  1. I do it with a vibrato vst. A bit of work but ok. Some vst respond to the modulation wheel with vibrato.
  2. And you are clicking on the little folder on the right hand side in the pro-channel name window at the top when you hover the mouse cursor over it (window with "Untitled"??
  3. Never noticed that. I click on the header.
  4. Anyone figured out a way to detect when you've left a clip unrendered? I've been using the method of creating a region on a random clip and then seeing if any other clips show up but maybe there is some indicator that I've left a region unrendered. I don't leave them unrendered very often but once I awhile I'll forget.
  5. Wookie - Again, I don't understand where you are getting this but let's agree that I don't need to.
  6. Yeah, I sound just as bad in my SM58, GT55, vac tube condenser and 2" ribbon mics. The ribbon just better shows how bad. But they are are great for acoustic guitars.
  7. I don't understand the relevance to my points. I don't have a problem with anyone. I just want them to release Sonar so I can decide if I want to stick with it. I thought Bandlab was quite generous to let us use CbB free for a period of time. Nobody else did. I think you are trying to convince me to drop a position I don't hold.
  8. A periodic check in doesn't bother me all that much as long as I know how often I have to connect and if I am getting close to needing to connect so I don't find myself in a mountain cabin without internet and CW decides I need to re-authorize. That Would Piss Me Off
  9. If you can't play the parts or can't get a band together to play the parts for you, BIAB is a good place to give you some of the "other" musicians you need to make a song. But you are at the mercy of their libraries which, while good, will tend to drive you to some cliche styles. One common practice is to use BIAB to create the basics of a song and then go in and replace the parts with your own (or a friends) playing. It's great for trying various things and building up the framework (chords and changes) to a song. It can be very inspirational. However, letting it do 95% of the playing and then me just going in and singing the vocals and maybe playing a solo eventually gets boring. You tend to create the same stuff over and over. BIAB can quickly become Song-in-a-Can. But again, as a framework (especially with a large library of styles) it can really trigger ideas and help flush out creativity. But try to avoid the AI aspect (write me a song in this style and with the talents of the most famous musicians) and then claim you wrote and played a song. Spend time practicing and playing for yourself. There are A LOT of BIAB songs out there that the originator didn't play much on it. They programmed it but didn't play. And yes, EDM is much like that but there is some really good EDM and R&B despite that. I do use BIAB (occasionally) to work out chord complexities beyond major/minor/sevenths. Once done, I play the parts and rarely ever keep anything from BIAB. In the beginning I did though, but here comes the cliche stuff. It rarely gets pulled out now but it still worth having for getting that kick in the pants to write some songs. And since you can port the waves and midi to Cakewalk, it really helps with inspiration. It is limited in how complex you can make as song. You're not going to to Tarkus in BIAB. Well, maybe in 12 sections! IMHO
  10. Meaning, they want more money than I want to give them and conditions/terms I don't like. I learned Cakewalk - I can learn another DAW. Actually, I am pretty good at two others but so far Cakewalk is preferred. I don't think the new Sonar's functionality will be an issue. To not go south again, Cakewalk has to make enough money to pay for support and development. I don't know how many developers are on the team but that is overhead (I would assume) Bandlab would like to cover at some point. But then who knows that their business plan is. I am impatiently waiting and hope it's something I am willing to open my wallet for. So far I don't know what it will be (although it sounds very close to the existing CbB with an improved GUI), how much they will want ($$$) and what the conditions of use will be (own or rent.) Them telling us it's something we will like (oh, we think everyone will be happy with the terms) is meaningless. What is it.
  11. Bandlab was certainly generous letting us "borrow" Cakewalk for a couple of years and in return we tried to give feedback to help them make it better. But it wasn't "given" to us for free, it was "loaned" to us for free. I saw a ton of suggestions and issues identified and fix by the developers. It's been quite the event! But all things come to an end. At some point they want Cakewalk back. Now if they change their minds and let us keep it, great but I would expect they will want us to buy Cakewalk (Sonar). If it's worth it, I certainly will but I understand I might have to move over so some other DAW.
  12. Drag it and confirm the time matches your marker. It helps to zoom way out so you can see the clip you want to move and the marker location.
  13. After I have switched a bunch of VSTs and lost track of what is currently being used, I go to the Synth Rack and solo each VST and see if it solos any tracks. If not, it's not being used.
  14. Byron, I think what he is requesting is to help make this forum better, not worse.
  15. Or just let it load and delete it. You're going to have to point the tracks to other VSTs anyway so it a simple additional step.
  16. That's how I do it. You can't just leave the punch-out "undefined." Well, at least until someone corrects me!
  17. I suspect that rather than a snag they might be guilty of being a tad over-exuberant on the timeline. Like I've never done that ...
