  1. I don't really care what Cakewalk/BandLab do as I don't use it, but for the sake of sanity, say no to Linux, don't waste time and money on it's pursuit (I know they wont) I spent my few years using it, I know what it's like getting into the Linux 'Ideal', and I know how good it feels to get out of that mind set and back to the real world. As far as Linux goes, 'The cake is a lie' (no pun intended) Maybe Winblows, but LinSux!!!
  2. I'd say it's more than likely he is just using a simple example just to demonstrate, being a long time user and now on the dev team I would say he'd be aware of most things.
  3. No. That may be dependent on the fact that the user doesn't or hasn't in the past done anything foolish. I just done mine and it's business as usual. For me there were updates for GW MixCentric and WLM Plus Loudness meter I believe. Both were already v11 **** My V10 plugs remain intact and fine.
  4. Well apparently it's not for headphone correction, comments not in italics are Mr Cat himself. https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=545419 So I reinstalled it with different thinking in mind, messed around for a few hours, trying things mentioned above, and this and that, uninstalled again, moving on . . .
  5. Very limited selection of Headphones to choose from, this may increase in the future, but as of now, it's limited. Don't really like the GUI, then I have never been a fan of Blue Cat's, didn't think much of Axiom. Sound, well it does something. When I think about it it tends to make my head explode, perhaps I don't understand the purpose of this type of thing. Can you say it sounds good, or it sounds bad? Isn't the point to make things sound somewhat 'Flat' and adjust/correct for where particular sets of headphones may be enhancing frequencies? I mean I don't think it's supposed to make things sound like a high end consumer playback system, but 'flat', so as you can hear more accurately how all the frequencies are interacting together without being enhanced. That being the case, you would think that the applied correction curve for a specific set of headphones would be very similar from one app to the next, but in fact for the apps that I have that show you a display of said correction curve for a specific set of phones, they are far from the same? I don't think these things should have EQ's and such for you to 'enhance' what the app is doing, that seems to be going against the purpose, as I said, my head explodes. I think I will continue to rely on Sonarworks Reference 4 , as it seems to translate pretty good (although the more I use it, I am liking Abbey Road Studio 3 more and more), I will also keep double checking with Morphit/Nx/ARS3, but I think I have enough of these things to do what is required. No doubt you can do it without these if you desired, it's just a matter of knowing your set up, and what you setup may enhance or lack, and over time you get a pretty good idea of what is what, I mean there was a time not that long ago these types of aids didn't exist. So for me it's a pass, but ymmv, and it is a good price if it does it for you.
  6. In my experience, your fears are unfounded and not based in reality. I have zero issues in the areas you speak, I have v9, v10, v11 all working fine, it's as easy as. Follow the correct method, there is no problem. I will leave you to your alternate reality. I'm out
  7. It's priced well. I have all the usual suspects, Sonarworks Reference 3/4, Waves NX (and the Abbey Road Studio 3 thing), Toneboosters Morphit, use Sonarworks mostly. Might as well check this out see how it goes.
  8. I wont comment directly on Cakewalk/CbB, as I no longer use them, but it will generally be the same for all. Don't believe all the BS and FUD that is said about Waves, Waves is one of those products/Companies that tend have haters and lovers, there are haters that can't help themselves and push their agenda at every opportunity, there are a couple of those here on these very forums. You don't have to worry about your plugins suddenly not working anytime soon, having said that I guess like all software, if not updated, sometime in the distant future through OS changes etc things may not work as they do now, but like I said, that is the same for any software. With waves 'WUP' the update plan is totally optional, not having a current WUP, unlike what some would have you believe, will not cause your plugins to stop working. Waves has a lot of plugins, a lot quite old, but they continue to work today on current OS's. You may find other developers who's plugins are no longer supported, who's plugins may struggle at some time, and as they are no longer supported or updated, eventually they may not work or not work as designed. With waves, and the WUP, you can be pretty much assured that their plugins will continue to work. As mentioned WUP is optional, only use it when and if you want/have to, or if there is a benefit to you, like free plugins to whatever Bundles you may have. I am a long time user, many years, of Waves plugins and have no issues with them at all.
  9. Speaking of 'Thinking men" one for Mr Strummer
  10. Then you should have warmed to the Pro Channel, because it is nothing more than a glorified FX bin. 😁 (Smiley face, but it's true, the glorified FX bin part) I never 'warmed' to it myself either, never used it, and it was buggy, and apparently still is, switching itself and or it's modules on at random among others.
  11. How do you know he isn't a she?
  12. Never mind, after re-listening to a heap of audio demo's, and re-watching a heap of videos and reading various forum posts, checking the release notes for the 1.1.0 update, I remember that it was more than just the sound that pushed me to leave it on the shelf at release. I'll have to pass again.
  13. Track Icons look hideous, at least in SONAR they did. I would be proclaiming "Say no to track icons' if it wasn't for the fact that you can choose to use them or not, so it doesn't bother me in the end 😁
  14. I wish there was a demo (unless I am missing something), I passed this up on release, I own BFD1/2/3 and practically every expansion pack there is, had EZD2, Superior 2 and all expansions (GAS, never liked or used SD2 or it's expansions), Superior 3, AD1/2 etc, the only one I ever used is BFD, it sounded the best to my ears, the rest just gathered dust, so I sold all the Toontrack and XLN stuff, been doing the same with Amp Sims, either giving away or selling those I don't use and only keeping the ones I do. MODO Bass was awesome, it immediately replaced Trilian for me, I'd like to think MODO Drums was also, but none of the audio demo's for MODO Drum really grabbed me, I thought the sound I get with BFD is better and more realistic, but then it's hard comparing audio demos on the net to the real thing on your system. Another thing that makes me a little hesitant is that there hasn't really been much buzz from the punters in the various forums around the place, makes me think it never really made that much of an impression? Anyone who owns MODO Drums and also BFD3 care to comment? DO you use MODO Drum or does it just gather dust? I know it's nice to own everything, but now days I've been shying away from buying just for the sake of it, and trying to buy and keep only the stuff I actually use. Wish they had a damn demo (10 months or so on and still no demo . . . hmmm, may be a sign). I wouldn't pay full price regardless, but 99e is tempting, but not if I will end up not using it.
