  1. The primary thing making parallel work with a DAW difficult is not having a multi-client ASIO driver. But GP has a nice audio recorder. You can record and save your work in GP and then import the audio to your DAW.
  2. Too late for me. Still, 19 € is a good deal.
  3. Gig Performer is a VST host that runs standalone (Windows or Mac). It is not a plugin. What I showed was the Wiring View (the back panel) of the rackspace. The front panel is for widgets to control the specific variables of the plugin(s) you want live control over, not all available controls. You can then map those widgets to hardware or OSC sliders, knobs and buttons (on a keyboard MIDI controller, a MIDI foot controller like the Behringer FCB1010, or an OSC app on a tablet). You can create rackspace variations for each of the amp sim, so one variation for AmpliTube 5 (active; all others bypassed), one for Ampeg's SVT Suite (all others bypassed, etc), or you can create individual rackspaces for individual amp sims if the widget requirements are different. GP4 now has a global rackspace, so plugins used globally don't need to be duplicated in each individual rackspace. For example, MSuperLooper should be in the global rackspace. I haven't moved it there yet. There's a ton of other functionality, including a Rig Manager, that makes using different MIDI controllers with the same gig file a snap (think of studio vs. live). 4. Not that I really needed another bass amp sim, but this looked pretty cool for 19 €, so I picked it up. You can authorize it 3 different ways, including with the provided license file for offline use. One strange (?) thing is that I also received a purchase receipt from MeldaProduction, so there's some kind of connection there. Already added to my Gig Performer bass amp sim rackspace.
  5. Take a look at the Fathom folder in your Documents folder. It creates secondary folders instead of updating the existing ones, with mostly duplicate content. I have to check each of the "xxxxxx 2" folders content sorted by date to see if there's anything new or updated. This time, there was, so I copied over the additional content folders from "Programs" to "Programs 2", then deleted all of the "xxxxx" folders, and renamed the "xxxx 2" folders to "xxxx". I suspect that if I don't do that, the next update will install "xxxx 3" folders. What an f'ing mess.
  6. Nice synth, but updating is still a convoluted mess.
  7. FWIW, several GP users have attempted to use Patchwork inside of GP, with mixed success. You can check out their posts at: Gig Performer forum and search on "Blue Cat Patchwork".
  8. I'd rather pay an upgrade fee once every few years than have to pay for an annual subscription. $29 gone. Installing now. I like the fact that they let you deselect the 32-bit install instead of forcing it on you. Authorized via Chords. But a couple of others (Deep, Beat) are throwing an "unauthorized" message. Chords shows "authorized" and has a deauthorize button. So, not ready for prime time. Anyone else have this problem. Solved? If so, how?
  9. For anyone seriously considering Cantabile, I highly recommend taking a look at Gig Performer (14-day free trial available). I switched to it from Cantabile several years ago. It's light years ahead of Cantabile as a live host. The devs are former IBM Research fellows and are active musicians. One is a touring keyboard player. Windows and Mac. 10. Here's the kind of application I intend to use MAutoAlign on. Note that the video uses the InPhase plugin from Waves. I have a license for that, and for many other Waves plugins, but I swore off Waves (WUP and shell proliferation) for my new DAW. I plan to use MAutoAlign where the video creator uses InPhase. By the way, Gig Performer is awesome. I switched to it from Cantabile; it's so much easier to use and much more complete. I started with v2; v4 is shipping now.
  11. Awesome. I've been waiting for MAutoAlign to hit their weekly sale.
  12. I made it almost all the way through solving those equations until I hit a "divide by zero" and the whole thing failed. Does that mean my free Jampoints are worthless?
  13. Brrrrr. What's amazing about Arcachon is that we're at the same latitude as Boston, but had no snow this winter, and only one or two days where the windchill dropped all the way to -1.. Celsius. About +30 Fahrenheit. Nice winter! A couple of areas up north along the English channel could get 5-10 cm of snow today. Just some cold wind from the north here.
  14. I did some more clicking around, shut down AT5, walked my dogs for an hour along the bay down by Le Moulleau, came back and voila!, there was ToneNET working in AT5. Must have been the dog walk. 😅 Loving France, still working on my feelings for IKM. 🤪
  15. Not sure what you mean. I clicked on the ToneNET link in the v5.4.0 update, which opened a Chrome window and took me to a page where I created a ToneNET alias for my IKM account. Back in AT5, all I get is the 103 error. When I click on the globe icon to the right of the big ToneNET button, I'm taken to an IKM ToneNET web page that shows me logged in with the alias I created. The initial wizard you refer to is no longer available in AT5, so I'm stuck.
  16. Still throwing a 103 error message for me after multiple tries. Tone.net user profile verified. YAIKMUNRFPT Yet Another IK Multimedia Update Not Ready For Prime Time
  17. I know that Steinberg is working on a new licensing scheme, but I avoided Cubase specifically because of the eLicenser dongle. I had dealt with iLok's various dongles going all the way back to the Centronics port app-specific dongles. You could "supposedly" chain a couple of them in series, but that never worked. Only the dongle physically connected to the port worked. The others in the chain never did. And iLok NEVER provides any assistance, always referring you back to the app provider. I wasted a bunch of money on Steven Slate's plugins which required the iLok USB dongle, which was unreliable on my desktop DAW and used up a precious USB port. Slate added cloud support, but that's worse than a physical dongle. They refuse to: a) support iLok's soft licensing (to the PC), and b) respond to any attempt to communicate with them regarding the issue. So, I swore off physical dongles. The fact that Steinberg is working on some kind of soft licensing process is no longer relevant to me. I'm past the point where I'd make a major investment (learning time and money) in a new DAW.
  18. I bought a license to Studio One Pro v2 before I bought one for SONAR. The only real reason I got into SONAR was the forum. The Studio One forum was, and continues to be, of little use to me. I stopped using SPLAT when it transitioned to BandLab. I also stopped using Reaper because I was spending too much time screwing around with the GUI and not recording. I had kept updating Studio One, and returned to it full time. Nothing is perfect, but no regrets here, either.

    MODO BASS 2

Money gone. Used all of my JAM points. The two AUBs and the fretless Jazz made it a worthwhile upgrade for me.
  20. The Orange Vocoder v4 was demoed at the Frankfurt Messe in 2018, but has yet to see the light of day. Not holding my breath.
  21. It's not just that. A number of vendors install their product to the Windows Public/My Documents folder, a place I never remember to look. I've wasted too much time searching for installed content and not finding it. I always seem to forget to check the Public User folders. I couldn't find the install folder to do the update, then followed the video advice to use Kontakt, and voila, there it was. Sheesh. I HATE it when vendors use the Public User without asking me during the initial install process.
  22. I purchased and installed v2 (upgraded from v1), but haven't had time to play with it yet. FWIW, v1 with the expansion takes up less than 400 MB of drive space. v2 comes in at close to 1 GB with the expansion, so there's a lot more going on that makes the $70 upgrade price reasonable. YMMV.
  23. On the off-chance that you haven't heard this classic by Sir Mashup.
  24. And a loverly good morning to you all from France.
