  1. Well, I uninstalled then reinstalled Cakewalk and I see the update is still there. Now its taking about 5 mins to save. I'm super stressed about this. Will I have to scrap months of work? I can't wait 5 mins every time I press save! What do I do guys?
  2. Can someone please explain exactly how to uninstall the program? Does this mean unintalling Cakewalk? I'm having a HUGE problem since this update. Saving a project normally takes less than 10 seconds, now it's taking about 2 mins! It saves bundle copies fine however. I've been working on my current project for months so Im freaking out. I didn't learn about setting up a restore point til now. So I think my only option is to uninstall & reinstall the progam. Unless someone knows how to fix this project saving issue. Please help!
  3. Cool John. Btw, I was watching one of ur videos yest that showed how to view audio track controls in Piano Roll View. It's already improved my work flow. Thanks a lot man!
  4. Pressing "I" worked in Track View but not in PRV. However, I just found my problem. In the little box near the upper right of screen, I somehow switched it from "Advanced" to "None". Now I know to leave it in Advanced. But thanks for the advice my friend. Cheers!
  5. Cheers guys. How do I get the inspector back on the left when in Piano Roll View. I see nowhere to redock it. Also, the Transport covers the time ruler. I have to close the Transport if I wanna view it. It's like the PRV is zoomed in too much or something. Thanks!
  6. Thanks John. I didn't know about mix recall. Glad to know it exist. Btw, I like what u said about creating my own workflow that suits my needs. That's why I'm trying to embrace offset mode. Automating as I go is important to me. If I can't do that, It's quite possible that I'll develop a drinking problem, buy a cat & become a recluse(๐Ÿคจ ๐Ÿˆ). I can't take that risk! Seriously, I'm hoping that the extra control offset mode provides will be worth it in the end. Anyway, Sincere Thanks to all of u here on the forum. Without ur help, I would've taken a baseball bat to my computer a long time ago... Office Space style ๐Ÿ˜‰
  7. Thanks Johnny V and all u guys for ur advice. And yeah, it looks like Kalle wins the cigar. I got bit by the offset mode. I'd say that's a "routing error". Offset mode is a great tool but once in use, u have to always remain aware of it. Im still trying to get my head around how all the controls interact between the two boards but it seems that both boards are always in series. Toggling between envelope & offset only hides the other mixing board. It'd be great if they designed the offset mode board to have a slightly diff look, color, or border when in use so u know ur not in Kansas anymore. That's what got me, everything looks exactly the same accept for the little light by the transport. I had no clue I was looking at a whole diff mixing board from the one I started my project with. Anyway, Thanks again for all the help guys. Cheers ๐Ÿป
  8. I esp notice it on my elec guitar using a high gain TH3 amp sim. The track is not yet rendered so it's a live vst. When I lower the track's gain knob the guitar sounds cleaner & weaker. When I turn it up, it acts like a front end boost giving me more amp distortion & sustain. But this makes sense right? Isn't EVERY effect in the chain affected by the strength of the signal reaching it?
  9. Thanks a lot John. Btw, do u rem this post from a few months ago? I finally found my problem.... Offset Mode! I must've accidentally toggled it on the project many months ago and had that master turned low. Like JnJuneTech, I didn't even know what offset mode was. Now that I've turned it back on and turned up that master, all my volume is back. It's loud as heck. Praise God! ๐Ÿ™ Man I had no idea there was an invisible master gain stage between the normal master & output. Oh well, at least now I know one of the "boo-boos" to watch out for. Ouch!!! ๐Ÿ˜–
  10. Thanks bud. Im gonna try sticking to offset mode and see how it works for me. I have to know. But since my current project is set up in envelope mode, should I zero out my pan knobs in envelope mode before switching to offset? (I'm confused on how panning is affected between the two modes) And is there anything else I should set up in envelope mode first to avoid discrepancies or redundancy issues between the two modes? Thanks
  11. Thanks Xoo. I'm very tempted to do that but from what I've read online they say it's easy to make accidental changes when in offset mode. If I do leave it in offset mode, what things should I watch out for to prevent accidental changes? IOWs, what are some common boo-boos that happen in offset mode? (I'm sure u guys have been bit by it a time or two)
  12. Thanks Herky. That may be the route I'll have to go. It just seems crazy that if u want to automate volume on 20 tracks that u need to create 20 buses to quickly adjust volume during mixing. I'm no wiz but this seems like a design oversight. I can't be the first person to encounter this conundrum. I'm seriously considering buying Bandlab and firing the whole staff out of spite. ๐Ÿ˜
  13. That's great to know. Yeah, it seemed like a tool that could hurt me as much as help me. Cheers bud!
  14. Thanks Scook. I only had a few mins to try the offset mode but I was sad to see it affected all the tracks and zeroed out the pan knobs visually. I thought there would be a simple toggle per track(like a pre/post kinda thing) that allows u to adjust an individual track slider independent of it's volume automation. Although I don't fully grasp the envelope/offset thing yet, it seems to be kinda all or nothing. The gain vst is a great idea but I can't imagine having to add it on every track I automate volume on. John suggest using the gain knob but I find that changes the quality of the tone too much. I guess I'll spend some time in offset mode and see how it works out. I'm just hoping it doesn't cause more mishaps for a noob like me. (I'm still traumatized from the Ripple All setting ๐Ÿ˜ซ)
  15. Hi guys. I know there's a way to use volume automation yet still use the track slider to control the tracks overall volume. Someone showed how to do it in a video months ago but I can't rem how. Thanks a lot!
  16. Thanks Dave. Yeah, it may have been something I did on accident. Btw, I'm still fairly green. Can u please explain a bit more on how "save as" is different than just saving the current project as it is? And is it ok to save it under "Cakewalk Projects" or should I choose a diff location? Thanks!
  17. Hi. I was editing on my song and noticed a whole section of my SI Strings was gone. No more midi notes or sound. It's as if I deleted it but I def didn't. This has happened to me a few times in the past as well. What could be causing this and any tips to avoid it? Thanks!
  18. Wow, never knew that was called the Transport. Well that's easy enough. Thanks Scook!
  19. Thanks Mettelus but I don't know what u mean by "start and stop the transport". Can you please explain exactly how to do this?
  20. Hi. Lately when I try to save a backup Cakewalk Bundle to my external SS Drive, which has LOTS of free space , it says "out of memory". I end up having to close and reopen the project a couple times and then it finally lets me save it. Any clue what's causing it to show that I'm out of memory? And anything I can do to fix it? Thanks!
  21. Thanks Tim. I started to think Satan was picking on me alone. It's good to know I have lots of company ๐Ÿ˜œ.
  22. Hi, I can't find anywhere to access my forum notifications on my phone. Is this site still being worked on or am I missing something? Thanks!
  23. That did it Larioso. I didn't see anywhere to enter "1" but I switched it to "TRUE" and that fixed it. No more effects bleed. Thanks a lot my friend. Cheers!
  24. Cheers guys. Just when I thought I was starting to figure out this routing stuff, this one has me scratching my head. I have all of my track outputs assigned to the master bus. The guitar track send is routed to an effects bus and that effects bus is routed to the master bus. When I solo any track, I hear the delay effect of the guitar as well. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks!
  25. Thanks. I managed to delete one of them. Somehow I ended up with sustain info between the other two but I'm fine with that. I'll hopefully be rendering the track before too long anyway. Thanks for all the advice guys!
