  1. I remember a conversation with an IBM employee (family friend) early 90s when MCA was coming in: he was completely befuddled as to why anyone would want to be able to use an existing ISA card (like extra serial ports - remember them?) in a new PS/2 machine. Not really a surprise the architecture didn't actually survive.
  2. Note that enabling/disabling the plug-in via the "System" button causes a big gap in the audio: not when doing individual sections of the plug-in (makes little sense to me but there you have it). The input gain makes things very fizzy and unpleasant. Compressor is nice.
  3. I won't post a link to it as it's gratuitous self-promotion, but I/Xoo do (does?) have a song called Brain Tattoo available online... Meanwhile, I feel obliged to: Hawkwind - Brainstorm
  4. You snooze, you lose 🙂
  5. The plug-ins have to be coded to support this too so if they haven't been thusly coded, the CbB can't do the migration/hiding.
  6. The New Seekers - I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing
  7. Super Furry Animals - Rings Around The World
  8. The Psychedelic Furs - Pretty In Pink
  9. Stealers Wheel - Stuck In The Middle With You
  10. Cutting Crew - (I Just) Died In Your Arms
  11. Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son
  12. Filtron by Polyverse.
  13. Peter Gabriel - Games Without Frontiers
  14. Noel Coward - Mad Dogs and Englishmen
  15. As am I, but I still need to "Run As Admin" to enable successfully saving changes to DX plug-in names. Admin <> Admin in all cases 🙂
  16. Run it outside as admin. There are command line switches to run it in the right context (I forget what - I use Task Manager to find out what they are when it's called from within CbB etc).
  17. I was wondering about this over the weekend: how much is down to liking the song, how much the sound of the guitar and how much the actual "tune" of the solo? There are songs I really like (and bands/guitarists playing said song) but the solo in the song sucks golf-balls through a 50' hose (Alex Lifeson springs to mind - I'm a big Rush fan, but think pretty much all of his solos are awful); there are bands whose guitar sounds like it's being played on a sub-£50 Argos* guitar+amp bundle, which totally spoil what might otherwise be a good solo; and there are solos which aren't necessarily "amazing", but the guitar sound is gorgeous so the solo is lovely to listen to. * Apologies to those not in the UK for the cultural reference.
  18. Black Sun Ensemble - Blues for Rainer Double pointer.
  19. Roxy Music - Out of the Blue
