So I am stumped here. Any ideas? Thanks
